Highlight
I received my MailArt from Laura today :) Very cool. It's really cool to receive fun mail. I really need to try this one day. I keep saying this don't I??
Not a whole lot happened today, pretty casual day. I was hoping for a sunny day so we could head out to Kootenai Falls, but it didn't happen. We did run a few errands but nothing exciting.
The geese still haven't figured out the pool but they still hang out. I've thought about trying to break up some of the edge of the pond so they have some water to hang out in.
I was all ready to feed the flying squirrels like Wendy does, but of course didn't see any last night.
I found out from a friend that there is now a Heineken Light out there. Hmmm....
I searched high and low in Sandpoint and couldn't find any. Between Montana and Idaho, we seem to be on the low receiving end of the newest products.
No pictures of the COOL spine yet, I know you're disappointed :(
It really needs to be cleaned, I don't want to gross you out too much. The hubs has agreed to do this, which I think is fair considering he's a surgeon. He's used to stuff like this :)
Not that it would bother me mind you, but he offered and I'm not going to argue with him about it.
I think it's about bear time......are you ready??

If you could extend any of the four seasons to be twice as long as normal, which season would you want to lengthen? Spring, definitely.

Today
I did find something really cool yesterday. I shared it with a couple of friends, and both were grossed out. But, I don't care. I thought it was cool, and when I get it cleaned off, you will see it too. Wanna know what I found??
An entire spine of an Elk. Yep..side of the road, completely intact, just wild. I made Hubs stop and pick it up and throw it in the back of the truck. So cool. I can't wait to photograph this baby :) It's longer than me! It's massive! Of course, it's not really gross. It's obviously been there since hunting season, and it has already been picked clean. With the snow melting now, it just showed up. So soon, you will see photos....bwahahahaha.
I also hung out a bunch of birdfeeders today. Oh! and I bought a kiddie pool for the geese. Yep, I don't have any water for them with the pond still frozen, so I bought a kiddie pool. They haven't figured it out yet though. The deer seem to think it's just a giant waterbowl.
Critter is healthy again and back to his troublemaking ways.
Otis is doing great too.
All seems to be back to normal.
For now.
Just wait till Hubs leaves....

Power
You Are Internal - Realist - Empowered |
You feel your life is controlled internally. If you want something, you make it happen. You don't wait around for things to go your way. You value your independence and don't like others to have control. You are a realist when it comes to luck. You don't attribute everything to luck, but you do know some things are random. You don't beat yourself up when bad things happen to you... But you do your best to try to make your own luck. You have a good deal of power, but you also know the pecking order. You realize that working the system does get you further. You know who to defer to and who to control. When it comes to the game of life, you play things flawlessly. |
She's Getting Out
I tried to keep Wednesday wordless, but I just can't do it.
We're headed into the big city today, some shopping to do and hubs has a dr.'s appt. I haven't been in almost a month, I'm not sure I'll know how to behave. What should I wear??? :P
I think I want a ferret. I'm pretty sure though I wont find one in Sandpoint, might have to drive to Couer D'Alene. Hubs seems to be all for it, not sure why. Maybe because he doesn't want another cat!
It's grey and cold today. Shocking, I know. The geese haven't shown up yet, but there were here all day yesterday. It would be really cool if they nest here. I think they are waiting for the pond to thaw. Since we missed out on Yellowstone, we will drive to Kootenai Falls this week, weather permitting. I have posted pics from there before, it is absolutely beautiful. I might search some out and repost later. I love going there and having some lunch down by the water. It's truly natural beauty :)
Ya'll check back later, see if I have a new pet or not...hee hee. (*you SO know I need another one, right??)
Way Back Wednesday
WBW theme this week is 80's fashion. I really couldn't find anything even though I know I owned parachute pants and neon colored socks :)
I did find this though, the IZOD. I'm pretty sure that was 80's...at least this pic was taken then. Oh and the hair, I think that was 80's too.

About Me
*oh and of course I changed it to the correct spelling*
Leesa
The Hidden Truth of Your Name
A KABBALISTIC SYNOPSIS
LYSA (Lamed, Yod, Samech, Aleph)
Leesa can make men feel very uncomfortable - a skill of which she is well aware and that she enjoys immensely. Leesa is attractive in her self-confidence. Her best feature is likely to be her eyes, which suggest that Leesa knows exactly what you're thinking about. Indeed, Leesa has a good understanding of what makes people tick, as she is an excellent listener. Her friends will often seek her out when they have a dilemma that they can't resolve alone. Leesa herself is rarely in this position, since she has a very decisive nature. While her strong personality may put some people off, there are plenty of prospective partners who will appreciate a woman who knows her own mind.
THE RUNIC INTERPRETATION
(Ansuz, Sowelu, Isa, Laguz)
Leesa is patient, thanks to the Isa rune of standstill, and she can focus with great concentration on highly detailed work. She could be an accomplished editor, conductor, writer, painter of miniatures, or succeed in any number of careers that reward a detail-oriented personality. Leesa has the Ansuz rune for signals, which means she is intuitive and perceptive. She can read between the lines. To some, Leesa can seem too skeptical and negative; this is just her attempt to avoid gullibility. Once Leesa trusts, she can be warm and vulnerable. The Laguz rune of flow makes her an original thinker. Leesa is a superb student of human nature.
Elements: Air, air, earth, water.
THE NUMEROLOGICAL INTERPRETATION
Leesa leads a very busy life, as her world is one of constantly shifting circumstances. The numbers in this name speak of a highly individualistic person, a woman who has a definite sense of herself and who has very definite practical goals and plans. Finances mean a great deal to her, and she will use her multifaceted personality to acquire the material objects she needs and desires. Leesa must have an exciting partner, one who is also financially secure or who at least shows financial promise.

Spring Finally?
The geese are back :) I love having the geese around. I had a pair last season that showed up everyday and hung out in the yard, or in the pond. They even brought friends some days. I'm sure they aren't very happy right now since the pond is still frozen. They did hang out with the deer for awhile today and ate corn.
It got up to 50 today, practically summer! Amazing really since it snowed the last two days. I actually opened a window today.
Yellowstone was canceled, but the hubs is in Livingston today fly-fishing with some friends for a couple of days. He'll then be home for the rest of the week so we might be able to do something else.
The weather looked like it might be bad towards Yellowstone so we didn't want to waste a 7 hour drive. That, and Critter is pretty sick and needs meds in his eye three times daily. It was either try to get someone to medicate him, which probably wouldn't have been easy, or take him with us.
My last cat that had a severe eye infection actually had a melting cornea and we had to remove her eye. Soooo, I'm not taking any chances.
I'm hoping this week we'll head into Libby where he can fish and I can catch some eagles. Let's pray my weather will be warm and sunny :)
MeMe About Me
I've decided to start playing Meme Monday since I rarely have much to post on Mondays. The object of this Meme is to pick something from your "Things About Me" list and explain. I had this memory blocked I guess, because I hadn't thought of it in years and years. But, it resurfaced last night while watching TV.
#51--I've never been arrested.
This is true. BUT, I came really really close once and it was an awful experience.
When living in Michigan several years ago, I used to petsit as a part-time job. It was actually a third job if you counted the two I already had. I worked alot, and was always moving.
One particular job I had turned into a nightmare...
I had come home after working a shift at a bar. I was tired. I let the dogs out, fed them and just chilled for awhile. I had forgotten to bring any clothes with me, so I just borrowed some t-shirt belonging to the husband, and promptly went to bed.
I woke up late the next morning and had to haul ass to be at my job at the veterinary hospital. I wasn't thinking, I was tired and went home with this shirt.
No big deal right? It's a t-shirt. I knew I'd be back at the house that day and could return it. I had it with me as I started my shift at the bar that night, but when I went to go home it was gone. Great.
With the schedule I kept, I pretty much forgot all about it. Until the couple came home. She called me at work to let me know this shirt was gone. I guess it was a "special" t-shirt from some bar they had visited in another country...blah blah blah. I realize that it was my fault and offered to pay for it or try to replace it. She wasn't happy either way.
Well...it gets better. Or, worse actually.
She called me the next day at work to tell me that some jewelry was missing. WTF??? I told her that was impossible. She mentioned some gold ring that was in a jewelry box that was gone now. She then reported it to the police. I was in shock.
The police called me the next day and "asked" me to come in. Which of course I did.
I was questioned by a woman cop. I don't know if that's the norm to put a woman cop with a woman suspect, but I have an idea a man would have been nicer to me. She was awful. She was mean. I'm pretty sure she didn't believe in the saying, "Innocent until proven Guilty".
She threw all kinds of questions at me, all insulting. She used the t-shirt as an example of me "stealing". She asked for numbers to my other petsitting clients, which I was more than willing to give. She then said, "of course, I'm sure you'll only give me the names of people you haven't stolen from". Again...WTF?? What had I done to deserve this treatment? I was sick. Literally.
She then mentioned that they would give it a few days to see if the woman would find her ring or not and then call me back in. A few days went by and she did not find her ring. I was called back down to the police station. In those few days, I was a wreck. I was stressed out and tired. I didn't know how I was going to get out of this.
On the next trip to the police station, there was another officer in the room this time. I'm not sure if it was to intimidate me or what. It was all intimidating. I had never been in any kind of trouble like this before.
She went through her questioning again, I guess trying to either trick me or break me down. I constantly told her I did NOT take this ring, but she refused to believe me. I can't remember exact words now, but she was very mean and demeaning.
I finally had the idea to ask for a polygraph. She looked surprised actually.
She asked if I was sure I wanted to do that and I said I was POSITIVE.
They scheduled it for a few days later. Again, I was terrified. I'm not sure why, I knew I hadn't taken the ring, but I had just never been through anything like this and I was just humilated and scared. I didn't want my jobs knowing this had happened. I depended on the petsitting money to keep my head above water. I figured it only took word of this for me lose my clients. And then what about my regular jobs??
In those next few days, I decided to call the woman that had accused me.
I explained things to her, the t-shirt, my life, my future..etc. I pleaded that she at least look harder for this ring. Maybe she misplaced it. Maybe she put it away safe. Something...please.
The morning I was supposed to take the polygraph, I walked into see mean-woman-cop, where she called me into a room...I'm thinking, "What now??"
The accusing woman found the ring. She had forgotten she put it in a safety deposit box. Geeezus. I actually looked at mean-woman-cop with a slight smile.
She didn't apologize, nothing. She just had me sign something and sent me on my way.
I swear I aged in that two weeks. It was an awful experience and I was treated terribly. I mailed some money to the woman for the shirt. I know it didn't replace the shirt, but it's all I could have done.
You know out of the whole experience the part that was the worst was that mean-woman-cop immediately treated me as guilty. As some kind of lowlife.
Now I remember why I blocked out that memory.

I Didn't Know It :)
You Should Be A Poet |
You craft words well, in creative and unexpected ways. And you have a great talent for evoking beautiful imagery... Or describing the most intense heartbreak ever. You're already naturally a poet, even if you've never written a poem. |

Lighten Up
It's grey and cold this morning. 32 degrees has chilled the house up quite a bit. Most of the snow is melted now, but we will probably get another blast soon.
Otis still has his sneeze. Critter has a pretty bad eye infection and he's not very happy with me treating it. It's the cutest thing to see him wipe that eye a million times after I put something in it :)
I was watching Imus this morning like I do just about every morning, and they got into this big discussion over the South Park issue. It cracks me up really. If you've kept up with this at all, and if you're a SouthPark viewer, then you already know what I'm talking about, and already know how ridiculous this is.
I have no issues with Scientology, but geesh--get a sense of humor. I realize that South Park can go too far, but this isn't the issue. The issue is below :
What I really loved was this quote by Isaac Hayes: "There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the soul legend said. "Religious beliefs are sacred to people and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices." , followed up by this one by Matt Parker and Trey Stone: "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology," Stone told the Associated Press. "He has no problem--and he's cashed plenty of checks--with our show making fun of Christians. In 10 years and over 150 episodes of South Park, Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslim, Mormons or Jews".
"So, Scientology, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun! … You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail!" --Trey & Matt.
I just love these guys:)

Rambling
Yesterday actually was a Spring day for us. It was sunny and clear and got all the way up to 41! It was actually a beautiful day, and for us 41 is practically summer. But...by 5:00 it had clouded over again and it's still that way this morning and snowing lightly.
I had weird weird dreams last night again. I'm not going to rehash the whole dream here, but one weird thing is that I was walking through my house looking for Otis. I couldn't find him and he was sick. Each room I went into in my house, there was someone sleeping in it. Someone I didn't know. It was very frustrating. Plus..I was dressed up! As if I was on my way to a party.
I never did find Otis in the dream, but first thing this morning I made sure I knew where Otis was.
He seems a little better, eyes not as drainy. But, still pretty miserable.
My flowers are slowly getting older, but still pretty. I've taken so many photos of them I feel like everyone's going to be so sick of seeing flowers! I really can't wait to have some growing outside again.
We're going to Yellowstone in a couple of weeks. The hubs is going fly-fishing with a group and I'm sure I will find plenty to photograph. The cabins we're staying in say they have internet access, thank goodness. Oh and they take dogs, so they will be joining us :)
I'm so ready to get out of the house for awhile.

Otis, part 2
Otis
He's sick. Very sick. I knew something was up when he scratched at the door Saturday night, came in and jumped up on the couch with hubs and went to sleep.
This cat never wants inside. He'll come in if it's below freezing or storming.
Otis came with our house. He lived here before us and didn't want to move with is owners. They would come and take him home and he would come right back. So, he's been ours ever since. He lives in a papasan chair on the porch and even has a heated blanket :)
He started sneezing yesterday, so I just knew what was coming. And, of course, hubs is gone.
This morning he is just awful. Upper respiratory infection, fever, not eating or drinking. He slept with me all night which of course is another sign. I didn't even need extra blankets last night, he was a mini-heater!
Unfortunately it's a virus so you just have to let it runs it's course. I am worried though that the rest of the cats will catch this and then it really will be a mess! He's still in bed this morning, so I'm trying to keep all the little busy-bodies away from him.
I did get him to eat a little bit this morning, but no water yet. Ugh. Sick babies :(
The Weekend
The weekend was pretty uneventful, which actually I'm glad.
Sunday was beautiful and sunny. I was so excited to see sun, I actually sat outside for quite awhile. Me and my camera.
The stars were out last night, I wish I could capture that for you. Not an easy shot.
It was a weird day too. One with feelings I can't really explain.
Ever have those off days? Wasn't great, wasn't bad. Just off. Like something was just a little off kilter, but I can't pinpoint it. Or, maybe I can and just don't want to. The subconsious telling you let it be. Who knows.
I've had this thought all day on the definition of perception/perceive.
:: To become aware of directly through any of the senses, especially sight or hearing.
To achieve understanding of; apprehend.
The way people perceive me, or I perceive them. Especially in blogworld, where all you have to go on is a photo, written words, or maybe even voice.
My mind is still playing with this one...so more to come:)

Smiles
The hubs signed me up for Monthly Splendor :) over at Flowerbud. Very cool :)
Blogger won't let me upload pics today. Not cool :(
One Year
At first I wasn't going to blog about this, but since a few of you actually remembered the date I thought I would at least aknowledge you :)
It was a year ago Saturday that Hub's son died. I posted on it, and received some great words from you.
I thought this weekend might have been rough, but it went very smoothly.
I don't have children, so I can't even begin to know what that loss is.
But, I will say it changed him. Not for the worse, but just changed him.
We decided to just spend the weekend like we normally would.
And we did.
And I was so impressed you remembered:)
Thanks.
