Cutting Down their own Olive Trees: Palestinians and Leftists Caught in the Act

First the JPost reports today:
A PLO official called on Sunday for international observers to protect Palestinian olive farmers and their groves, after more than 450 trees were vandalized last week as the harvest began.

“We urge every country with a diplomatic mission to Palestine to dispatch observer teams to Palestinian olive groves in order to discourage attacks by settlers and to document any abuse that occurs,” PLO Executive Committee member Hanan Ashrawi said.

“Given Israel’s support for the settlers and its refusal to allow the Palestinian Authority to provide protection through the occupied territory, the Palestinian people require international intervention to ensure their security,” Ashrawi wrote.
Everything the PLO says needs to be taken with a few grains of salt...especially, when this video was provided today by the Shomron Settlement Council, taken today - of Palestinians and a Leftwing activist actively cutting down a Palestinian Olive Grove (what better way to demand international observers).

Too bad for them we caught it all on video.  Not that Ashrawi cares, as long as she can blame the evil Zionist Joos.
See for yourselves:

Palestinians Reject Public Debate - They Can Only Debate Unilaterally

Press Release (Communicated by the Bureau of Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister Ayalon)

Dep FM Ayalon Surprised at PA Negotiator Erekat's Rejection of a Public Debate: "The Palestinians are only able to debate unilaterally"

Today (Sunday 31st July), Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon responded to Palestinian Authority Negotiator Saeb Erekat's rejection of a public debate. Earlier, Ayalon had proposed a public debate on issues relating to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict after Erekat sent out an official press release calling the Deputy Foreign Minister's recent YouTube video titled The Truth About the West Bank, "a falsified account of history and international law".

"I am more than a little surprised that Erekat rejected my offer of an open and public debate, especially considering he was concerned enough about our video to release a two page official press release" Ayalon said. "Erekat is used to telling the world that Israel's policies are illegal and against international law and I offered him the chance to back up his own statements and he is proving unable or unwilling to do so."

"Like its diplomatic policies, it appears that the Palestinian Authority is only able to debate unilaterally."

The video released under two weeks ago, has already garnered a quarter of a million views worldwide and is encouraging a debate on the rarely heard Israeli position on the West Bank, settlements and international law.

"Erekat was very quick to react to the video when it was released but now his evasion speaks volumes of a Palestinian Authority political leadership which has hijacked the public debate for too long," Ayalon added. "It demonstrates that their rhetoric is just empty words and slogans and folds like a house of cards once it is tested."

The video which sparked Palestinian outrage...

Palestinian "Day of Rage" Coming Soon

In typical Palestinian style, the PA has called for a violent "Day of Rage" to express their disappointment with the USA's veto in the UN last week, where the world tried to censure Israel for allowing Jews to build in their homeland.

Palestinian leaders called for a "day of rage" Saturday in the streets of West Bank cities after the US vetoed a UN condemnation of Israeli settlements Friday.

Yasser Abed Rabbo, secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), said the Palestinians would take their resolution to the UN General Assembly.

"Our decision today is to go to the General Assembly of the United Nations to adopt a resolution condemning settlements and asserting their illegality before returning to the Security Council to present a proposed condemnation of settlements," he told AFP.

"The American veto will not prevent us from appealing to international institutions and will not stop our desire for freedom and independence," he said. (YNET)
Commenter Dave wrote it well:

The Palestinians have killed, maimed and brutalized thousands of Israelis including children and they have the gall to want a "Day of Rage"?

The Libyans, Algerians, Bahrainis and who knows how many more have killed and wounded hundreds if not thousands and all the UN can think about is bashing Israel!

What the hell is Israel doing in the UN? It should be called the AIBO - Arab Israel Bashing Organization!
This is typical Palestinian behaviour -- any time they are upset, they rage.
You can be sure that this is exactly how they will act if they ever, G-d forbid, get their own State.

Diplomacy?

Dialogue?

Rage.

How Israel's Dep. Foreign Minister helped Lebanese Palestinians

This story is simply amazing.

For over 60 years, Palestinians living in Lebanon had no rights and existed in sub-human conditions. The world of course, blamed Israel.

Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister, Danny Ayalon wrote about this a few weeks ago in the Wall Street Journal.

Surprisingly, just a couple of weeks after Ayalon's op-ed, the Lebanese government changed their status!
The Lebanese parliament voted on Tuesday to grant the country’s 400,000 Palestinian refugees the right to work in the same professions as other foreigners, lifting a decades-old ban that had relegated the refugees to the most menial jobs.

The bill was intended to transform Lebanese policies toward the refugees, although Palestinian leaders in Lebanon and human rights workers say it was only a first step that leaves significant stumbling blocks in place.

The Palestinians living in Lebanon are isolated from the rest of the country in refugee camps to a higher degree than anywhere else in the Arab world.

“I was born in Lebanon and I have never known Palestine,” said Ahmed al- Mehdawi, 45, a taxi driver who lives in the Ein el- Hilweh refugee camp, which is notorious for its lawlessness.

“What we want is to live like Lebanese. We are human beings and we need civil rights.” (JPost)
Why is it that real human rights abuses in the Middle East go on for decades, while the left and anti-Zionists bash Israel?

Why does it take a member of the Israeli government to expose this, while all the "Human Rights" fundamentalists ignore it?

The obvious answer: none of the organizations and countries who routinely bash Israel care about Human Rights...they just care about bashing Israel.

"Psychic" Octopus Picks Israel

Paul the "psychic" Octopus successfully predicted the outcome of the FIFA World Cup Championship last night, (Spain over Holland), as well as the winner of six World Cup matches so far.

The octopus, also known as the "Oracle of Oberhausen," has now crushed Palestinian hopes for an independent State, when he chose Israel last night as the sovereign country that will rule the Land of Israel and all of Jerusalem.

Angry Palestinians are reportedly announcing a world Jihad against squids everywhere.

Following Suit: Jordan to conduct public burnings

While I certainly hope I'm not enabling Jordanians by posting this...

The Chinese Global Times reports:

Jordan's forum of professional associations and opposition on Saturday condemned Israeli calls for considering Jordan as the alternative homeland for the Palestinians and stressed the returning right of the Palestinian refugees.

In a statement issued Saturday, the forum, which includes the country's 14 trade unions and opposition parties, said "the Zionist entity (Israel) poses a real threat to the Palestinians, Jordan and the Arab nations."

"The sole option to face the Zionist entity is to resort to resistance," the statement indicated.

It also called for reconsidering mechanisms of peace negotiations with Israel as these mechanisms followed by the Arab regimes have not yielded any results so far.

- The forum, which condemned Israel's latest military order that entails the expulsion of thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank, called for severing the Wadi Araba Peace Treaty signed in 1994 between Jordan and Israel.

- Since the signing of the Wadi Araba Peace Treaty, Jordan's 14 professional associations and opposition parties spearheaded efforts calling for annulling the peace deal with Israel.

- The forum also called for cutting all types of normalization with Israel.

- They have started several campaigns calling for boycotting Israeli products and noncooperation with Israel at any level.

And following up, PNN reports:

Joining the campaign, “for Jordan free of Zionist Products”, 14 Trade Unions; the President of the Trade unions Council, Ahmad Al Armoti, told reporters that the campaign is to mark the 62 anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba and because of the continued Israeli threats to Jordan.

The Campaign organizers will issue leaflets of Israeli trademarks and will run media campaigns to educate the consumers about the Israeli products. A wed [sic] site also will be launched to raise awareness, campaigners reported.

Next Saturday the Trade Unions will organize an action the Jordanian capital Amman to torch Israeli Products [in commemoration of the Naqba].

Till I get those photos, here's one:

Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, throws a package into a fire set to burn products from Jewish settlements, in the West Bank town of Salfit, Jan 5, 2010. Palestinians have launched a boycott of Israeli products made in Jewish settlements in the West Bank. (Nasser Ishtayeh/AP//File)

Photo of the Day: Palestinians in Jerusalem

In case you had any doubts what the Palestinians think of themselves.

The following was photographed at the North Jerusalem Kalandia neighborhood IDF checkpoint area yesterday (Friday, March 19, 2010)

In this photo, Mohammad Amin al-Husayni the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem meets with Hitler in 1941. Al-Husayni, a supporter of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis, asked Hitler to back Arab independence and requested that Nazi Germany oppose, as part of the Pan-Arab struggle, the establishment of a Jewish national home. The meeting took place under the auspices and security of Israel's Jerusalem police force, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed.

After the meeting, the 2 sides concluded: If the rabbis and sheiks were running the country, there would have been peace along time ago.

12:56 PM Israeli MK Zoo'abi from the Arab party "Balad" calls for a Third Intifada.

"Massive Israeli housing projects in Eastern Jerusalem and in the Arab neighborhoods, expulsion of Palestinians from their homes, confiscation of Israeli ID cards, quashing demonstrations, arresting citizens, tormenting Human-rights workers. Israel's policy is nothing less than ethnic cleansing, and it is a strong reason to start a third Intifada -- it should be an even greater than the last one, when Sharon went to Al-Aksa.

11:47 AM Rock throwing on Modi'in-Jerusalem Highway 443. Windows were smashed and cars were damaged, yet there were no reported injuries.

11:45 AM Photo from my daughter on a day trip to Jerusalem -- car smashed by rocks thrown by a raging Arab mob. Driver hospitalized.

11:30 AM Increased Arab rage throughout Israel. MK Ahmed Tibi ascends the Temple Mount and declares: There is now a new occupation of East Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Sounds of Gunfire are heard in all directions. (YNET)

Arab rock throwers near the Temple Mount are dispersed by Israeli Security forces.

My daughter reports that a man was hurt when Arabs smashed his car with rocks in the Wadi Joz neighborhood, and he required hospitalization. (She's trying to send me a picture now)

Reports of increased rock throwing rage in the Ramalla and Schechem areas, and Hevron is on alert for a potential terror attack.

Magen David Adom raising threat levels in Jerusalem and surrounding areas.

10:20 AM In light of Israel's rebuilding of the Hurva Shul in the Old City of Jerusalem, Hamas has declared a "day or rage".

- Khatem Abd el-Kader, holder of the Fatah's Jerusalem portfolio, called on Palestinians to “converge on Al-Aksa to save it” from “Israeli attempts to destroy the mosque and replace it with the temple.” (JPost)

- Khader called the renovation of the Hurva a “provocation” and warned Israel that it was “playing with fire.” (JPost)

- Mayor of the Beduin city Rahat, Faiz Abu-Sabihan , expressed his support in the struggle, saying that Jews have no right over the Temple Mount, and that Israel's "provocative actions, which undermine the peace, must be stopped." (JPost)

Starting their rage, masked Palestinians clashed with Israeli police in multiple Jerusalem neighborhoods today, hurling rocks and burning tires.

My daughter on a class trip to Jerusalem today, reported to me via SMS minutes ago at 10:21 AM; "In Wadi Joz, they threw a ton of rocks at us, but we're all ok."

I just called her up and she said, "The Arabs threw dozens of rocks at our bus, they kept throwing and throwing. We're all ok." [Note: She's on a bullet proof bus, since she left on a class trip with her school in a settlement community]**

Dozens of Arab youths hurled stones at Border Police officers in the Shuafat refugee camp,Isawiyah and Wadi Joz.

PLO chairman Yasser Abed Rabo called on Israel yesterday to refrain from dedicating the Hurva shul, but Israel did it anyway.

Let's compare Israel's dedication of the Hurva shul, which the PLO called on Israel to prevent, with Israel's call to the PA, not to dedicate a city Square in Ramalla in memory of a terrorist who carried out the deadliest terrorist attack in Israel’s history.

The PA of course, dedicated it, led by PA President Mahmoud Abbas.

And yet - Our best friends in the world, demand we stop building, while they refuse to criticize any action of the Palestinians.

The following video from the Muqata's favorite satire site, Latma, has an exclusive interview the Palestinian Minister of Uncontrollable Rage.

We'll be updating you throughout the day on the latest rages.

**Update; My daughter's Ulpana school sent the entire school on 19 buses bullet proof, for a day trip in honor of Jerusalem, on Rosh Chodesh Nissan. The school was divided into 4 groups -- and each will be marching to the Old City of Jerusalem, each from a different direction. My daughter said that her bus had to turn around because of all the rock throwing rage, and is going via a different direction instead.

Na'alin Palestinians Celebrate Adar!

Commemorating the festivity of the Jewish holiday of Purim and the merry month of Adar when the wicked Haman conspired to kill all the Jews thousands of years ago, the Palestinians of Na'alin decided to dress up in Avatar blue Nav'i costumes in solidarity with the Jewish people.

The Palestinians were slightly out of character, as the Nav'i are portrayed in the Avatar film as a peaceful people, at harmony with nature...as opposed to this costumed joker.

(source, AP)

Wishing all those blue creatures in Na'alin a very Happy Adar!

Avatar, Jews and Palestinians?

What does the blockbuster movie Avatar have to do with Israel and the Palestinians?

This past Monday evening, the movie Avatar was screened in Israel at the Ramat Gan Ayalon Shopping Center cinema. To everyone's shock, after the film was over and the credits were rolling up the screen, Israeli actor Juliano Mer-Khamis jumped up and started screaming:

"The Palestinians should learn from this film what to do to Jews! This film reflects exactly the situation of the Palestinians and the Jews"
The Israeli-Arab actor told the Yediot Achronot newspaper that he didn't deny his outburst, and continued to compare the blue creatures fighting a stronger army to that of Israelis and Palestinians. "No one would dare make the real analogy," he said, "Avatar is one of those brave films that were made to portray the occupation." (sourced from Globes in Hebrew)
Yup, Avatar is precisely, a perfect comparison between the Jews and Palestinians...the exact analogy.

I guess you need 3d glasses to get the full effect...and some of the same stuff that Juliano Mer's been smoking.

He probably helped fund the study we reported today, in which it is "scientifically" determined that Israel is to blame for Palestinian men beating their wives.

Update: (Added from the comment thread)

Where does the "unobtanium" fit into this perfect analogy?

Actually, I viewed the Na'vi as the Jews...and I have proof as well -- there's a direct mention of Ninet Tayeb, one of Israel's finest singers. See the video: here (Kol Isha Alert for those who don't listen to women singing on video)

Are Rock attacks really dangerous?

There's been a marked escalation of Palestinian rock throwing lately on the roads.

The Jerusalem Post caught some attacks on video in Hevron -- as Palestinian kids throw rocks at their neighboring Jewish homes.

And then, there are rock attacks on Jewish motorists. Last week, on one of the primary roads in the Shomron, there was a rock attack directed at an Israeli motorist. While the vehicle was traveling about 90 kilometers an hour (about 55 mph), a Palestinian threw a rock at the car, which smashed through the windshield, hitting the driver in the face.

"Luckily" for the driver, the rock grazed the side of his face, cutting it open deeply, resulting in a moderate facial and head trauma. The emergency medics arrived quickly on the scene, and helped bandage up the driver and load him onto the arriving ambulance.

The driver is lucky. An inch to the left and the rock would have hit him squarely in the face, which most likely would have killed him.

After he was transported to the hospital's trauma room, I took a photo of his car.

Rocks can kill.

Equality under the law, Bagatz style

by Lurker

2006:
  • Regavim appeal to Bagatz: Tell the government to enforce its own demolition orders against illegal Arab buildings in Mizrat el-Kabilya.

  • Government response: We have the right to decide our own priorities for when to do things.

  • Bagatz decision: Sounds good to us.
2009:
  • Peace Now appeal to Bagatz: Tell the government to enforce its own demolition orders against illegal Jewish buildings in Haresha and Hayovel.

  • Government response: We have the right to decide our own priorities for when to do things.

  • Bagatz decision: No, the law is the law: You must get started on destroying the Jewish buildings right now.
2009/2010:
  • Regavim appeal to Bagatz: So then tell the government to also get started on destroying the illegal Arab buildings in Mizrat el-Kabilya now.

  • Government response: Our top priority is to forcibly prevent Jews from building; we don't care very much about illegal Arab building.

  • Bagatz decision: Sounds good to us.

Rock Attacks on 443 / Modiin-Jerusalem Highway

This morning at 9:28 AM, Palestinians attacked Jewish motorists on the Modi'in-Jerusalem Highway, also known as road 443.

I know, since I was there...and saw the cars getting hit, including the one in front of me.

In the 9:28 attack, no one was injured...but a few minutes later, someone was hurt by another rock attack and required hospitalization.

And how does Israel's media report this incident?

YNET: Car hit with rocks near Rammalla, driver lightly wounded.

An Israeli citizen was lightly wounded by rocks thrown at his car near Beit Sira, west of Rammalla. He received medical treatment and damage was caused to his car.
(link in Hebrew)
Its newsworthy -- even crucial that people know where this attack took place, but your average Israeli has no clue where "Beit Sira" is, and seeing "Rammalla" in the headline leads one to think that "Oh, if someone was near Rammalla, it must have been a settler, or someone driving out in the boondocks."

YNET intentionally left our the crucial information that this attack took place on Highway 443, the main Modi'in-Jerusalem highway.

Why? Any number of reasons, ranging from not wanting people to know that Palestinians are targeting cars of "normal" people on "normal" highways -- to tacit support of the Supreme Court's decision to open Highway 443 to regular Palestinian traffic.

Regardless of the reason, its odious that YNET deliberately concealed this information.

Decoupling Iran and the Palestinians

In a fascinating article in the WSJ, entitled "Iran's Democratic Moment", we see a clear trend of protesters starting to demand an "Iranian Republic" not an "Islamic Republic."

The most interesting part of the article wasn't so much that the movement wants an Iranian Republic, but that they are clearly decoupling anti-Israel rhetoric and support for Palestinians from Iranian independence.
On Jerusalem Day, Sept. 18, officially intended to express anti-Semitism, the opposition showed that Iranians have no hostility toward Jews or Israel. One popular slogan was "Neither Hamas nor Hezbollah! I give my life for Iran!" Another was "Forget about Palestine! Think about our Iran!"

Most significantly, the movement that started as a protest against the alleged rigging of the election that gave a second term to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been evolving. The crowds' initial slogan was "Where Is My Vote?" and the movement's accidental leaders, including former Prime Minister Mir Hossein Mousavi, tried hard to keep the protest confined to demands such as a recount of the votes and, ultimately, a runoff in accordance with the law.

The slogans of the protestors are no longer about election fraud. Today they include "Death to the Dictator," "Freedom Now," and "Iranian Republic, Not Islamic Republic!" One slogan is a direct message to President Barack Obama: "Obama, Are You With Us or With Them?"

It is crucial for the USA to reject Iranian opposition leaders to the current regimes as possible options. The Iranian protesters for democracy do not view them as viable alternatives.
In short, the protestors no longer regard the present regime as the legitimate government of the country.

Both Mr. Mousavi and Ayatollah Mahdi Karroubi, another defeated presidential candidate, tried to prevent attacks on the "Supreme Guide" Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the hope of eventually making a deal with him. As part of such a deal, they promised to defend the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, according to sources close to the opposition. The crowds have rejected that by shouting: "Abandon uranium enrichment! Do something about the poor!"

They clearly reject Iran's nuclear program, which is good for Israel.

President Obama should be supporting the protest movement, though the US has a poor record on such support, if one uses Tiananmen Square protests as a litmus test of what to expect.

Even more important -- President Obama should realize that linkage of the Palestinian issue with Iran's nuclear program doesn't serve anyone's interest, except that of Ahmadinejad.

Opinion Polls: Israelies and Palestinians

Tzippi Livni the J-Streetwalker and PA Advocate

Today's Bombshell:

Former US ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk stated that when Tzipi Livni was foreign minister she warned the Palestinian Authority not to accept a "peace" deal offered by then-prime minister Ehud Olmert.

"In a discussion at President Shimon Peres's 'Facing Tomorrow' Presidential Conference 2009 in Jerusalem, Indyk said that the Palestinians should not be blamed for rejecting Olmert's peace offer, because of his unstable political situation at the time, Army Radio reported.

When asked by Channel 2 reporter Udi Segal, who was hosting the panel, whether the Palestinians missed an opportunity when they rejected Olmert's proposal, Indyk reportedly replied that "the prime minister was about to have an indictment filed against him and the foreign minister herself specifically told both the Americans and the Palestinians: Don't you dare sign the agreement."(JPOST)

Top Five Ten Reasons Livni warned the Palestinians:

5. She didn't want them to get involved with another possible scandal indictment with Ehud Olmert the crook.

4. Was worried that signing might still allow Magen David Adom ambulances to provide emergency services to Palestinians in East Jerusalem.

3. Thought Ariel Sharon was about to wake up from his coma (others seem to think so)

2. Was afraid that Abbas would be a guest of honor at a JStreet conference before her. [Thanks YMedad!]

1. She wanted to win the election and give even MORE to the Palestinians than Ehud Olmert.

Immoral Car Trashing?

B'Tzelem, the pro-Palestinian organization has reported the following as a Human Rights abuse:
Palestinians from the south Mount Hebron area in the West Bank claim that in the past few days IDF soldiers have destroyed several vehicles belonging to people who have used them in attempts to smuggle Palestinians into Israel.

The B'Tselem human rights group on Tuesday quoted one Palestinian as saying that seven or eight vehicles have been destroyed by the IDF in recent days.

"Yesterday they burned down a Ford Transit that was worth NIS 15,000 ($4,000)," the Palestinian said, "And the day before that they set fire to a Subaru. Sometimes they push the vehicles into the valley, or ram into them with their jeeps."

The IDF Spokesperson's Office said in response, "The alleged incidents go against the army's values and guidelines. (YNET)
Am I missing something? How exactly does this go against IDF values and guidelines -- what's wrong here?

In other countries, its routine that cars used by criminals, such as drug dealers, are impounded and then sold or destroyed.

IDF Commandos Rescue US Hostage from Palestinians

While the world gloats over the rabid Goldstone report which accused Israel of "war crimes" for defending itself against Hamas terrorism, 10 former IDF Commandos rescued US hostages -- that were held by Palestinians for over 3 years.

Of course, this sort of kidnapping doesn't warrant a fact finding mission -- unless someone wants to smear the 10 IDF commandos for blatantly violated the human rights of the innocent Palestinian husband who held his wife captive.

Ten former IDF combat soldiers rescued a US citizen and her two-and-a-half-year-old son from a Palestinian village in the Tulkarm area where they had been held captive for 3 years, Israel Radio revealed on Wednesday morning.

The woman, who had married a young Palestinian man she met in the United States, was being held captive in his house, together with their son. The man's first wife and four children from the first marriage also live in the house.

The woman's husband allegedly hit her, prevented her from leaving the house and threatened that if she left, she would never see their son again. He also threatened that if she left the home, she would be apprehended by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).

After efforts to bring about the woman's release by contacting Palestinian Authority officials failed, the woman's parents contacted a Jewish American man who had served in a combat unit in the IDF. He contacted friends in Israel who planned the rescue operation for several weeks, gathering intelligence on the family's routine, and carrying it out successfully on Monday, according to Israel Radio.

The woman and her son were transferred to the US consulate in Jerusalem and left the country on an airliner to Ohio on Tuesday.

Giora, one of the men who took part in rescuing the woman and her son, told Israel Radio that while the IDF was not aware of the operation, the US consulate was updated about every step of the mission.

"The rescue mission was planned in a similar way to operations carried out during my time in the military in a way that ensured no lives were endangered," Giora told the station.

The family promised a financial reward to the men for freeing their daughter, Giora said, insisting, however, that "we didn't do it for the money." (JPOST)
