E is for feathered friends

E is the letter du jour for ABC Wednesday, Round 5. My E offerings are birds of a feather: eagles from the National Eagle Center in Wabasha and Snowy Egrets on the lakes near my home.

Visit more ABC Wednesday friends to see what E's they have up their sleeve.

Happy Wednesday!

Again with the fishing!

You betcha! Again this week it is all about the fishing antics of the sleek and not-so-sleek visiting birds--a white egret who had just swallowed a fish when I took its picture (note the fishy crook in its neck) and the Canada geese shamelessly raiding the same lake, with a ratio of 9:9 butts to whole birds.
There's just no privacy in the wild.

Note to self:

One flat, double occupancy--Camera Critters

I have been hanging on to this photo for a post on Camera Critters since September. . .and am I the only one who feels that time has been spinning out of control? All of a sudden we have snow and freezing temps and I needed to show this photo before next September!

So, I caught one white egret and great blue heron, both now long gone. on a peaceful morning sharing the same snag over a great fishing hole.
I'm all for peaceful coexistence -- AND sharing the wealth fish whenever possible. Clicking on the photo will give you a better view of these two unlikely roommates.

SkyWatch Friday : I can see clearly now!

For SkyWatch Friday I am sharing this lake view, once again--only this time the water was like glass with every single leaf, needle, creature and piece of blue sky nicely reflected. Rounding the water's edge, I scared this white egret away from his fishing hole. He lumbered off quietly while I was amazed at the wingspan on such a narrow, long legged bird. The photo below was taken on the opposite side of the lake. Was it him? 'Well, you know how it is, they all look alike to me!' she answered, tongue in cheek.

Take a look at SkyWatch Friday for literally hundreds of amazing photos from all over the globe.

Happy 4rd Friday in August!

Thank Goodness, its SkyWatch Friday

My contribution to SkyWatch Friday--there's a white Egret hidden among the lily pads and shade of the tall trees next to the lake, listening as I approach. Any white showing through is the overcast sky's reflection this morning.Wherever it was
I was supposed to be
this morning--
whatever it was I said
I would be doing--
I was standing
at the edge of the field--
I was hurrying
through my own soul,
opening its dark doors--
I was leaning out;
I was listening.
