The Graduate

Last week was quite the week

it was busy ~ but a good busy

you see this little girl

graduated high school

I won't lie to you ~ it has not been an easy road for this one

and we did not know whether this day would ever come

but she made the decision to go back to school in September

and she stuck to it and made it through

she was actually finished in January after her exams

and said she did it and was not going to bother with prom or graduation ceremonies

I am so glad she changed her mind!

prom was Monday ~ she looked stunning in her shimmering gown

it was navy blue and she had plenty of "bling"

so she shone just like the diamond she is

her boyfriend is pretty handsome too

they had a ball at prom

Thursday night was graduation

I won't lie and will tell you that I had tears in my eyes

I was bursting with pride

and I kinda love that she graduated from the same high school

that I did ~ 31 years ago!

I wrote the following on Facebook when I got home after prom

and posted her pictures

I met this little girl when she was 2 ~ she soon had my heart and became my niece soon after. 

She has grown into a beautiful young woman and seeing her tonight brought tears to my eyes 

and a heart full of love. 

I cannot wait until Thursday night to see her in her cap and gown.

Celebrating 49

I look back at the years stretched out behind me and smile

so many memories ~ so many good times

I am blessed to be where I am today

there is a whole lot of living and loving coming

Special Day

Today I celebrate

November 20th is a very special day indeed

as 3 people that I adore

are having a birthday today!

first up is my best girl ~ my cousin ~ Gina

I love her like a sister

we are the proverbial 2 peas in a pod

and I miss her so

this is the first year in a long time

that we have not been able to see each other

busy schedules and distance have kept us apart

so today I celebrate her ~ I love you to pieces 

next up in Gordie

he is Trevor's bestie

best man in our wedding

and one of the best people I have ever met

Gordie loves the cottage ~ and can't sit still

he always has a project on the go

and enjoys a good game of crib and a drink of rye

he is a forever friend and although we don't get together as often

as we should ~ I love getting the call that he is coming for a visit

last and certainly not least

is someone that is very special to me

although I have not yet met her in person

we have known each other about 12 years or so

long before the blogging days

she is one of those people that lift me up when I am feeling down

her smile is contagious

and I love her heart

so today I raise my glass and toast these 3 beautiful hearts

that mean so much to me

it is my boy's birthday today

and after sending him off with a hug & kiss this morning

I will make him a treat and leave it in the fridge 

with a note so he will get it at lunch time

then tonight we will head out to dinner

and it is his choice

Happy Canada Day!!

It's Friday

and

it's a holiday here

so that makes me a happy, happy girl

I am getting my salads ready

for the bbq tonight

and donning red & white

because that is the way I roll on my favorite holiday

other than Christmas...

we will head to the park

and amid the sea of red & white

we will meet up with some friends

and spend the afternoon

just taking it all in

of course there will be cake

hot dogs & hamburgers

and if we are lucky

Dominion Dog will show up

and shower us with sloppy kisses!

we will head home and hang out on the deck for awhile

and then have our own little bbq

before we head across the bridge

and take in the free concert downtown

featuring April Wine

an old favorite for sure!

Then we will take in the fireworks display

put on by our tri-community area

 

then back home for some nibblies and fun

with friends

no matter where you are this holiday week-end

give a nod to the maple leaf

and remember...
