Food Review: Itacho Sushi (Ion Orchard)
Sunday, December 9, 2012 | back to top

1:15 AM

I love Japanese food, especially sushi. Fresh ingredients paired with pearl rice with a hint of vinegar ; I'm sold..! Having tried quite a few Japanese restaurants which offers sushi, I must say Itacho beats most of them in Singapore. I remembered my very first visit to Itacho, my aunt brought my brother and I for a lunch treat, 2 years ago. Boy, I was addicted to Itacho from then on. The food was fresh, sashimi was so was fresh and sweet and service was excellent.

Indeed Itacho prices is alittle more pricy as compared to Sushi Tei and Sakae Sushi. But in terms of freshness, I would say the difference in price is worth it (if you can afford it). Oh and the prices you see on their menu is for a single piece of sushi, unless otherwise stated. But they do offer some selection of sushi priced S$2 & below.

I wouldn't say that I am a regular of Itacho Ion, only patronized the Ion branch. But I get to satisfy my cravings for Itacho about once every other month, because my bf loves Itacho as well. =D

If you have the time, pop by Itacho on weekdays during lunch time. They offer value for money set lunches which cost less than S$18.

Lunch set S$12.50++ - I always order this if  I'm there during the lunch promotion

Salmon Lunch set

My usual or rather typical kind of orders when dinning at Itacho Ion  includes; different kinds of salmon sushi, salmon & scallop sashimi, ebi tempura with sea salt sushi, salmon skin with soy sauce and minced tuna with spring onions.

My say: Worth trying. There might be a queue especially during dinner time, so if possible head down earlier to avoid the peak hours 6.30pm.

Review: Santouka Ramen at Cuppage Terrace
Saturday, December 8, 2012 | back to top

10:37 PM

Santouka Ramen at Cuppage Terrace offers Hokkaido style ramen. Santouka has gained much popularity over the years, you might have to wait for a while during weekends as the queue will be winding and long. Diners can choose to seat in the restaurant or the alfresco area. The alfresco area seems like a nice place to chill out on a cool evening with friends over yummy ramen.

Just walk from Centrepoint shopping mall exit - pick up point area and you will see a row of shops and restaurants on your right once you cross the road. The restaurant is situated behind Centrepoint, it is the second or third restaurant at Cuppage Terrace.

Miso Ramen ( medium size)

The highlight was definitely the Kurobuta pork cheeks. The meat was tender and just... yummy! The meat almost melts in your mouth when you eat it. Must order!

For egg lovers, their hard-boiled egg is a must-try. The texture of the egg white and yolk is runny and taste awesomely good! This doesn't come with the ramen, so do remember to place a separate order.

My say: I would return back to Santouka for the awesome Kurobuta pork cheeks and the egg. The ramen was not too bad but not fantastic as what I had expected. Noodles were springy and the soup broth was more on the salty side as compared to other miso based ramen that I have eaten. Service was rather ok since I went there on a Saturday night with my girlfriend for dinner.

back to school...
Saturday, January 7, 2012 | back to top

12:06 AM

So school term has started... And for this semester I  see lesser familiar faces in class, maybe there's an additional class ( 4 instead of 3 ) this time round....

The least favorite on my list has to be my Macro then my IT lecturer.. Thank God, the lecturer for Law is pretty entertaining, for all you know this is a really dry subject.

I'm quite bothered with the assignments which was posted online, just today... There's so many question marks, how to attempt and write the most appropriate answers, when I don't understand what's going on.. And with the break for CNY which may and may not be a blessing in disguise, I got to rush and try to finish before the CNY break. If I really truly wanna enjoy the 4 days...

If I manage to pass all 3 modules.. My diploma course will officially end 2nd week of March.. I'll shelve the idea of pursing a degree for now... I need to get my ass back into the workforce..

Money, commitment, dreams. Life is decent now.. Decent but not good enough.. I'm hungry for success, hungry for a better life for myself and my family, hungry for so many things...

How to feel like you are special and important to someone?

I think it differs at every stage.. Courtship, dating, married stage.. I think during courtship, every girl is a princess, being loved, cherished and happy without being accused of being unreasonable... No.. It's not that when you're in loved that you won't feel loved, cherished and happy.. But the expectation u have of your lover is higher & more.. And as time goes by, the other party will tend to disappoint you in a way or another... I wish that such thing will never occur..

Not that I'm perfect.. But ain't a couple suppose to be more willing to give especially when the other party is not in their best state?

Maybe my point of view about marriage is right, maybe not totally.. But the overall feeling towards marriage has more cons than pros So is marriage the start of a new life?, or an end? It seems that not wanting to settle down yet cuz I'm still not a believer that every couple should - date & get married...

I think the disappointments and whatnot, always always make me bit by bit more apprehensive towards - "marriage"..

I think my decision still remains.. At the very least, hopefully...... You'll prove me wrong...

When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.

better off this way....

the only constant is change.

At this point of time... I'm asking myself what do I really want?

The ideal lifestyle that I want to lead..To live in comfort? The ability to spend without having to worry about money... Financial stability... To have a family of my own? I imagine having a nearly 'perfect' family... But many of these projected images freaks me out... I realize that I'm not that ready - not prepared giving birth & raising kids, under house arrest bogged with the endless commitment....

Ironic...

People of my age, friends, classmates- they are getting engaged/married... I feel the happiness when I see the pictures of these happy moments.. But I'm so not looking forward to such a thing for the next 2-3years... Maybe I'm not the kind of girl who can withstand those long term relationships which can be a little draggy or messy should anything happen..

I'm happy with my status now.. Because I'm not married, there isn't any need to answer to parent-in-law & husband... Call me selfish?

.

Everyone deserves a chance in making their own choice... Rightfully something that makes them happy... That's what I believe...

I'm still holding on to something that I know will never happen, because inside me, I have this little piece of hope that someday, it will.
