Bible Journaling: Matthew 17:20-21

Hello there!  I have a fun project to share with you today!  I am using some of my favorite Reverse Confetti products to do a little Bible Art Journaling!  Reverse Confetti has a line of faith based sentiments that are perfect, not only for card making, but also for bible journaling.

Today, I chose to journal Matthew, 17:20-21 which reads: He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

I started off my page by using my Neocolors II water reactive crayons to lay down a watercolor wash in the column of the page, and overlapping slightly onto the text.  I started with yellow at the top, then two shades of orange, and finally green at the bottom.  I used the darkest orange to also highlight the verse that I wanted to journal.  For the sun rays at the top, I used the Sunburst Cover Panel to cut a piece of clear acetate to use as a stencil.  I used my Distress Oxide inks in Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber with an ink blending tool to give a good contrast to the watercolored sky behind.  Just below the sun, I stamped a sentiment from The Lord's Strength stamp set.  For the mountains, I used an image from the Bearing Gifts stamp set.  The little clouds in the sky are from the Weather it Together stamp set.  I outlined the watercolored verse with a black journaling pen, and to mark my page, I used some patterned paper from the Free Spirit paper pad to make a tab using a tab punch.  I selectively inked and stamped the word "mountains" from the same sentiment I used on the page.  To finish things off and add a bit more interest. I added some black spatter all over the page.

Mountains

I love stamps that are multipurpose, and digging through my stash to look for things to use in my bible is very relaxing and fun for me.  If you have never painted in the pages if your bible, I encourage you to give it a try!  I was so nervous at first, but I quickly realized how silly it was to be nervous!  I have a separate bible just for my art journaling, the ESV Single Column Journaling Bible by Crossway, but there are so many to choose from! :)

That's it for me today!  I hope you enjoyed a peek into my bible! :)

Creative Worship: Psalm 91:4 {Sweet n Sassy Stamps}

 Today I have a bible page to share with you using the Creative Worship: His Wings stamp set from Sweet n Sassy Stamps!  I chose to journal Psalm 91:4.  The His Wings stamp set has all of the words in that Psalm for you to include the entire verse on your page.  I started off my lining up my word stamps as I wanted them on my page, and then picked up each line, one by one on my acrylic block, and stamping the verse a line at a time.  I was sure to use waterproof ink because I planned to watercolor over top of them and I didn't want the ink to bleed.  If you don't have waterproof ink, you could always watercolor first, and then stamp after it's dried.  After I watercolored, I stamped the feather images included in the stamp set randomly around the page.  I use ink colors slightly darker than the watercolor beneath them.  Then, I stamped the more detailed outline feathers and the bird in flight in black ink.  Everything was looking a little flat for me, so I added some accents with a white gel pen.  I added polkadots to the feathers, and outlined the colored feathers and the bigger words in the verse in white gel pen.  Suddenly, everything started popping off of the page!  It's amazing how one little addition can change the look of the entire page!

Creative Worship {Sweet and Sassy Stamps}

Hello there!  Today I have a Bible Journaling page to share with you!  I recently started my Bible Journaling journey, and I am thrilled to see so many products hitting the market with Bible Journaling in mind!  Sweet 'n Sassy stamps just launched a new line called Creative Worship, and I am thrilled to have them to use in my bible!  My favorite alphabet set that they offer is part of the He is Risen Bible Journaling Kit. The "Love Ya Like a Sister" alpha is the perfect size for bible margins, and it's fun, whimical style is perfect for a variety of themes!

I chose to journal 2 Corinthians 5:7 - "for we walk by faith, not by sight".  I started off by scraping several colors of heavy body acrylic paint on to my page with an old credit card.  After the paint was dry, I stamped the verse with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  It required A LOT of drying time, even using a heat tool.  The ink was sitting on top of the acrylic paint, and because of that, it stayed wet longer.  (Don't look too closely as my little fingerprint smudges *wink*).    I added a few cardstock stickers, and some hand drawn doodles to finish off my page.

Walk by Faith

Here you can see how I chose to highlight the verse I was journaling.  A swipe of acrylic paint really draws the eye to the bottom of the page.
