a busy weekend

Life-Wise-Meaningful-Inspirational-Inspiring-Motivational-Quotes-877

With a houseful to look after the day can go by in a daze so it’s good to take time to enjoy the little things

our holiday again!!

SDC16584-003

You can’t visit the Island of Jersey without being aware of the years they spent under German occupation.

SDC16587-001

We went underground to see the war tunnels which showed how the Islanders who stayed managed to survive.

and heard Churchill’s speech when the Island was liberated

after our evening meal we had a lovely walk by the sea watching the sun set

the swap

swap2

This month about 50 blog friends have been busy joining in Sian’s Great big swap of very small things here

SDC16707

I received a lovely little parcel from Deb which has really cheered me up, hopefully my mojo will now return and I can start using some of the lovely things she sent me.

I sent a little parcel off to Lizzie this week and I hope she is as pleased with her little things as I am with mine.

Steam Museum

Driving around the Island is a little bit different to home for a start there is a 40 mile speed limit, though to be honest you often couldn’t go faster than 15mph.

SDC16544

We visited a little museum, where there were lots of old cars lovingly restored.

Our holiday in Jersey

Jersey has long been on my list of places to visit mainly because it was where my Grandmother was born, so for a 40th anniversary treat we decided to explore the Island.

SDC16527

The journey wasn’t the best especially as I was feeling ill and had to spend some time out on deck counting the hours until land came in sight.

SDC16528

After a goodnight’s sleep however I was ready to explore and this was the first place we visited, Devil’s Hole.

SDC16529

It was a lovely walk and the sea looked beautiful.

SDC16532

This was leading down to the hole, in Edwardian time’s you could climb down a ladder and explore, not so these days!

SDC16537

We sat and admired the view for a while and hoped we might spot a dolphin but no such luck, we were convinced they were hiding, ready to put on a fantastic display when we had disappeared.

What can be nicer than picking your own rhubarb at last

SDC16702-001

cooking it with a little bit of sugar and adding it to some homemade yoghurt.

What about making a rhubarb crumble I can hear my husband say!

Sometimes a gift might not last long but a thoughtful gesture can become a precious memory.

Do go over and read more precious stories over on Sian’s blog here
