single owner, river view

This week has been full of *heavenly* blue skies. I took this photo early one morning as the sun was beginning to peek into the windows of the Riedel Farm Estate near where the Mississippi River cuts between St. Paul and Minneapolis. Looking out across the River from the farmhouse I was able to capture the last bit of the full moon and its reflection between the trees. All in all, a lovely way to begin a new day!

some things never change

My first December in Minnesota was in 2006 when I took this photo of the early morning moon near our apartment . It was an unseasonably mild winter at that point with just a bit of snow now and then. But the natives warned me. . .
Fast forward to early last December when we had this moon and the blue moon at the end of the month. I took this on a snowy morning in nearly the same bunch of huddling trees.
And the Minnesotans knew what they were talking about! This year has been harsh, snowy and very much like 'the old days.'

SkyWatch: while the city sleeps

Last Sunday I visited the Cathedral in St. Paul and took this photo of the sunrise from the steps of the church. The Excel Center is in the foreground with a bit of marquee showing.
Above the cathedral the moon was slowly fading; and the air was clear and cold.

SkyView Friday before the sun comes up

On my way to an early morning dentist appointment I captured this hawk and full-moon sky view before getting 'in the chair.'
