House Update

So the enamel top table is in place and cleaned up. I got my shelves out of storage (and the laundry room) and hung them to give me more space to display.

Funny how this long one is the perfect length of the table! I knew I kept it for some reason!
Sorry I get excited when I can justify my hoarding.

These two little ones have been in storage for 4 years. I have used them only for about a month. My sister has two more at her house so Cupcake can have a wall with her treasures!

All of these lovely treasures were in or on the secretary that is still sitting in the middle of my living room floor. I hope to get it to storage soon. The rain has stopped so I hope to go tomorrow.
We had a hurricane for most of the week and are a bit soggy here in NC.

Here is another peek at some Christmas goodies.  And spray paint. hehe I think I'll keep it but it is satin and I need gloss to paint my two old chairs to go with my two new chairs and table.
I didn't take pictures of the kitchen. Still a work in progress but usable again! Yea!
More to come. Thanks for bearing with me. I'm working on it all but the time change and darkness have really made me exhausted most days lately.
I hope you all have a lovely Sunday and a happy, healthy, prosperous week ahead.
Hugs, Lisa

ps Thursday is my birthday! I really need to get together something fun my post that day!

Happy Pink Saturday!!

Welcome again to Pink Saturday! Please visit Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound for a full list of Pinkness!
This week I am Happy to announce that the curtains are up in my room! I am avoiding the words done and finished because I feel now that they are up they will go through changes before I'm really "done". But they are made of beautiful fabric and I'm happy to have them up!!

I considered putting them on a rod outside the window, even though the wall around the windows is really bad and it could potentially not work. But as you can see that would only work on one window because of the shelf on the other. I had shelves over both but it wouldn't stay over the one. So I've also considered trim and going back and getting more fabric to have two panels per window. So here they are even if not "done"!

Happy Pink Saturday!!

Artist of the Week 2

Hi again! My artist of the week is Cathy @ Cath's Pennies Designs!
Besides being another of my sweet blog buddies, Cathy is a really sweet friend, wife, mother, and grandmother. Drop by her blog you won't be sorry!!
She makes candle mats that are just amazing! She really started with them and then moved to pin keeps. Being a Pin cushion junkie ;) I HAD to have one of her lovely hearts!

The problem was red or pink...hummm... as you can see I didn't choose between them! And more important I was hooked! Soon after I got these I started my blog, I let Cathy know and she sent me to her blog and that was really the end! She shows her work in all the stages and makes the most amazing things!!!

flowers.

fruit.
She has many, many, many more. Please visit her blog to see all the lovely pin keeps and candle mats and fun how to's!!
Thanks for visiting again!

Suggestions Please

My Dear sister went to a yard sale and brought me this great magazine rack. I like it and the shabby look to it is great.

I don't really have any place to put it. My bedroom is the shabby place but no way will it fit. I could put it in the living room but the living room is very primitive.

So do I want to paint it? Do I keep it? It would be great to have a place for my magazines. Do I keep it and leave it shabby? The pictures of it were made in the bedroom. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
THANKS!!
Hugs,Lisa

UPDATE!!!
I got SOOOO many great ideas about my magazine rack I will be adding an extra entry to the 50 followers giveaway for any ideas here! THANKS GUYS!!! I'm at 49!! Looks like it could be today!!

Bargin of the Day!

I'm so excited I found these chairs!! They are sage green which is one of my favorite colors. And they are cute! I think they look cool with my old farm table that has green peeling paint on the legs and will change the whole look of my Kitchen. The best part is all 4 chairs ( well they fold too a great help in a small house) cost me less than $20! New from World Market! Ok so I did cheat because my Mom works there and we got her discount but they were only $25 a set for everyone else!!

sorry this one is so blurry! eeeks!

I finally made up my mind

I have been searching for curtains for my bedroom for over 2 months. I found some fabric at JoAnns and I really liked it. It was, of course, some of the most expensive they have and so I went at least twice to buy it and chickened out when I thought about how much I was going to spend. So with the holiday and coupons in hand, and months of looking for other ones I jumped....

It really does match all my new items in my room so I'm not sure why I waited. I really wanted shabby chic roses but I actually bought more English Cottage. I love it and it looks better with my dark furniture.
with my quilt

with my storage bench new cover

with my new storage boxes

with the fabric on my old chair

I guess I thrive on stressing over the little stuff! I will post the finshed project as soon as mom has them done. (I try to sew but our machines are so bad I just can't do it) She is on vacation next end of this week and first of next so it won't be long! I can't wait! I found some really great curtains on etsy that even a great price they were just too shabby for my stuff so I'm stealing the design idea and I hope it works out!!! Til next week.

ps sorry this looked so bad I previewed it and it didn't look all screwed up like it did when it posted! L

Bedroom makeover...

I have been so inspired by EVERYONE I have visited in blogland that I have "redone" my bedroom. A lot was repurposing and some was flat just digging it out of storage (thats a whole other post:) Some was seeing a lovely item on a new friends blog and well I had to have it! I either went to the local store(micheals, JoAnn Fabrics,Ross, TJMaxx) Or I flat out asked for it!! Some times I didn't even pay for it (Thanks again Margret!). Ok ok enough talk here's what you really want (oh sorry no before pics :(

Ok now for the close ups...

and this...

I got out this bedspread and quilt...

Bought fabric to cover the toy box and chair...

But when I uncovered my chair I found this!!

It is a great mauve that matches both my quilt AND my new fabric on the toy chest!
Now I would say I was shocked but I tend towards the same colors so it has happened before that I end up all matchy!
I'll just add that I added the vintage linens to my dressers and bedside table early on to lighten up my dark furnature. And that I'm still in a desperate search for the right curtains!
SO I'll let you go as this is long but special thanks to blog friends, elyse, cathy, barbra jean, and jenny & the girls at suzanna's antiques for helping with the crutical items to redo my room!!!!
HUGS, Lisa
