Paper Smooches April Challenge #2

Hello there!!  It's the first of the month, and that means it's time for a new Paper Smooches Challenge!  This challenge runs from April 15th through April 28th, and the theme is Happy Things!  This theme is perfect for these current times... we could all use a little bit of happy! :)

To create my card, I started off by watercoloring a pice of watercolor paper using shades of pink, orange and yellow.  I splattered on some black and gold watercolors for some added texture.  Then, I stamped and colored images from the adorable Sunnyville stamp set and diecut them with the coordinating Sunnyville Icons dies.  The sentiment is a Hallow Hello diecut, with both layers cut from white cardstock.  I trimmed the panel slightly to allow a sliver of Half Moon patterned paper to peek out from the left side of the card base, and the card was finished off with some white gel pen accents.

Paper Smooches April Challenge #1

Hello there!!  It's the first of the month, and that means it's time for a new Paper Smooches Challenge!  This challenge runs from April 1st through April 14th, and the theme is Pastel Colors!

To create my card, I started off by inking up a piece of 4" x 5.25" cardstock with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.  Over top of that, I blended more of the same ink through the Hot Dot stencil.  Then, I splattered on some watered down black paint.  I hand cut the hills from white cardstock, inked with Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide ink and added some Shabby Shutters splatter.  I stamped and colored the adorable dinos, trees and rock from the Cuteasaurus stamp set, and fussy cut them with my scissors.  Once I had them arranged, I adhered some pieces with a glue pen and others with foam tape for some extra dimension.  Then, I added a trio of Mini Clouds to the sky.  I added a strip of striped paper from the Half Moon paper pad to the bottom of the panel, then stamped a sentiment from the Huge Hugs 2 stamp set on a Bannerific diecut, which I popped up where my scene meets the patterned paper.  Finally, I popped the entire panel up on an A2 card base.

Missing you BIG time

To create my card, I started off with a piece of kraft cardstock cut to 4" x 5.25".  On the bottom third of the panel, I used the Buffalo Check stencil and some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink to add a checked pattern.  I splattered some watered down white acrylic paint over the panel for some added interest.  My focal images are the adorable bear and bee from the So Fairy Cute stamp set, stamped in black ink on kraft and colored with Prismacolor colored pencils.  Then , I added some white gel pen accents.  I diecut the images with the coordinating So Fairy Cute Icons dies.  To further create my scene, I diecut some Mini Clouds from white and Teeny Stars from white glitter paper.  The sentiment, also from the So Fairy Cute stamp set, is stamped on a kraft Bannerific diecut.

Hello there!!  It's the first of the month, and that means it's time for a new Paper Smooches Challenge!  This challenge runs from March1st through March 14th, and the theme is Anything Goes!

To create my card, I started off by cutting a piece of watercolor paper to 4"x 5.25".  I diecut the Honeycomb die three times from white cardstock and glued it to the watercolor paper with a glue pen.  Then, I used my Karin markers to watercolor the honey in and around the diecut openings.  After everything was dry, I diecut three honeycombs again and stacked them on top of the first to add some dimension.  I stamped and colored the adorable bee from the Happy Hellos stamp set and diecut them with the coordinating Happy Hellos Icons dies.  I popped the bee up with foam tape, and added a scattering of red hearts diecut using the Hearts dies.  Before mounting the panel to an A2 card base, I added a sliver of striped paper from the Half Moon paper collection, and to finish off my card, I added some white gel pen accents and some yellow iridescent sequins.

Hello there!!  We are half way though the month, and that means it's time for a new Paper Smooches Challenge!  This challenge runs from February 15th through February 28th, and this challenge is a color challenge!  How fun is this  color palette?!

To create my card, I started off by watercoloring a wash of pastel purple using Faded Lilac Distress ink onto a piece of 4: x 5.25" watercolor paper.  To the bottom of the panel, I added a strip of white cardstock to ground my images.  I stamped and colored one of the snowmen and a few of the adorable critters from the Winter Greetings stamp set, and diecut them with the coordinating Winter Greetings Icons dies.  I arranged them on the snow bank, popped them up with foam tape, and above them, stamped a sentiment from the same set in black ink.  I used one of the small snowflakes from the stamp set and more Shaded Lilac ink to add some tone on tone snowflakes.  Then, I used the Snowflakes dies to add some bigger snowflakes to the panel.  Before popping the panel up on an A2 card base, I added a strip of patterned paper from the Half Moon paper collection, and finished off my card with some white gel pen accents and a scattering of white iridescent sequins.

Paper Smooches February Challenge #1

Hello there!!  It's the first of the month, and that means it's time for a new Paper Smooches Challenge!  This challenge runs from February 1st through February 14th, and the theme is LOVE!

To create my card, I started off with a piece of 4" x 5.25" polka dot paper from the fabulous new Half Moon Paper pack, which I watercolored with Distress Inks.  With minimal water, this worked beautifully.  To the bottom of that panel, I added a piece of striped paper from the same paper collection, separated with a thin strip of black cardstock.  I stamped and colored the bigger cluster of flowers from the Blossoming Buds stamp set and tucked it behind the new I Heart You diecut.  I added a scattering of tiny hearts cut using the Hearts dies, and some white gel pen accents before mounting the panel on a horizontal A2 white card base.

I Love You

To create my card, I started off by watercoloring several layers of stripes using a 1" flat brush and Distress inks in Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire.  I painted each stripe and dried it between layer before painting another over top.  I also added some white pearl watercolor splatters and splatters with white acrylic paint.  When it was dry, I diecut the panel with the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangles dies.  I stamped and colored images from the Courteous Cuties stamp set with my Copic markers and diecut them with the coordinating Courteous Cuties Icons dies.  I arranged the scene on the panel and popped everything up with foam tape.  The sentiment is from the Courteous Cuties 2 stamp set and it is stamped on a banner diecut from the Bannerific Dies set.  To finish things off, I added some white gel pen accents, some clear droplets from my stash, and a few smaller bubbles using Nuvo Morning Dew drops.

Grande Hugs {Paper Smooches}

Hello there!  I took advantage of the Paper Smooches Black Friday sale, and picked up the adorable Baby Birds stamp set and coordinating dies!  I colored a bunch the other day and used a few to create a card that I wanted to share with you!

I stamped and colored the Baby Birds with Copic Markers and diecut them with the Baby Birds Icons dies.  Then I diecut the Cozy Coffee die from black cardstock for the outline and white cardstock for the inner pieces.  I used Copics to add some shading, and cut the center sleeve from some polka dot patterned paper from my stash.  I colored the heart from the set with some red shades, and added some gel pen accents.  Before gluing down the cup, I used the Stitched Flourishes 2 dies to add some steam behind the cup, and stamped some Shadows in light gray ink at the bottom to ground the cup and yellow bird.  Then I glued down the cup, and popped up the birds with foam tape.  The sentiment is from Winter Sampler, and to finish things off, I added a scattering of diecut Tiny Hearts.

November Page Maps Sketch with Paper Smooches

Hello there!  The Paper Smooches team is playing along with the gang at PageMaps this month, and creating projects using a variety of awesome sketches!  Kim asked me if I wanted to play along too, and of course, I said yes! :)

Here is the PageMaps sketch that I used:

And here is my card!  I pulled out some fun star paper from my stash that I wanted to use, and one of my very favorite Paper Smooches stamp sets, Space Cadet.  I diecut the patterned paper and a piece of watercolor paper to add a stitched edge, and then used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens to watercolor a galaxy sky on the watercolor paper.  When it was dry, I added some gold metallic watercolor splatters.  I stamped and colored images from Space Cadet, and diecut them with the coordinating Space Cadet Icons dies, and popped those pieces up on the background using foam tape.  Then, I stamped a sentiment from the same set on a banner diecut in dark blue ink, and added a scattering of diecut stars cut using the Space dies.  The outline star matches the patterned paper perfectly!  I love happy little accidents like that!  Before popping the watercolor panel up on the card base, I added a blue and white twine bow, and some accents with a white gel pen.

You're My Universe {Paper Smooches}

Hello there!  Today, I have a card to share with you for the Paper Smooches June Challenge!  The theme this month is Men.

Even though I have a husband and am a mom to two amazing boys, masculine cards are always hard for me.  I am not sure why that is... but when I saw the theme for this month's challenge, I knew I had to play along because I don't have nearly enough boy cards on hand.

I pulled out one of my favorite Paper Smooches stamp sets, Space Cadet.  I started off by ink blending a background using Peacock Feathers, Lucky Clover, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire and Dusty Concord distress inks.  I splattered on some clean clear water to bleach out some areas, then added white spatters with watered down acrylic paint.  I stamped and colored images from the Space Cadet stamp set, then diecut them with the coordinating dies.  To create the moon, I diecut a circle from white cardstock, then used a stencil from the Papertrey Ink Out of This World mini kit to add the fun pattern with Pumice Stone distress ink.  I adhered the moon down with a glue pen, and popped everything else with foam tape.  I used the Space dies to diecut some white stars for the sky, then stamped a sentiment from the Space Cadet stamp set on a strip of white cardstock.  To finish things off, I added some white gel pen accents, and popped the panel up on a white card base with foam tape.

You're My Universe

That's all for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

Color Throwdown #446

Hello there!  I am excited to share that I have been asked to play along with the design team over at the Color Throwdown Challenge for the month of June!

A new challenge starts every Wednesday, and today kicks off Color Throwdown #446 - Green, Yellow and Coral!

For my card today, I pulled out some cute stamps from my Paper Smooches stash!  I started off by watercoloring a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock with Abandoned Coral and Mustard Seed distress inks.  I diecut the panel with the Lawn Fawn Small Dotted Rectangles Stackables dies.  I added a strip of patterned paper to the bottom of the panel, then stamped and colored a pineapple image from the Pineapple Crush stamp set.  I knew I wanted to use this sentiment from the Spreading Sunshine stamp set, so I had to give my pineapple a smile!  I stamped and cut the cheesy grin from the Sunny Side Up stamp set, which I believe has been retired.  I added glasses from the Pineapple 2 dies, and of course, googlie eyes!  I diecut some hearts from dark coral cardstock using the Tiny Hearts dies, and added some white gel pen accents before mounting the panel on a white card base using foam tape.

Smiling Pineapple

Pineapple Crush {Paper Smooches}

Hello hello!  Happy Monday!

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I had the opportunity to visit the Whatever Craft House in Newton, Kansas this weekend for a girls weekend!  A bunch of stamping friends got together for 4 days of fun!  Today, I have a few cards to share with you using the ADORABLE new release from Paper Smooches!  Pineapples are a hot new trendy thing, and as soon as I saw them, I knew I had to have them!

My first card uses the Pineapple Crush and Pineapple Crush 2 stamp sets.  I started off by ink blending distress inks in Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Broken China in vertical stripes on a piece of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor paper.  I started blending at the bottom and working my way up so that it was darker at the bottom and gradually faded into a light wash of color.  I added some droplets of clean, clear water to bleach out some areas, and then ink splattered in the same colors.  I added a strip of Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Rainbow paper to the bottom, and diecut the panel with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles dies.  I stamped and colored the large detailed pineapple from Pineapple Crush, one in pink, yellow and blue to coordinate with the distress inked background.  I popped those up with foam tape, then stamped a sentiment from Pineapple Crush 2 onto a hand cut banner, and popped that up.  Finally, I added a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh iridescent sequins in Strawberry Burst, Sunshine Glow and Peacock Feathers, and then popped it up on a white card base.

Pineapple Thank You

My second card uses the Pineapple 2 die set.  I started off by masking off the bottom of the paper and then ink blending a background on watercolor paper using Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple distress inks.  I bleached out some spots with a sprinkle of water, and then added ink splatters using the same ink colors.  I ran it through my diecut machine to add a stitched edge.  I diecut the solid pineapple from the set from white cardstock, and I cut the detail later from the die set as well.  I held the detailed layer over the top to serve as a mask, and colored in the holes with my copic markers, and then removed the detailed layer.  I added cute little arms and legs to him using the Fruit People dies.  His glasses were cut from black cardstock and I stamped the centers with the tiny heart from the Pineapple Crush 2 stamp set.  I stamped a sentiment from the Cute Fruit stamp set onto a speech bubble diecut by Pretty Pink Posh, and popped everything up with foam tape before adding it to an orange card base.

Hi Sweetie

That's all for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
