Congratulations

Hello everyone!

I feel like it's been forever, since I made anything, just for fun.  With softball season starting and work being crazy, I haven't had much creative mojo.  Since the weather is gray and overcast, and I'm home alone today, I decided to make some stuff.  I turned off my cell phone (which was more difficult than I expected, and an eye opener), turned up the music, and just created lots of fun things.  Here is the first card I made today.

The colors in my photo are a bit washed out, but this was the best of the bunch.  In real life the colors are much more vibrant.  I clear embossed the flower onto some watercolor paper, and then used my distress inks to watercolor it.  I then used one of my green Copic markers on a piece of vellum, for the leaves.  I love how the leaves have a bit of striation from the marker.  I wish the photo would have been better, so you could see it.  I added my sentiment, not stamped in black for a change, and some sequins to finish it off.  I had to fight the urge to add more stuff, but decided that keeping it CAS would be best.  LOVE how it turned out!  I'm going to submit this for the following challenges.

Color Throwdown #344: Coral Pink, Pale Yellow & Spring Green (I got as close as I could)
Freshly Made Sketches #188: Sketch
Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes
The Paper Players #247: Tic Tac Toe (I used sequins, embossing & die cut)
Pile It On #71: Focus on Coloring (I colored with distress inks)

I'll be back soon, hopefully, with another something crafty.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

You're The Bestest

Hello friends!

Happy Mother's Day!  After a chaotic week at work, I was blessed to be pampered by my lovely daughter, with a pedicure at our favorite spa.  She also cleaned the house all on her own, and made my mother and I breakfast this morning.  Sure do love my girl!  After weeks of long hours, and tons of weekend events, I was happy to finally get some time to be craft today.  Here is the card I made.

I really love the simplicity of this card, even with the layered flower piece.  The distressed cover up, and the ombre ink leaves are gorgeous.  I'm excited to finally use some of the goodies I'd accumulated, but hadn't had the opportunity to use.  If all goes well, I hope to have another something crafty for you this week.  We'll see how things go though.  I'm going to submit my card for the following challenges.

The Pink Elephant #297:  Appreciation/Thank You
City Crafter Challenge #260:  Mood Board/Inspiration Photo (I was inspired by the colors)
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes
Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Let's Get Sentimental
Can You Case It #69:  Sketch (my loose interpretation)
The Paper Players #244:  Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand & Pistachio Pudding (I tried to get as close as I could)

With Gratitude

Hi y'all!

I had some errands to run, so I took this afternoon off.  I'm still technically working from my cell phone, but at least I get to spend a little bit of time at home, so I can post my card. :-)

I wanted to join in on a couple more challenges, so here is what I put together last night.  I like it!

I have to admit, it's hard not to want to put a shaker on everything these days. lol  I think it's fitting for this sketch though.  I love the embossed vellum too.  I think it adds just the right touch.  There are lots of new, to me, goodies on this card.  And I am thrilled that my WPlus9 flowers turned out as well as they did.  Not bad for my first attempt, eh?  I will be dropping this in the mail for a dear friend, who is always there for me.  I hope she likes it.  I will also be entering this for the following challenges.

The Challenge #29:  Sketch
Butterfly Reflections, Ink: April Mood Board (dark blue, light blue, green and gold - inspiration photo)
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: April Shower and/or Spring Flowers (I went with flowers)

I'm off to get my taxes done (insert unhappy face), and then I'm going to take my daughter to dinner.  I will be back soon with another something crafty.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hugs!

Happy Birthday

Good Saturday to all!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope everyone has had a good week, and will get lots of crafty time, to make stuff this weekend.  It's another freezing weekend here, but that's ok.  I'm going to stay indoors, until we head to see the bull riding later tonight.  I haven't been to anything like that in years.  I'm sure it will be a blast!

I was excited to pick up some more MFT goodies recently, and wanted to play with them immediately.  Here is the card I made.  Love how this turned out!

The colors are bright and cheerful, and go very well, set against the kraft cardbase.  I'm thinking these dies are going to be used frequently.  I love how unique they are.  You could combine all kinds of colors and patterns.  The ideas are floating around in my head like crazy now.  I'm going to send this to one of my male friends, for his birthday.  It's masculine, right? lol  I'm going to submit this card for the following challenges also.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly: Take Your Pick (I chose the product theme, kraft)
Colour Me #60: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Deligh & Neutral
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes
Seize The Birthday: Masculine
ShowCASe Your Style: Birthday

That's all for me.  I'm off to do laundry, and try to make another something crafty, for fun.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Birthday

Hello my friends!

This is my second post for today.  Please scroll down to see my Word Art Wednesday card. :-)

I hope you're having a good week, and are looking forward to the weekend.  I made a few cards recently, but hadn't had an opportunity to get pictures until this afternoon.  This frigid weather, and two feet of snow, have made it almost impossible to get outside.  I think this spot on my desk at work will actually be a great place to snap a few pics from now on though.

Here is the card I have to share with you today.

I have been practicing with the CAS style again, and tried my hand at a masculine card for a change.  I really think this card is quite nice.  And, I even watercolored for the first time!  I've had these Winnie & Walter stamps in my stash for a while now, and was happy to finally ink them up.  Love the bold, silver sentiment on this one.  The recipient of this card is a pilot, so I hope he enjoys it.  I'm going to submit this card for the following challenges.

Seize The Birthday:  Anything Goes
CAS-ual Fridays #136:  Watercolor
Crazy 4 Challenges #271:  Masculine Birthday
Just Us Girls #278:  Sentiment As Focus
Mod Squad Challenge: Use Water (I watercolored the map image)

That's all for me today.  I'm off to work, and then hitting the gym with my co-workers.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hugs!

CASE-ing Christmas Challenge #5

Greetings!

Thanks for stopping by again.  I apologize, but this post is going to be short and sweet.  Somehow I forgot to set my alarm, and I overslept. lol

It's time for another CASE-ing Christmas challenge. Here is this weeks card, created by Mynn.  Love the colors...

And here is my card.

As I mentioned above, I LOVE the colors that Mynn chose for her card, so I went in that direction this time.  I also attempted to keep it pretty simple.  I just got this Memory Box ornament die and really like the detail it has.  And, even though I'm not a fan of glitter, I love the glitter paper I saw Jennifer McGuire use on one of her cards and had to try it out.  It's fantastic!  It adds lots of sparkle, and you don't get glitter on anything.  Win/win for me!  I'm going to enter my card for the following challenges.

The Pink Elephant #283: Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly: Take Your Pick (I chose the sketch, this is my loose interpretation)
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes

I have to run, as I'm going to be late for work.  I do hope you'll check out what everyone has created for you this week.  I'm hoping to get some crafty time in this weekend, so that I can share another card with you soon.  Also, don't forget to stop back on Wednesday, to see what my excitement has been about lately. :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Valentine's

Hi!

How are you doing today?  Have you had a good weekend?  I hope you've been able to get some crafty goodness in, and are creating stuff like crazy.  It was a gorgeous day yesterday here in NW Iowa, so I did lots of things outside.  I am so thankful to have caught up on some much needed cleaning, and we finally took down all of our Christmas decorations.  Today is gray and dreary, and I have been in my craft room most of the morning.  I've been organizing, and purging.  I purge twice a year, and donate whatever I'm not using anymore.  I love surprising people with random goodies. :-)

There are a couple of challenges I wanted to play along with, so here is a card that I made.  I'm happy to finally have a couple Valentine's made.  I was hoping to have them all done by now, but it's been busy.

I wanted to keep this CAS, and let the shaker and sentiment be the focus.  This is also my first attempt at any kind of ombre type effect.  I am digging it, and hope that the recipient loves it too.  I'm going to submit this card for the following challenges.

The Card Concept #27: Photo Inspiration
As You See It #71: Sketch
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Have A Heart
Just Us Girls #277: Photo Inspiration

I also have another card to share, that I made a week ago, but hadn't gotten around to posting it.  I took an idea from THIS post from Amy Rysavy, and changed it up a bit.  I love how it turned out.  This is R's Valentine this year.  I hope he likes it.

So, that's all for me today.  I'm off to make a big pot of veggie beef soup and then I'm going to try to get more Valentine's done.  Maybe then I'll feel like I'm caught up. lol  I hope all of you have a great day!

Hugs!

Happy Birthday!

Hiya!

How is everyone doing?  It has been a very long week for me.  We had three blizzards roll through our area, got tons of snow, work is crazy and my mom slipped on the ice and fell and broke her leg.  School was closed for two days, and they had a two hour late start the other two.  R and Hulk went home last Saturday, which is probably a great thing, because I have a feeling they'd be stuck here had they waited even one more day.  I can't remember a time when I've ever been this cold.  I just can't seem to warm up, no matter how many layers I've got on. lol

Anyway, I was hoping to get my Valentine's started, but it just didn't happen.  I did, however, get a fun birthday card done last night.  Here it is...

I love the fun, bright colors and patterns on this card.  I've been trying my luck at heat embossing on vellum lately.  It's an awesome look, but I can't figure out how to not warp my paper a bit.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  I am in love with sequins now too, but "randomly" placing them is so much more difficult than it seems, for me.  I spent a lot of time trying to make these look random. lol  I have a friend who will be celebrating her 35th in a couple weeks, so I'm going to send this to her.  I hope she likes it.  I'm going to submit this for the following challenges.

Sketch For You To Try #20: Sketch
Seize The Birthday: Birthday
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Old & New (I used older stamps and dies I've had in my stash, with new dies and sequins)
Papertake Weekly Challenge: Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Something New (New dies and sequins)

I'll be back soon, with another something crafty.  On Friday, I have another CASE-ing Christmas card for you, and in February and March, I've got some very exciting things going on.  I hope you'll check back regularly, for all of the fun stuff. :-)

Have a wonderful day!

Warm Birthday Wishes

Hi ya'll!

How has your weekend been?  Everything here is covered in white, and it's freezing.  R is NOT happy about the cold weather, but he's done a good job at staying warm, indoors. lol  Hulk on the other hand, has had a blast in the snow.  It's his first time being in it, so he's having fun rolling around in it, and trying to eat as much as he can.  He was adorable on Thursday night, jumping up and trying to bite at the snowflakes, as they hit him in the face.  He's so big that you forget he's still just a puppy. lol

While R has been cooking, and watching football, I have been in my crafty space.  I am excited about today's card.  I recently received my Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit, and oh my goodness, are the papers gorgeous!  I LOVED every single one of them.  I actually made three cards with it already.  Here is the first.

See what I mean about the papers?!  I adore this color combo, and am going to use every bit of my card kid this month, for sure.  I used some of my new SSS goodies that I got from R for Christmas on this card.  I layered the two snow flake dies, and then added another silver one (that you can't see) from Pretty Pink Posh.  For a bit of interest I clear embossed some polka dots on the sentiment panel, before stamping my sentiment in three different fonts.  I'm a bit bummed that you can't tell in the picture, but "birthday" is stamped in a deep purple and then clear embossed as well.  It's rich, and shiny, and gorgeous in real life.  I'm also kinda bummed that you can't see the sparkle on the wreath under the sentiment.  It's coated with a layer of Dazzling Diamonds.  This card turned out exactly how I had hoped though, and I'm sure the recipient will love it as much as I do.  I'm going to submit this card for the following challenges...

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes
Seize The Birthday: Birthday (optional: silver and gold, which I did not use)
Crazy 4 Challenges #266: Winter Themed Birthday Card

I'll be back soon, with my next card.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hugs!

With Sympathy

Hello friends,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  We had an amazing time this year.  R and Hulk surprised me by coming up the week before Christmas, and will be staying until after the New Year.  R never really confirmed he was coming, since he swore he would NEVER visit Iowa in the winter. lol I would have been a bit disappointed, but I would have understood.  The drive from Dallas to where we are is over 14 hours, and the weather in KS is usually quite scary around the end of the year.  He spoils me!  Although I'm sure he was not happy about the drive, he made my Christmas, and I am thankful that they made it safely.  I have been blessed beyond belief this year, and was glad that I was able provide an awesome Christmas for my family.  And even though the gifts aren't what we celebrate, it was cool to see their faces.

Unfortunately, one of my dear crafty friends lost her mother on the 23rd of December.  Her mother was a very strong woman, and won several bouts of cancer, before succumbing to it.  My heart breaks for my friend.  I know she was very close to her mother, and I can't even imagine how she must feel.  I cannot imagine  life without my mother, and am getting teary eyed just thinking about it.  We will keep my friend and her family in our prayers, and I will be here for her, in any way that I can be.

Here is the card I made for her.

My friend is a huge fan of the CAS style of cards, so I tried to make something that she would really love.  In this time of grief, I am hoping to send her a smile, even if it's only for a brief moment.  You can't tell in this photo, but the sentiment is embossed in silver.  I love the simple, yet gorgeous effect of embossing these days.  I was happy to find the following challenges, to help me pull my card together.

The Friday Mashup #190: Sketch w/Theme (my loose interpretation)
CASology #127: Light (I created a "sun" with my distress inks)
showCASe your style #5: Die Cut (I used my new SSS Stitched Circle dies)

I'm off to have some brunch (R is cooking), with everyone, and spend time with them.  I am hoping that once things calm down a bit, I will get some crafty time this evening.

Have a great Saturday!

Thanks For Being Awesome!

Hi y'all!

It's a gloomy, foggy, rainy Thursday here and I've got one of the worst sinus infections I think I've ever had.  I'm working from home today, but did get time to snap a quick pick of a card I made last night.  Here is what I created.

My friend Rochelle and I had been talking about all of the crafty stuff we own, but weren't using.  So, we decided we were going to challenge ourselves to make something last night, no matter what (operation #getchacrafton).  I have to say that even though this is simple, I love how it turned out.  I can't remember the last time I wet embossed anything, or if I've ever embossed on black cardstock. lol  I really think it looks pretty cool, as the white pops against the black.  I hope to try this again.  I will be entering this into the following challenges.

Cardabilities #109: Sketch (my loose interpretation)
Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Burlap Banner
Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Use Kraft

I'm off to do some more work, and hopefully rest a bit.  I hope everyone is having a great week, so far, and will get lots of crafty time to make stuff this weekend.

Hugs!

No Longer Two

Happy Friday!!

So, while I have been waiting for R and Hulk to arrive, I was able to create one more card for my collection.  As you've probably noticed, I don't make many shabby or vintage cards.  That's because I totally SUCK at that style. lol  Today, I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone and attempt something shabby.  Here is how it turned out.

I have to say, I'm quite impressed with myself. lol  I tried to channel a couple of my favorite shabby cardmakers, Andrea Ewen and Becca Feeken, and think they might actually approve of this one. :-)  There are more layers on this card, than any of my cards recently.  I think I'll have to continue this, as it looks awesome.  I love the old Bible print, and the background stamp with VersaMark too.  You can't really tell in the photo, but I gently sponged the roses with Spun Sugar distress ink.  They're really pretty in real life.  The only thing I think I need work on, is tying bows with seam binding ribbon.  I just couldn't get it to smooth out, once I had tied my bow.  It looks a bit awkward in the picture, but it's a little better, in person.  Eh, maybe I just need to practice more.  I'm going to submit this for the following challenges.

Mojo Monday #360: Sketch (it's not tall and skinny, i hope that's ok)
Shabby Tea Room #233: Celebrate (Photo Inspiration)
Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes
Word Art Wednesday #147: Anything Goes

I hope that all of you have a wonderful, and safe holiday weekend.  I will be back next week with another something crafty, hopefully.

Hugs!

Key To Heaven

Good day!

Since I will be studying all week, for my test on Wednesday, I was happy to get some time in my craft room last evening.  Here is the next card I have to share with you.

I'm not sure this turned out exactly how I pictured it, but I think it's pretty.  I don't know if I like the flowers at the top and bottom of the sentiment panel yet, but I think I'll just leave it alone.  I was excited to play along with the following challenges.

I'm off to my busy day of work, and then I'm hosting a "study group" at our house, for those of us who want the extra push to get things absorbed before tomorrow's test.  I hope all of you have a wonderful day!

My Whole Heart

Good Monday to all!

I hope everyone is off to a great start to their work week.  I feel like the weekend flew by, and I didn't really do anything but make cards.  Love that!  I wanted to make a card that was bold, and bright to send to R, but wasn't sure what to do.  Then, I remembered something he wore to the gym not too long ago, and had an "a ha!" moment.  He LOVES the bright neon yellow that is so popular lately, and I just happened to have received all of the Hero Arts Neon inks recently.  This is how things turned out.

This bright neon ink is fabulous!  In my picture it looks a bit more orange, but in real life it's definitely neon.  The contrast of the bright dots with the dark chevron stripes made me super excited, and I love the small pop of color added with the pink heart.  This card is bold, like R's personality, and it's bright and cheerful like his smile.  I wasn't in love with this card at first, but it's growing on me.  It looked like very simple card at first, but the more I look at this picture, there seems to be a bit more going on.  I could totally see a room in our house with these colors. lol  I was excited to combine the following challenges on my card.

Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Emboss It
CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #134 - Tic Tac Toe (Dots, Gray, Twine this time)
The Paper Players Challenge #206: Sketch
Pile It On Challenge #30: Embossing (the background panel with the dots is embossed with the Diamond Plate embossing folder)

Wishing all of you a great week!

With Sympathy

Good day ya'll!

I'm so glad today is Friday!  Unfortunately, I'm home with a sick child.  Even though she's almost an adult, this kind of sick needed "her mommy", as she put it. lol  We were up most of the night with projectile vomiting and everything else that comes with an upset stomach.  Thankfully, my supervisor allows me to work from home when I need to.  She's asleep now, so I hope she feels better soon.

Recently, one of my good friends lost his grandmother.  She was the sweetest woman.  She always took care of all of us, not just her grandkids.  She will be deeply missed.  Here is the card I am going to send his family.

I dislike making sympathy cards, when they have a purpose.  I just hope they find comfort in knowing she's no longer suffering and is in a better place.

I've combined the following challenges in my card.

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Emboss It
CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #86: Sketch
CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #134: Tic Tac Toe (I chose sequins, embossing & twine)

I'm off to finish working on a few things, and if I get caught up, maybe make another card.  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Masculine Birthday Card (That I Like!)

Greetings again folks!

I'm back today with a card that I am becoming very fond of, and can you believe it, it's a masculine card!  I know, I know.  I always say how I struggle with them, and only post about 1 out of every 4 or 5 that I make.  I just don't do well with masculine. *sigh*  Fortunately for me, I had a scrap from another project laying around, and I put it to good use.  Check it!

A dear friend of mine is celebrating his birthday and this is what I am sending him.  It's simple, and lovely, and masculine all at the same time.  I think I might have to incorporate more distress inks into my masculine projects from now on.  I think they go really well with the masculine themed projects.  I've combined the following challenges into this card:

Paper Sundaes #88 - Anything Goes
Ribbon Reel Challenge #11 - Birthday, inspiration photo, must use ribbon, lace or twine. (I made mine masculine)
Simon Says Stamp & Show - Men Only
Stamps R Us - Birthday

That's it for me today.  Back soon with some exciting news, hopefully, and more crafty stuff.
Hugs!
