Yesterday I was making a comment on Linda's
The Road Awaits blog and she mentioned that she was experimenting in black and white images as a challenge for her photography club, she was hoping to get some feed back on subjects that translate well into this genre. For me I think you can't go past either portraits or street scenes, I took this one in the city this week and as I had more than enough time to take the shot, it seems what they say about 'blondes' getting just that wee bit more attention may be true, the waiter definitely 'loitered' haha!! ReplyDeleteI think most of the time you can never go wrong with BW for portraits of any kind. It removes the distraction of colors etc. Love this shot. We can all put our spin on it.

Bonza B&W photo and people do say blondes have more fun, but on the other side of the coin other people say blondes are a bit thick sometimes, i don't know if this is true or not :-).

ReplyDeleteBeing a blonde myself, I can say there was a time when I benefited from this form of attention. Sadly, that time has passed. It has certainly become harder to command that much attention.

I did manage to get some pretty awesome shots of my niece in black and white - one of them was good enough (I think) to enter in the challenge. We will see! After the advice from several people about portraits in B&W, I think I have to agree...portraits and street scenes are pretty awesome in B&W. I also got a pretty neat shot of an airplane on the tarmac at a local commuter airport, against an incredible sky. Still working on it! Have a wonderful evening!

I agree with you about b & w pics. They only work for me with portraits and street scenes. And, yes....it's true about blondes! My best friend is a leggy blonde and she always receives special attention, particularly from the male persuasion. When I'm out and about with her, I use it to my advantage and instruct her "Okay...use your powers! Get us a nice table!" : )

ReplyDeleteA blonde gets on an aircraft, and plops herself in the first seat in First Class. The flight attendant asks to see her ticket, which the blonde hands over. “I’m sorry ma’am, but you’re going to have to move back to coach, this is the first class area of the aircraft, and your ticket is for coach”.
To which the blonde replies, “I’m blonde, and I’m beautiful, and I’m going to New York First Class, because I deserve it!!!!”. She refuses to budge.
The flight attendant gets the senior flight attendant, and explains the situation. The Sr. flight attendant goes over to the blonde, and patiently explains the ins and outs of first class versus coach, ticket prices, etc., and instructs the blonde to gather her belongings and go back to coach. To which the blonde replies, “I’m blonde, and I’m beautiful, and I’m going to New York First Class, because I deserve it!!!!”, and defiantly refuses to move.
Not sure what move to make next, the senior flight attendant knocks on the cockpit door, explains the situation and informs the Captain that there’s a dumb blonde in First Class who won’t go sit where she belongs. To which the Captain replies “No problem, I’ve got it”.
He leaves the cockpit, calmly walks over to the blonde, leans over, and whispers in her ear. She jumps up like a bat out of hell, grabs all of her stuff, and runs back to coach. The Captain walks back over to the flight attendants, who are standing there in awe.
“What on earth did you say to her, Captain, to get her to move like that?”.
“Easy”, he said, “I told her First Class wasn’t going to New York!”.
I will give any blonde attention, if she will come up and do my ironing.....
