Germany beat England ....again!!!

SDC10736

Another Sports Day and another win for Germany, but this time we're cheering. We've spent the afternoon at Becca's sports day and each team was a country from the World Cup. Becca unfortunately got Germany and it was very hard for some of the supporters to cheer them on! They did get a big cheer at the end though when they narrowly beat England to first place.

SDC10712

concentrating very hard.

SDC10718

SDC10720

Sports day

We have three sports days to go to this week and yesterday's was Alex's turn.

SDC10705

Here he is in one of the running races.

SDC10707

A close up to show technique!

SDC10699

Another race which seemed to involve a lot of effort on his partner's behalf, nice one Alex!

digi scrapping

DRUIDSTONE-WEB

I did this layout of an old trip with the children to Druidstone Park. The template was by Hummie and the kit by Jessica Sprague.

A new free class starts over on Jessica Sprague's site and I'm looking forward to making some cards using her tips.

lazy Sunday

51 YmC4TOoL__SL500_AA300_

An early morning stroll by the sea paddling in the water. Treating the grandchildren to an ice cream. A stop at the greengrocers for strawberries, peaches and grapes. England hopefully winning this afternoon and a good book to read.

A perfect lazy Sunday, hope yours is as good.

Football

Some people may have been watching the World Cup but we have had a much more important tournament to watch. Jamie and Alex have been in a friendly tournament today at their school fete.

SDC10694

Here is Alex waiting for the match to start, although not winning his age group the team didn't come last and it was lovely seeing him take part.

SDC10697

Jamie is an old hand at football matches now and was keen to participate. His team did very well and almost got into the final. It was good to see him back to full strength having had his leg broken before Christmas, it's a good job we didn't see the boy who deliberately stamped on it !!

Gradient tool

web

I bought another class from Jessica Sprague for a dollar today all about using the gradient tool. I have to say this one was a little more difficult to do as the template didn't have the border she was referring to. The idea was to only use the gradient tool on the photo but when I did what she said it affected the whole layout. I managed to select the outline myself though and make another border which created the same effect to make the journalling more visible, so some of my classes must be sticking in my brain!

Sunshine, garden, book!

759631

Summer finally seems to have arrived and I am enjoying sitting out in the garden and reading this latest book. It's the next in the Anna Travis series, I've loved all of them so far and can recommend them if you like a good murder mystery!

Cards

After a rush of birthdays my card box was looking a bit empty so I thought I'd better start making some more.

SDC10690

I made this one using a digi stamp from here and an old card kit from here. The image was coloured in with promarkers.

SDC10692

This card was also made using that old kit, very simple but I'd run out of steam by then. I'm finding it increasingly hard at the moment to get my stash out, that's the trouble when you have a good book and a bit of sunshine!

Knitting

SDC10689

I finally finished the top I was knitting for Rebecca and plan to walk over to Jenny's as part of my fitness campaign, to give it to her. It was a very simple top to knit and the wool was lovely to use only hope it fits! I've now picked up my cross stitch again as I really need to get that finished.

A new week

Hummie's-Template-05Square

Another template from Hummie and the free kit from Jessica Sprague. The photos are from Becca's birthday last year.

Another week and the diet is still going well, 8lbs lost so far. This week I plan to up the exercise a bit, have a bowls match this morning so that's a start.

Father's Day

YouAreAwesomeQP_erica

I had to do a layout of Ian today while he recovers from a roast dinner, sips a drink and eats some yummy chocs whilst watching the footie!

http://www.jessicasprague.com/ It's Jessica Sprague's 3rd birthday and to celebrate she and her team have been giving away a lot of digi papers and templates, I used one for the layout above. I've been busy downloading it all and it is lovely, thanks Jessica and co.

lazy Saturday

Hummie's-Template-04-Square

another layout using a template from Hummie and some papers from Jessica Sprague, the photos are from our recent holiday.

I'm still in shock from the appalling performance of our football team, I felt so sorry for the poor fans who had bought tickets, no wonder they booed! The team should be ashamed of themselves.

I am reading

I felt like a bit of escapism so I'm reading this Nicci French book, I've read most of their books and loved them.

Friends

friends

I bought another class for a dollar from Jessica Sprague yesterday and have just completed this layout. The emphasis was on changing words in your journalling to different sizes and fonts and was great fun to do. Now all I need to do is remember all these great tips I'm learning!

The Aunts

Untitled-1

A quick layout using a technique from Hummie on adding photos to frames and still being able to adjust them. This is an old photo I have from mum, I really must get all the names and keep a record as I don't know who they are!

colour wheels

2

For this class from Hummie we had to use a colour wheel and also a lot of adding and subtraction on the hue and saturation levels. I picked out the colour of Alex's jumper and then some complimentary colours for the grid. The photos were taken at Christmas when we all had a go at the wii Beatles game.

clipart brush

great-nan

Always on the look out for a bargain I saw a great class on making a digi brush from clipart going for 1 dollar over on Jessica Sprague's shop. The class came complete with this template and a mini kit, so after finding some photos I had a play. How easy it is when you know how, I shall definitely be making lots of brushes now, thanks Jessica!

another card

SDC10659

it's mum's birthday next week so I thought I'd better make her card. I loved what Kirsty Wiseman had done over on this blog http://bananafrog.typepad.com/ so searched around my inks and stamps to find something suitable. I used scribble flowers and funky flowers both from banana frog and the card came together very quickly.

The world cup has started so I won't see much of the television for a while apart from watching the England games, so I expect to be doing a lot more craft!

Hue/saturation

the-beach

Went back to Hummies today for the next lesson, this time it was about hue/saturation. I managed this layout using the colour picker and the hue/sat to change the papers and add the photo frames to go with the photos. There is so much to learn I will probably be doing the classes again!

Although I've enjoyed looking at the work being done over on the Bootcamp, I've not been able to do it myself, just too much on at the moment!

My diet is still going well, just under half a stone so far.

birthdays

SDC10655-1

We have quite a few birthdays in June so I thought I'd better make some cards. Trying to get some ideas I looked at this blog http://wendymckee.blogspot.com/. I love Wendy's work so used one of her cards for inspiration, it never looks quite as good though (:.

I am reading

16180 another book about Henry 8th's wives. Having always ignored these books in the library I'm so glad I've now started reading them. I thought I knew all about the 6 wives, after all I watched the series starring Keith Michel back in the seventies and various films over the years. I find these books fascinating however as you can learn so much about the characters of the women.

We've managed to plant 60 bedding plants this afternoon, a great bargain at £10. Our garden is slowly taking shape, I have tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, courgettes and beans planted out now and I'm sure it won't be too long before we are eating some of our own vegetables.

digi card

I thought I would have a go at a tutorial for making a digi card template over on K Werner's blog.http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/?p=338

I will definitely be playing around with this and making more.

rainy day

SDC10652

It is quite miserable here today so I have forced myself to get out some stash and scrap. While I was away the latest Sarah's Cards kit arrived but I hadn't really given it a close look, so I got it out and at first glance thought it was far too fussy for me. The papers are Fancy pants - Roadshow and I decided to scrap some old photos of mum and dad as I thought the black and white photos went best with them. I do like the fact these kits get me scrapping with papers I wouldn't normally buy and I love all the little extra elements they put with it.

I used the pagemap sketch suggested by http://www.scrappaperscissors.blogspot.com/. There is a lot of inspiration to be found on this blog, I love looking at it.

http://www.creativebootcamp.blogspot.com/ this class started today and I have decided to do scrapbooking as my chosen medium. I'm not sure how closely I will follow this class but have managed to put a little bit of ivory on the page.

Keeping it simple

concentration-web

Having seen a layout by Bernie using this template, I thought I would have a go. You can see hers http://berniedigilife.blogspot.com/. It was very hard keeping it simple but I am glad I did.

credits: template - Timounette , kit- girly denim, Terelle Sanzone

It has been another lovely day here and so we met up with Peter and went down to Viking Bay. Jenny and co were already there having gone to the beach early for breakfast. It was so nice and quiet Ed went in for a swim. We then took the children to Morelli's for an icecream and I am very proud of myself as I sat and watched them eating yummy sundaes and didn't have anything. Yes, I am back on my diet as I hate being FAT!!!

Holiday

SCOTLAND

I have made a start on scrapping my holiday using a template from Hummie and a kit by jmccarthy.

it's been another lovely day here so after some housework I have been out in the garden reading. Feeling very lazy I've also just sat and watched a dvd, The road to Perdition with a very old Paul Newman. How I loved his films, The Sting, Butch Cassidy, Hud, Cat on a hot tin roof, he had such gorgeous eyes! The film also starred Jude Law and Ton Hanks, but for me Paul was still the best.

I am reading ..

511WPirVhPL__SS500_

Having just finished PD James the Private Patient, I thought I would have a change. The Private Patient was a good crime novel, I like the way she develops all the characters in the book, you want to know what happens to them. This next one looks a much lighter read and I shall look forward to taking it out in the garden now

SDC10650

we don't have this to look at!

Sun and beach

cricket

At last the sun has been shining and after a very stressful few days we decided to forget everything for a couple of hours and go to the beach. We even treated ourselves to an icecream! The shed still needs a roof, we have the dentist to go to and our boiler is broken but at least the sun is shining!

Tricky

tricky-web

Another Hummie class, this one was to use patterned paper so it didn't distract from the photo. I used a dinskip kit called grandparents for this and the patterns were quite subtle but I'm hoping this will do!

I had a nice meal out with a friend today while Ian was still working on the garden, then it poured with rain so he was able to come in and play on the computer!

tricky-2

I did change the paper in the end and actually like it more although I think the title doesn't show up as much.
