Seymour Christmas Parade Happening Sunday, Dec. 8

SEYMOUR- Mother Nature had other plans in mind last week, forcing the cancellation of the town's annual Christmas Parade, but the festivities are back on for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.

The parade, with more than 50 marching units, including bands, local scout troops, sports leagues, floats, emergency vehicles, and of course, Santa Claus, himself, will step off at 2 p.m. from the Seymour Community Center, 20 Pine St. The line of march will continue through downtown, stop at the reviewing stand on Main Street and disband at French Memorial Park.

Longtime Seymour Middle School Teacher Harvey Catlin will head the parade as this year's Grand Marshal.

Bookstore opens in downtown Derby

When I visited Kathy Conroy-Cass, owner of St. Anthony's Book & Gift Shop today in her new location at 142 Main St., Derby, I spied this interesting statuary in the store window.

The store stocks religious-themed jewelry, personalized gifts for baptisms, communions, confirmations and weddings, books, cards, candles, church supplies, and more.

And one could call this "a sign from God."

Santa spends Saturday greeting folks in Ansonia

Santa Claus, a.k.a. Alex Campanelli of Milford, waves to passing cars on a sunny Saturday in front of Dunkin' Donuts on Pershing Drive, Ansonia,

Campanelli, 18, said he was simply trying to brighten up peoples' day.
Most motorists waved back to him and gave him a friendly beep of the car horn, he said.

"Everybody loves Santa," Campanelli said with a grin.

As a side note, I spied Santa Sunday in the rain waving to passing cars again. Now that's dedication.
