Challenge #49 Top Picks: Voting Open June 12th to 19th, 2017

WELCOME TO THE CHALLENGE #49 POP TOP!

Hello everyone! It is time to get on with showcasing the top picks for Challenge #49. This time around we had 13 entries. That means each entrant has the opportunity to be chosen as the Voter's Choice. We do this any time we have less than 14 participants. And, while we may not have enough participants to have a top seven, we certainly have enough to have a top three. Therefore, it is time to get on with showcasing the projects and/or write-ups that touched the team the most.

Thus, without further ado, please let me introduce you to the Top Picks for Challenge #49...

Congrats Mimi, Hélène & Sherry...

As a participant who has been chosen as a Top Pick in this challenge,
you are entitled to a special Challenge #49 Top Pick Badge.
Please feel free to grab a copy for your blog...

HAVE YOUR SAY!

Now as I mentioned earlier, each of the participant's who entered Challenge #49 AND FOLLOWED THE  RULES is eligible to have their project and/or post voted on. It is time for you, our readers, to vote for your favourite entry. Which participant most inspires you? Remember, you are not necessarily voting on a creation that was made. You might simply find what the person had to say in their post to be inspiring and optimistic. Please be sure to go and check out the entries first and not just make your choices off of the thumbnails. Then, let us know who your favourite choice is by placing your vote below using the Linky Tools feature (order is reflective of how they entered the challenge and nothing else). Once you have made your decision, why not go back and let them know how they inspired you.

Voting open for 7 days:
June 12th to
June 19th

Path of Positivity--Challenge #49 Top Picks
Please click "like" to vote for your favourite entry for Challenge #49 out of the entries listed below.  One vote per IP address please. Please note that you can get a better idea of what the project/post looks like by visiting each participant first. To do so, simply click the names below the thumbnails to be taken to the person's blog.

Good luck everyone!

Challenge #49--Optional Theme: PRESENT NOT PERFECT..Midway

Hello folks. It is the third Monday of the month and that means that it is time to present the midway for Challenge #49. Sorry I'm running a bit later in the evening than usual, as I mentioned at the start of the challenge, this is one of those months where the dates for the three challenge blogs I coordinate all converge together. Thankfully it only happens a couple of times a year!!!

As we are a unique kind of challenge blog, please be sure to check out the START POST FOUND HERE, for all the rules and details you need to know in order to enter. For now, here is a refresher of what our theme is all about:

Challenge #49

Optional Theme: PRESENT NOT PERFECT

Have you ever been in the position where you wanted to participate, but you just didn’t feel you had the talent to compete or be accepted? Have you ever wanted to reach out, but you just didn’t know the perfect thing to say? Have you wanted to share, but simply couldn’t for fear of making a fool of yourself?

We’ve all been in one, and most likely all, of these situations at some point! The need to be perceived as perfect is so strong in some and it keeps us from being present and in the moment.

Our challenge for you this month is to step out of your perfection zone and be positive about what you have to contribute! Perhaps you visit the site and enjoy the work of others and share something with us for the first time! Maybe you’ve shared many times, but now you will try a new technique you’ve been afraid to try for fear of failing. Possibly you’ve wanted to try doing a video or pictorial teaching aid to go along with your art. Another idea, is to make a sympathy or encouragement card for someone who might need to know you are thinking of them. Don’t worry about the perfect words; a lovely picture can go a long way to convey your thoughts. Of course, you could always share a card encouraging someone else to step out of their zone or letting them know just how wonderful they are just by being present in your life!

Yes, there really is something to this saying, ‘present not perfect’ that is so positive and freeing. Just jump into the moment and give what is uniquely you!

If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most InspirationalWe also ask that you let us know how your creation relates to the concept of being 'present not perfect' if it isn't readily clear within the design itself or clearly written somewhere else in your post. While you may easily see how the concept of being 'present not perfect' relates to your creation, it may not be as apparent to me or the DT members. That is why we ask that you clarify it somewhere, whether here in a comment on this post or in your blog post. You can simply write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge if it would be easier. We just need to know how your project ties into the theme. Letting us know clears up any ambiguity that may exist.

Remember, in order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes, ALL creations must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. You don't need to follow the optional theme if you simply want to have a chance at the Random Draw prize of a $7 gift certificate from Pickled Potpourri, one of our guest sponsors this month. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of a $10 gift certificate to the Imagine That Digistamp store, provided by the second of our guest sponsors this month.

Talking of our guest sponsors...

To learn more about this month's guest sponsors, be sure to check out the START post; and of course, also visit the individual sponsors themselves. Below you will find the watermarks for the wonderful images that the team worked with for the midway. Just click on any watermark to find that image's location in its respective store.

Thank you so much to this wonderful company for allowing us the opportunity to work with such incredible images during the midway!

To help inspire you further down the path of being PRESENT NOT PERFECT, check out the wonderful projects my Design Team had the opportunity to create. Suze has been rather busy this month creating a beautiful calendar. She showed us two of the months at the start of the challenge and we get to see six more, now! Also, Pat created two! Clicking on a team member's name will take you to their blog where you can check out the details for their inspirational creation(s).

Also, I too managed to create a project for the midway of the challenge but unfortunately, once again, I won't be able to upload it to my personal blog until Tuesday or Wednesday. One of these days, months, years, I might actually catch up and be on time!

Thanks again to my incredible design team! As always, each of them have their own unique styles and ideas which amaze me to no end. Each of these projects has showcased the concept of being present, not perfect, in various forms and manners and I hope we have inspired you throughout this challenge. Be sure to go and visit these talented ladies so you can see how their projects tie in to the theme.

Why not join us, if you haven't entered already? Create a project and/or post that is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature and join our link up. If you've opted to follow the theme of being present, not perfect, for the chance to win the Most Inspirational prize, provide an explanation of how your project and/or post relates to the theme somewhere in your post or come over and leave a comment with the explanation. Also, don't forget to leave FT after your name so we know to include you in the running for the prize. Easy, peasy! You can enter our latest challenge by clicking HERE.

Also, I know that the participants would love for you to go and pay them a visit. Remember we're creating a Path of Positivity to follow one project at a time and we'd love to see you somewhere on that route even if it is just by leaving a comment on an entry from someone who has touched you somehow with their project and/or post!

Don't Forget...

You have until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday to vote on your favourite entry for Challenge #48.  Voting is quick, easy and painless so I hope you will consider casting your vote if you haven't already. Winners for challenge #48 will be posted next Monday if everything goes according to plan. You can find the Top Picks post HERE.

Ponderings Along the Pathway...PRESENT, NOT PERFECT

Welcome to this month's edition of Ponderings Along the Pathway, an exclusive feature over here on the Path of Positivity. The purpose of this column is to continue with the goal of this blog which is to create a space "designed to inspire, nurture and provide support for the soul by creating a positive path to follow, one project or post at a time". Providing some motivational introspection on the themes we cover each challenge period is one way of achieving this goal.

This month it is all about being PRESENT, NOT PERFECT and PAT is here to share her thoughts on the subject...

Have you ever tried a new technique and didn't like the finished product? Have you ever passed up a challenge because the requirement was something you had very little luck in? Of course you have! We all have.

Just like life, art is not a destination but a journey, and every journey comes with its bumps and detours. Trying new things, taking a new or different artistic path, is how we grow in creativity. Pinterest is no good if you don't try the things you pin to your boards.

Last year I pinned  tons of water color paintings. I decided to try water colors for the first time. Guess what? For every painting I revealed to the crafting world, there were four others that I threw away. Some of the paintings were really just blobs of muddy watery blobs. Others were of unidentifiable animals and flowers. Yeesh!

But I should not have felt awkward sharing my journey. It was a learning experience. Everyone has to start somewhere. Great artists didn't just paint a masterpiece the first time they picked up a brush. We wouldn't have all those lovely works of art hanging in museums if they said at that time, "Oh, brother, maybe I should be a baker."

Nobody is perfect, but we all strive for perfection. Let me tell you, the things that make a work of art, a beautiful face, a career, - it's the tiny imperfections that bother the creator that make their accomplishments stand out at the top.

Apart from art, I want to tell you about my husband. When we first started dating, he would often complain about his crooked teeth. It didn't make him hideous, and I didn't notice they were crooked until he mentioned it. What I did notice was his smile. When he smiled, my heart melted. I fell in love, and the rest is history (40 years of history). To this day, I fall in love with him again and again when I see that beautiful smile light his face.

I have finally learned to forget perfection and enjoy the ride. Whether my art is a masterpiece or it becomes a great way for starting a campfire, I enjoy every minute of learning something new and creating something handmade. I choose to take a different stretch of the Path as much as I can. Am I a great artist? Puh-lease! Am I a happy artist? You bet!

I wish you  all the courage and curiosity to take a different branch in your own journey. Do it often, keep going, and you will discover the amazing talents that never would have blossom if you hadn't explored and experienced.

Happy crafting!
It is time for a new direction for most of us. If you are like me and tend to be a perfectionist, it is time to get it through our heads that we don't need to perfect, we simply need to be present in our journey, to no longer be afraid of the process. Of course, I didn't say it was going to be an easy road, now did I?! We should all take some time this month and reflect on Pat's words so that one day too, we can "enjoy the ride" as she now does!

Well folks, that is it for today. Enjoy your weekend everyone and please join us again on Monday when we will be back with the midway for our current challenge!

Challenge #49--Optional Theme: PRESENT NOT PERFECT..May 1st to June 4th

Welcome back to The Path of Positivity! I apologize for the delay in getting this post out. Normally, I have two other challenge blogs that need to be posted on the first of the month, and this month, the first Monday of the month which is when this challenge is posted, also happens to be the first day as well; so today, that makes three (and technically it should be four as I've created a card for this challenge). Unfortunately, I've stretched myself as far as I'm able to so something had to give and be posted a bit later than usual, and it happens to be this one. Apologies to my team who are always ready on time!

Without further delay, it is time for the next challenge to start. This time around, for Challenge #49, the optional theme* is "PRESENT NOT PERFECT".  Katrina Brown, one of our team members, came up with this unique theme idea and description (Thanks Katrina!). Here is what you need to know...

The Basics

While you can find out ALL the information you need to know in order to participate in the challenge by checking out the 'Challenge Details' tab at the top of the page (or by clicking HERE), here is a refresher of the basics.
  • ALL entries must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature.
  • *Each month there will also be an OPTIONAL theme to follow. Participants must follow the optional  theme in order to win the prize for Most Inspirational. If you choose to follow the theme, please follow the instructions below to ensure that you are considered for this prize.
  • All entries that abide by the general rules of the challenge, will be eligible to receive the Random Prize.
  • For both prizes, you can make any sort of project you'd like (i.e., scrapbooking page, card, tag, mixed media, digital, etc.). In fact, you don't have to create a project at all. You may just have something to say that is motivational or encouraging in some way, or a written passage that expounds on the nature of the theme. Project, written passage or both! It is completely up to you.
Now that the basics are out of the way, how about we get on with the details of Challenge #49.
