Getting feverish!

Heheh……not the kind that has a temperature of above 38 degrees Celsius though it could get up to that high should I get all excited! LOL! *blush*

What in the world could I be talking about? LOL!

Akademi Fantasia fever that is! LOL! *blush*

Yup! It is back! This time, I am more excited about the principal and the two hosts and the person taking over Trek Selebriti from Jimmy that is getting me all feverish and excited as opposed to being excited about the students themselves1 LOL! *grin*

The minute I heard that Norman KRU is going to head the Akademi, I got all excited already and could not wait for when the Diary is going to start. I have always been a `fan’ of KRU, but not so much for the songs, although I do like most of their songs, but more for their business sense and what they have become from when they first started out some 15 odd years ago.

They are a few of our local artists who have managed to stay in the industry after all these years and be successful by being versatile and able to expand and diversify from their original status of just being a group of boys rapping to successful business men in almost all fields of the entertainment. I have noted that almost every singer that goes under their label has tasted success. Just look at where Adam AF2 is now, just to name one example.

I was in fact hoping that KRU would some day sign up Aril of AF7 as I would like to see him go far in the industry and that can only happen when one is under a strong label. Maybe someday that will happen when Aril is no longer attached to AEIB and Enfiniti.

Another reason why I am getting feverish and can’t wait for this Saturday when they will be introducing the new set of students is because of the two hosts who will be helming the concerts for the next 10 weeks! Yup! Sarimah Ibrahim and Jimmy Shanly might just get the weekly concerts hot and exciting again after 2 seasons of freezing cold concerts in the hands of AC Mizal. Finally he is out! *grin*

Both Sarimah and Jimmy are known to be very talkative, especially Sarimah who can talk non-stop. I just hope that she remembers to give Jimmy a chance to talk! LOL! Putting them together is like putting two balls of fire together hoping for them to make fireworks, and they just might succeed!

The 3rd reason why I am getting all excited and feverish is because I have heard that Aril might be temporarily taking over hosting the Trek Selebriti during the time that Jimmy is busy hosting the weekly AF concerts!

If this is true, than looks like for the next 10 weeks, I am going to be glued to the TV starting from Friday nights when Trek Selebriti comes on air, to the Concert on Saturdays, and to Sundays, when the results will be revealed as to who will be eliminated for that week!

I have told my hubby that I am already feeling the fever and `warned’ him that I will be ‘taking over’ the remote control starting from this Friday for the next 10 weeks! LOL! He said that he has gotten immunity from the AF fever already which he has developed over the last 7 years! LOL! *grin*

A Saturday with a difference

Well, it’s not that different actually. It might even be boring to people who goes out and socialize all the time, but, to me who likes to spend her weekends at home working on her crafts, and attending to the household chores and Aiman’s and hubby’s needs, this Saturday we decided to do something a little different. We, as in my son and I (my hubby wasn’t interested. *grin*) went to watch a mini concert at Plaza Alam Sentral, Shah Alam.

Err..what Mini Concert? A “Kau & Aku” Mini Concert featuring Aril, Akim, Mila and the rest of the “Kau & Aku” cast currently playing on Astro Ria Channel 104. Astro is doing a showcase of the musical drama to appreciate the fans who have been following the musical drama every week on Saturday nights.

Am I one of those fans? *blush* LOL! *grin* I watch it on and off, and only to catch Aril. *blush* Ask me what’s happening now in the drama, and I can’t tell you because I only catch bits and pieces of it and would usually watch it in between working on my bags. I find some of the actors too overacting and the script not that very well thought of, sometimes making me cringe! LOL! Maybe that’s because the script was meant for the teenagers and not for someone above 40 like me? LOL! *grin*

I watch it anyway, once in a while, just to watch Aril and it’s a drama where you can just watch it without having to do much thinking. It’s purely watching just to have some fun! *grin*

Anyway, I was actually looking for a laptop bag pack. My only laptop bag pack had a tear that looks like it might give way at any time while I am carrying it on my travel. Since I might be travelling again quite soon, I needed a laptop bag pack in a hurry and so suggested to my hubby that after Aiman’s usual Saturday classes, why don’t we drive over to Shah Alam, Plaza Alam Sentral to be exact – trying to kill two birds with one stone here – to have lunch at a different place instead of the usual restaurant we eat at almost every Saturday. At the same time, I can also get to look for a laptop bag pack AND maybe also be able to catch the Mini Concert! LOL! *grin* That’s killing 3 birds with one stone! LOL!

We had lunch at Thai Fusion Steamboat, Plaza Alam Sentral – I LOVE STEAMBOAT! We settled for the Set Meal for 3 people, but I did not take any photos of the food this time around as I had a bad experience the last time I was in a restaurant and wanted to take photos of the food (I will post about it later).

The steamboat was nice! We had it with Tom Yam soup. The portion was just nice for the 3 of us for lunch, but, for some reason, I started getting hungry again at 6.00pm! LOL!

Anyway, when we were done with lunch, we were just in time for the concert to start at 3.00pm. We made our way to the stage at the atrium of the shopping mall and I was mighty surprise at the flood of people already waiting for the concert to start.

I never expected such a crowd knowing how Malaysians can sometimes be quite blur, duh and boring when it comes to concerts, unlike in the US where the fans go crazy whenever they attend concerts of their favourite celebrities.

But, I certainly was wrong this time around. The crowd was very excited and eager to meet their idols from Kau & Aku. In fact, when we arrived at Plaza Alam Sentral at about 1.30pm for lunch, the crowd had already gathered around the stage even then. So big was the crowd that the only way we could even try to get a glimpse of Akim, Aril and Mila was by going up to the 3rd floor. At that level, all we could see were the top of the heads of Akim, Aril and Mila! LOL!

As soon as the concert started and Aril, Akim, Mila and the rest of the cast came on stage, the crowd got very excited.

They were trying very hard to get as close as possible to their idols, calling out to them, wanting to shake hands with them, but were restrained by the security guards who were quick to prevent the crowd from pulling their idols off stage.

The crowd that afternoon, which I think consists of a mix of the very young, teenagers, young adults and even some in my age group and older, were very sporting. They were cheering, clapping, waving, and singing along to every song sang that day. I was amazed that they seem to know all the songs by heart! A real big fan they are!

We did not stay to watch the concert till the end as I still need to look for my bag pack and I also needed to buy some workbooks for Aiman. We left the concert to do some shopping after Aril sang my favourite song from him, “Menatap Matamu”.

It was nice to do something out of the ordinary once in a while. I enjoyed the steamboat lunch, and the mini concert was a nice touch to a usually routine Saturdays, not that I am complaining. I am happy just the way things are. Anything out of the ordinary is a bonus! I actually even managed to snap a close-up of Aril just as we were leaving the shopping mall. LOL! *grin*

Shuffle Milikku dan Kau & Aku - my humble opinion

I happen to catch this telemovie last night - Shuffle Milikku, where Aril (yup! I am still a fan of Aril despite AF7 being long gone, and AF8 coming up already! LOL! *blush*) was the lead actor along with Yazid in a supporting role. It was a simple yet sweet telemovie. Touching to a certain extent.

It wasn't the greatest telemovie and probably won't win any wards, but I find the movie better casted (Aril's was better paired with this girl, Roza - I don't know her real name - compared to Mila in "Kau dan Aku", in my humble opinion) and the script better written. The story line was much better thought off, compared to the hurried-made "Kau dan Aku". Definitely, it is a better drama to watch compared to "Kau dan Aku" where I watch it only so that I can watch Aril! LOL! *blush*

I wondered why Astro never promoted it. I only happen to catch it while flipping the channels finding what to watch. Aril played his part well, and so did Yazid. The acting wasn't overdone, unlike the acting in "Kau dan Aku".

I felt that "Kau dan Aku" was done in a hurry without much thought to the storyline, the script and the casting. The acting was overdone - overacting, is that is the right word to use. The actors and actresses were not well casted. I felt that right from day one that Mila simply did not suit the part of Aril's girlfriend, where Aril is so crazily in love with her. Farah and Anita were too much overacting, and the storyline was simply childish. Maybe teenagers would appreciate it, but I felt that Astro was too much trying to imitate High School Musical, only it turned out almost a flop. This is just my humble opinion.

It did not give justice to the kids' talents, I think, unless the actors and actresses are actually bad actors and actresses. But, watching "Shuffle Milikku", I think Aril can act.

I think Astro was in a hurry to take advantage of the AF kids' popularity. Remember that they did the drama immediately after the AF season was over? They knew that it would bring in a lot of viewers. I sometimes cringe at some of the scenes, and would usually do other things while I wait for scenes when only Aril appears. I skip all the other overacting scenes, especialy those with Noni and her ever sleepy eyes, and Farah's exaggerated acting. Again, this is just my humble opinion and obsevation.

BTW, I even caught this new program "Rocket Bintang" or something like that just before the telemovie "Shuffle Milikku", and I think Tiara was trying to do too much overacting, especially when she scolded Aril, Hafiz and Akim for not turning up for practice on the first day.

I think it was an act to make it look dramatic. If I have read about Aril correctly, he is said to very professional when it comes to work, so it is not possible that he would forget to attend rehearsal classes, especially on the first day of their stay at this exclusive Enfinity Condo or something.

I think Tiara is dramatizing again like she did on AF7 when she announced the AFMASUK time. I pity that the kids are being used again. *sigh*
