Yohan's Gift

I was so touched when Yohan gave me this stuffed toy giraffe last Saturday.  He won it at Shakey's Fun Zone.

After lunch, Yohan asked me for some money to exchange for game tokens.  He usually plays his favorite car racing arcade game but he told me later that when he spotted "The Claw" in one corner of the room, he suddenly thought of me.  He gave up his favorite game and used his tokens to win me a stuffed toy.

I named her Mara. It's a long story but the name is not inspired by the soap opera Mara Clara. ha!ha! Anyway, I will always cherish this sweet gift from my son.

Happy Meal features Shrek the Final Chapter

I still remember back in 2007, Yohan collected Happy Meal Shrek 3 characters. Almost three years later, Happy Meal is featuring the cute characters again.  After a eating few Happy Meals, the gang is complete. You'll see familiar faces but you'll notice a definite change in some.

Gingy, Little Wooden Puppet, Puss In Boots, Brogan, Princess Fiona, Donkey and Shrek

"It ain't ogre 'til it's ogre!"

"After challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess and saving your in-laws' kingdom, what's on ogre to do? Well, if you're Shrek, you suddenly wind up a domesticated family man. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, a reluctant Shrek now agrees to autograph pitch forks. What's happened to this ogre's roar? Longing for the days when he felt like a 'real ogre' , Shrek is duped into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmakers, Rumpelstiltskin.Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Now, it's up to Shrek to undo all he's done in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world and reclaiming his one true love." - source

Tagged :: 7 Red Things At Home

I love red! I was tagged by Dexie to do this meme. This is long overdue. Sorry Dexie.

Here are 7 red things I have at home:
  1. Planner - It's where I keep contact info of family and friends (including birthdays).
  2. Shoulder bag - My mom gave this to me a few years ago as a birthday present.
  3. Shoes - I love this pair. It's very comfortable and ideal for walking.
  4. Babushka dolls - I saw this at the mall and made a hint to hubby that I like it. He didn't mind buying it for me.
  5. Christmas stockings - I hang our personalized Christmas stockings every Christmas and Santa fills them to the brim. :)
  6. Vanity kit - Perfect container for my face powder, lipstick, lip gloss, comb, small cologne and hand sanitizer.
  7. Baby spoon - This is very special to me because it was my son's spoon when he was a baby. It brings back happy memories.
This tag is open to everyone. Please let me know if you decide to join the hunt for red things at home. :)

Wordless Wednesday #65

I'm one day behind but I hope it's still OK if I still post my WW. :)

Yohan is celebrating his 6th Birthday this coming Saturday. He will have a post birthday celebration in school next week. I've been busy looking for small birthday giveaways for my son's classmates. I found cute little little ponies and zebras (stuffed toys) for the girls. You can see a sample on my other blog. Hope you can go there to check out my Wordless Wednesday #65. For the boys I bought mini cars. I still need to buy sweet treats to put inside the loot bags.

My son loves building stuff using his City Series blocks (similar to Lego). The small structures usually come with instructions. I was desperately helping my son with his windmill when hubby came home to the rescue. I was relieved when hubby was nice enough to fill my shoes for this task. :) Yohan was so pleased when it was finished. Yohan made the wheel barrow and truck all by himself.

My son is looking forward to watching Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Hubby and I promised to take him to the movie theater soon. Yohan was glad to dropped by McDonald's to take advantage of the current Happy Meal featuring characters from the said movie.

McDonald's Twister Fries

Yohan's first three choices are Manny, Diego and Momma Dino. He also recently acquired Sid and Ruby (not included in the photo). He needs three more to complete the set.

Ferrari Model Cars 2009

Last December 2007, hubby collected 6 Ferrari toy model cars in one of Shell's promotions. This year, Shell has come up with 7 new Ferrari cars with real engine sounds.

We started with three models. My hubby, son and I each had our turn to pick one ...

Our first Ferrari batch.

Hubby's pick: FXX

My pick: 599 GTB Fiorano

Yohan's pick: F430 Challenge

After a few weeks, we were able to complete all 7 cars. I took this photo last night...

Yohan's complete Ferrari toy model cars.

You still have until May 17, 2009 to collect all 7 new Ferrari models.

These are the cute characters from the movie Monsters vs Aliens. Yohan got them from McDonald's Happy Meal.

We watched the movie two weeks ago. It's a funny movie perfect for the whole family. The story is about a girl named Susan who comes into direct contact with a falling meteor. The meteor contains a substance that transforms Susan into a 47 foot giant woman on the day of her wedding. The government comes to take her away and she is placed in a secret holding facility with other monsters hidden by the government from the public eye. Susan is given a monster name, Ginormica. When Earth is threatened by an alien robot, the government puts the aliens in the front line to battle with the robots and the evil Gallaxhar.

Movie Cast:
  • Susan or Ginormica - Reese Witherspoon
  • Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D. - Hugh Laurie
  • Missing Link - Will Arnet
  • B.O.B. - Seth Rogen
  • Gallaxhar - Rainn Wilson

Easter Egg Hunt

Hope you had a wonderful Easter celebration. My SIL and I prepared an Easter egg hunt for the kids. I bought half a dozen of oversized plastic Easter eggs and stuffed them with small toys and sweet treats. My SIL prepared 4 trays (40 eggs in total) of small plastic Easter eggs with ready made treats inside. The eggs were hidden all around my MIL's lawn and the kids had fun searching for them. Yohan's youngest cousin, Sofie was the first one to find the first Easter egg. Below are some photos of the fun Easter egg hunt.

Over sized plastic Easter eggs.
You can see the size difference of the plastic and the real egg.

Sweet bunny lollipops.

Three cute caterpillars.

The Easter goodies.

I got one.

One more here.

Yohan's Kennel

(How To Make a Miniature Kennel)

My 5-year old son loves different kinds of toys. Among his favorite toys are his Transformers action figures, Thomas and Friends collection, Voltes V, Lego sets and more. Yohan is also fond of animals. In fact, he has a plastic box filled with different (small to medium) animal figures.

Last year, he got interested in collecting Puppy in My Pocket. At first, I was hesitant to buy him one because I thought they were only for girls because of its predominant pink packaging. I remember how sad Yohan's expression was when I told him. He asked me how come only girls can have puppy toys and not boys. I realized that he had a point. Coincidentally, Yohan found a huge box of Puppy in My Pocket at the mall with a picture of a boy and girl which he eagerly showed me. I didn't buy him one immediately. I waited for a nice moment to surprise him with a set of Puppy in My Pocket late last year. He also received a couple of other sets from relatives last Christmas.

The puppies come in cute plastic pink and blue little houses that can be combined together. For some reason, Yohan doesn't like the houses. He just likes the puppies. He keeps them in a tin can. The other day, my hubby decided to make a simple dog house for all of Yohan's puppies using poster board, scissors and glue. Here's how how he made it ...

Cutting and gluing the poster board pieces.

Making the final touches to the dog house.

Putting the puppies in their 'rooms'.

Final outcome after constant arranging and re-arranging of puppies.

Do you see the puppy in a tutu? It was given to him by his Tita Monet, along with other puppies. At first, he didn't want it because he said it looked "funny". He let me keep it aside for a while. Then one day, he just told me that he realized that the puppy in the tutu is a "performer" just like the other puppies with props. After that light bulb moment, he let the puppy in the tutu (whose name is Roxie) join his group of puppies again. I'm glad the isolated terrier was given another chance to join the gang. :)
