our little trooper
It's been quite a stressful few days here in what should have been a joyful occasion, meet our new little grandson.
He had quite a struggle being born resulting in him needing to go to intensive care where he was kept cold for 72 hours to help his brain. We were told he had stopped breathing for several minutes which was a great worry.
He needed to be warmed up for 12 hours and watched to make sure all was ok. Here he is taking his first look round at this strange world he'd come into. He then got an infection which didn't respond to the antibiotics and a Covid19 test was done. Another couple of days of anxious waiting.
All was clear and the infection started to come down so after nearly a week his parents were finally able to hold him.
Having been told he would be in hospital for several weeks he started to feed well, hearing and eyes were fine and an MRI scan came back with nothing to worry about. Our little miracle was allowed home after just a week in hospital.
With all the Covid19 worry being everyone's main priority it's amazing how our NHS is still coping with other emergencies so wonderfully. We are lucky to have them.

Sentence a day in January

Day 17 Need to get someone to mend a wall another casualty of the bad weather
Day 18 Our new neighbour knocked and said he could do our wall, he seems very nice
Day 19 Saw the scan of our little grandson to be born in May, his father wants to call him Joffrey after the Game of Thrones character, I think he's joking!

My mum
My beautiful mum left us on Monday. She left behind 3 daughters, 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was loved by all who came into contact with her as she was the kindest, most caring person I know.
At 96yrs old her body had just had enough and she slipped away peacefully with her daughters by her side. The world feels very empty without her.

life at the moment
Life has been a mixture of happiness and sadness over the last few months. We have a new little granddaughter who has brought great joy to the family for many reasons. I'm so pleased my son was able to take her to see her Great Nan, at 96yrs old by far the oldest member of the family meeting the youngest. We have lots of photos and videos of the two together which is lovely.
Mum's health has gone downhill since then and I don't think we will have her much longer. She's had a long life with a big family who all love her very much. I know I've been very fortunate to have her this long but it's very hard. Love you mum x

It's a start!
I've had a lovely few days away visiting my son and plenty of opportunity to start my summertime photography challenge.
10. Something Made of Stone - the stepping stones
1. An Outdoor Clock
12. Something Crooked
6. An Umbrella, open or closed
2. Single & Pretty - it's been a life long ambition of ours to see a kingfisher so although it's not a good shot as we were not allowed to open the hide window in case we disturbed the nesting birds, this shot has to be included.
This is a great challenge to take part in as it makes you more aware of your surroundings. Thank you Patio Postcards for sorting it all out. There's still lots of time to take part so do go over to the blog and have a look.
7. A Curving Path
3. Repetition
