It has been months since I've been inspired to write a blog post here on My Little Slice of Bliss. Rest assured, all is well here in my little corner of the world--I've just been so busy with work and family that papercrafting and blogging have taken a definite back seat. Autumn has been a whirlwind, and here we are on the last day of October already. Happy Halloween!
My kids are in 6th grade and 10th grade this year. My sixth grader is excited to go trick-or-treating tonight. After masquerading as an Apple iPhone for the past two years, we decided it was time for a new costume for him. I picked up an awesome hand-crocheted beard from Etsy, and we put together a great lumberjack costume for him from items we already had around the house: hiking boots, jeans, one of Dad's old plaid flannel shirts, an ear flap cap, and a non-lethal axe we constructed from cardboard, a paper tube, and aluminum foil. At least he'll be cozy and warm tonight! Sorry, no photos yet!!
Last year my daughter decided that as a high school freshman, she was too old for trick-or-treating. She's opting to stay in again this year to hand out treats to the visiting neighborhood goblins. Because that means she'll miss out on all that yummy loot (and little brother might not be in the mood to share), I put together a little Halloween treat for her, which I'll share once her lil' bro heads out to haunt tonight. The gift bag is a pattern from DeNami Design, and it's the perfect size for two Reese's Pumpkins. Love those!
And speaking of my daughter, she got crafty yesterday and used my DeNami stamps (and my patterned paper and dies . . .) to decorate packets of hot cocoa mix to hand out to our trick-or-treaters tonight. Aren't these adorable? I think she did an awesome job :D.
Well, I hope that you and yours have a fun Halloween. Thanks for dropping by!
Happy Haunting!
Emily

EMILY!! Oh how wonderful to see you back; I've missed your cheery posts and awesome cards! What amazing treats you've shared with us today. Your daughter will delight in your lovingly crafted special treat tote for her, and her craftiness with the hot chocolate bags (brilliant treats, by the way!), are wonderful! Like mother, like daughter! Happy dancing with joy at your return!
Hugs~c
Hey there girly!!! Your son's costume sounds terrific, can't wait for the photo. What a sweet thoughtful mom you are to make this ADORABLE treat bag for your oh so grown up daughter! Bet you get a hug out of this one ;) Tell her I think her little cocoa treats are CUTE!
Hi Emily, your smiling face has sure been missed around here.
Adorable packs of cocoa mix your daughter decorated and a cup of hot cocoa should be good after a night of trick or treating. The bag you did is just cute as it can be.
Your children are really growing up fast, Emily. You'll have one off to college before you know it.
Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween!!! I'm so bad at keeping tabs at my google reader, that now that you say you've been MIA I just stopped and realized that so have I in terms of visiting your blog (I'm still crafting up a storm, it somehow grounds the rest of my mayhem).
Welcome back :) I love the monster bag (so cute!) and your daughter did an incredible job with those cocoa packets! Easy to see where she gets her crafty from!
I totally get it! My blog pots are DT and rarely anything in between. Life has a way if taking over, but blogging will always be there!
Since I am doing this in reverse, I got to see the awesome costume! A crochet beard cracks me up and I would have never thought of that!
Your daughters treats are adorable!!!! Very special! Your treat for her is fabulous and dressed to perfection and I know she adored it!
Great to see you back in blogland! Your daughter decorated the hot chocolate packets so well...very CUTE! Fab monster bag, too!:-)
I'm so happy to see you again. Your daughter is definitely a chip off mom! These are the cutest and I know the neighbor kids will be talking about them as their favorite treat. Your treat for her is cute as well. It's too cute to open!
Glad to see your back posting again! I have been checking in and hoping but missed this one since I had company and then was away for a week.
Love your daughter's trims on the hot chocolate treats. (If I was closer I would have made a beeline for your home) LOVE hot chocolate! Not really sure I could have given it away. lol
Your little treat box for her was adorable too. I am sure she appreciate it...even if she is almost a grown-up now. :)
Happy to be reading your posts again and find up what you have been up to. Cheers! :)
