Hershey and Chica Win a Trophy & Sad News

 Hershey

The girls had the gerbils race in their balls.  Here they are posing with their prize trophy cups!  Isn't just adorable that they are holding their cups?

Sad news today:  Hershey is no longer with us  (sad news for Olivia - it seems that all of her favorite pets keep dying) because Smokey got to her.  We have been very careful to keep the bedroom door closed, but today it was overlooked.  I think Smokey assisted in helping a tube to come unattached to the cage.  I knew it was bad news when Smokey came down the stairs licking his lips.  The good news is that Chica was safely hiding in the closet.

Olivia already started doing some extra chores around the house to earn some money to buy another one.  Anyone want to donate to her pet fund?

Chica

The trophy cup was left too long with them and is now showing signs of nibbling.   Chica is sporting a cute knit hat.

Are you and your friends registered voters?

Are you a registered voter?
Look up your name along with your friends, neighbors, church members, and family to check to see if they are registered to vote.  Many people think they are registered but in fact they are not!  Let's make our voice be heard.   Take the first step by registering.  CLICK HERE for the link to check and also take the pledge to get one more person registered.  According to Wikipedia 30% of Americans are not registered to vote and of those who think they are registered to vote 14% are not registered.  You must make your voice be heard, especially for this next presidential election.

I started checking my friends names.  For those who weren't registered, you will be receiving an email with the appropriate links so that you can register on-line.

For those who are already registered to vote, you can spread the word to your other friends.

I challenge each of you to check at least 10 names (click the above link).

Swimming & a Miracle

The first hot summer day brings us to the local pool.

One of Vivian's new earrings (6 days new) fell out into the pool!  The girls looked for a while and could only find the earring back.  Finally I decided to tell the office that she had lost an earring.  They said it was pretty rare to find an earring.  However, they made an announcement about the lost earring and within 30 minutes someone had found it!  Truly a miracle.  Now the next hurdle was to get the earring back in the tiny hole.  After several attempts it went in.  Another miracle!  Our prayers were answered today.

Vivian's Big Birthday

Vivian turns 8 years old!  I can't believe it - she is our baby!  We had Tisha, David and Chad & Marne's family over to celebrate on her actual birthday.  Vivian will be baptized on Sept. 1st (Labor Day Weekend).  She is waiting for Corbin to turn 16 years old so that he can baptize her.  We are all excited for her special day.  For her birthday she received a brand new set of nice scriptures - all of the standard works in a quad.  She also got her ears pierced the day before her birthday.  She is excited for the six week mark so she can wear some different earrings.  It's great to be eight!
Vivian had a friend birthday party (these are a rare thing in my home).  We decided to do her party here at home with a farm theme, instead of trying to create something different.  So together we made invitations with stamped farm animals.  At her party they roped calf heads in hay bales, rode the goats, fed the goats, played with the chickens, had an egg toss, had plasma car races, played pig races with the Kinect, along with foosball and air hockey!  They had so much fun!  I think they are already miss seeing each other at school.

Fudge & Corbin Are Checking out the New Ladies

Two young men looking at the new ladies!

We added three more animals to our craziness on Wednesday (May 30th) - who knows what we were thinking.  Paul stopped by a local breeder of alpacas to ask some questions about caring for them.  And then he called asking if it was okay to purchase three more.  What?  I know Fudge (a truly manly name for our male alpaca) would love some companions, but do we really need to do this.  However, we made a quick decision and now we have three more animals.

You are probably curious about their names.  From left to right they are named:  Twix, Cocoa, & Angel.

p.s.  Since I am actually writing this almost a month after the event, I think we are getting in over our heads with animals.  We will see how long they last.  Fudge has become very protective of the girls, to the point that we can't go inside the fence if he is in there because he will attack!
