friday fun

I had the day off and we wanted to do something fun.
We met up with Mich and Jen at the splash pad for a few hours in the morning.
Cute girls:

After we were done there we met Ethan for lunch on his break.
I love when that happens.

My friend, Amy was going to the pool in Lindon so we met up with her there.
We had never been to this pool but we really liked it.
The kids loved the lazy river and the slide.
I loved that they could go pretty much anywhere and be OK.
We stayed until the pool closed.

We stopped at Costco for groceries and dinner.
Churro and pizza.

When Ethan got home we had movie night.
The kids love movie night.
We had wanted to set the projector up outside but it was too windy and hot.
So we set it up in our room and it was so fun.

Nitro Circus made the kids laugh and they have since watched it about 10 times.

After the kids went to bed, Ethan set up Killers videos on youtube and we watched them until we fell asleep.  Sounds nerdy but we actually quite dreamy.

swim week

My Mom is teaching swim lessons in her pool and our kids are included.
The stayed up at their house all week from Monday afternoon to Thursday afternoon.
After I dropped them off on Monday, I went in for the closing shift at work.

Tuesday I had the day off.  We started it out with breakfast at the One Man Band diner.
We were the youngest ones there by 40 years at least.

After Ethan left for work I went for a bike ride to downtown Springville.
I love our little town and really enjoyed riding the streets.  I was wishing I had someone with me to talk to and say, "hey, that's a cool house" to.

This strip of road between the main road and our developement is lined with fields...corn and pumpkins.  In the morning is the best light and everything glows.

Tuesday night, Ethan coached baseball and I went and watched the game.
He is a great coach and really encourages all the boys.
After the game, we hightailed it to the movie to see the new Star Trek.
It was good and so fun to be on a date.
After we got home we decided we were hungry and took off for In and Out at midnight.
We felt like college kids or something being out by ourselves.

Wednesday I worked and then we had dinner together.
We made a late dessert and sat around the island with some of Ethan's friends.

Thursday we both worked and then I went and picked up the kids.
We both really missed them.
They were so excited to see me and both gave me huge hugs.

They loved swimming all week and are excited to go to the second week tomorrow.
Ethan and I loved all the US time.  It was needed and appreciated by us both.
Thanks Mom and Paul.

birthday week + the killers

My birthday was so fun this year.  It lasted all week and I certainly felt the love.
Monday night my KGB girls and I went to the Riverwoods to grab a waffle from the Waffle Truck.
The whole outdoor shopping area was decked in Christmas lights and we walked right up to see Santa.

On Tuesday, I turned 33.  Ethan and I both had the day off.  We sent the kids off to school and then hightailed it up to Salt Lake.  We went to the new Paper Source, Crate and Barrel and had lunch at Chipotle.  It was a fun time and I'm always grateful for day dates.  For dinner, Mom, Jackie and Rick met us at the Bombay House.  Yum.  The tikka masala was so good.

I had Wednesday off from work too.  My favorite big C ladies took me to lunch at Cubby's.
Then we went and got our nails painted.
Such a fun day.

Add tried to steal my birthday boots:

Friday, I had lunch with my friend Courtney which was so nice.
Friday night Ethan and I went with our friends to see the Killers!
Us, Megan, Mich, Cam, Anna and Carl.
It was a blast.
We had tickets on the floor and I was so excited.
I jumped around and danced and sang my heart out.
So happy to have Ethan there to enjoy the show.

Their shows are out of this world.
I love the lights, smoke and fireworks.
(photos by Et, I was afraid I'd lose my phone)

During Here With Me, they had everyone hold up their cell phones, it was amazing.

Kade has found the joy in comfy clothes.
He usually only wears them on Sundays before/after church.
I love that they want to hang out where we are.

Sunday morning it snowed.  Add went down to see if Sage could play for a little bit.
I loved seeing her foot prints down to Sage's.
She has walked that walk back and forth probably hundreds of times.
For some reason it seemed significant to me.

We had a laid back Valentines.  I didn't really want to mess around with the crowds or pay a babysitter.  I planned on making fondue, bread and creme brûlée for dessert.  Everything took longer than I thought, the bread didn't turn out quite right...finally I decided it wasn't worth getting flustered over.  I called Two Jacks and picked up cheese sticks.  I gave Ethan a Diet Mountain Dew with a  "dew me" love note.  He loved it. We watched the Help in bed.  We had our favorite candies and our drinks and it was actually quite perfect.

We made fondue together last night.  It was delicious and the bread turned out.  Life goes on, right?

our 10th anniversary

Ethan and I had our 10th wedding anniversary yesterday.
I thought it was a pretty big deal.

The kids helped me fill and hide 130 balloons on Tuesday afternoon.
That night I waited for Ethan to fall asleep.  He usually sleeps like a log, but he was restless.
I was afraid I was going to get caught moving all the balloons from their hiding spot into our bathroom.
We have a bathroom right off our bedroom and I wanted to fill it with balloons as a surprise.
I also hung a Happy Anniversary banner on the mirror.
It turned out pretty cool and I didn't get caught.
When he woke up in the morning he was surprised and the kids were happy they were in on it.

We had a pretty lazy morning together and then took the kids to the babysitter.
We had lunch at Pizzeria 712 and then went to see Crazy Stupid Love.
We finally broke our bad movie streak!
It had some really funny parts and overall we both liked it a lot.

 {I need an eyebrow wax and I LOVE my new ring!! i should show a better pic}

{Too much diet cherry coke caused this face}

We spent the afternoon at home and let the kids play outside with their friends.
For dinner we went to Communal.
It was fun to dress up and have a nice dinner together.

10

{slightly blurry photo by Kade}

10 years together as Husband and Wife.

1. I love that we are always on the same wavelength
2.  I really like when we have dance parties in the kitchen
and that you aren't so embarrassed about car dancing anymore.
3. You make great food and we make a good chef/sous chef team
4. You make me feel more beautiful than I am
5. You work hard and are great at what you do.
6. You make me laugh every single day
7. You like sports and are manly but will indulge my creativity
ie: attend plays, concerts, art shows, endless projects, etc.
8.  You make the best chocolate milkshakes, usually at 10 PM
9. You are a great Dad and love our babies to pieces
10. You let me be me

I love you forever.

Date night

So I read this blog that has a feature called Dinner at Eight.
It is where every month she sets up an at home date for her and her husband.
I thought it was a cool idea.

Last night was our first Dinner at Eight.
(The theme for this month was picnic but it poured yesterday afternoon, so I went to plan B)
I fed the kids and set them up with movies upstairs.
They had snacks and instructions to go to bed when the movie was over.
When Ethan got home from work we had dinner together.

It had been a busy day so I'm proud of myself for pulling it off.
We had our friend's little girls here all day and Kade had some friends over too.
I even managed a shower before Ethan got home.
We had caesar salad, cheese tortellini with homemade tomato sauce and garlic bread.
For dessert we had homemade chocolate pudding with whipped cream while watching FNL on the couch. We are going to need to buy this soon -- Friday Night Lights: The Fifth Season

I thought it was fun and hopefully we will do another at home date.
I guess mainly I like the point of it....to be intentional in your marriage.
Marriage is great but you have to work at it.
Plus it was fun to have the kids help me out and let them know it was important for us.
Addi said, "SO you are having a date so you can kiss??"

life

I snapped this photo on the morning of Addi's birthday right before the doorbell rang with party guests.  It's super blurry but I still love it.

We had a great Sunday.
After church we had a family dinner for Add's birthday.
Eric, Jackie, Mom, Paul, Aar, Nan and boys were all in attendance.

ET and I made pulled pork sandwiches, pasta salad and had watermelon and pineapple.
I love that we are a team in the kitchen.
Addi helped me make lemonade too.
Red Velvet Nothing Bundt Cake plus icecream for dessert.

Lots of talking, laughing, boys running around.
Games with the Uncle and movies with Aunt Jackie.
Quick facetime with Bri and Rach.

The rain held off until right before bedtime.
Kade and Add ran around in it.
They are sleeping in Kade's single bed tonight, head to foot style.

Down time, clean up and now the week starts over...
