DT-post for Anyone for Anya

Hi everyone!

We have a new photo challenge at Anyone for Anya and this week it's strawberries for inspiration. I'm getting a craving just thinking about it.

The background paper is from my favorite collection by Prima marketing Sunkiss. The frame and the distress is all in the paper already. The chipboad corner and the wooden ticket is also from Prima. The paper flowers and leaves are from I am roses. In the midst is a stick pin from Christy P from a swap at Creating a crafty life. There are also some goodies by MB's Treasurista from my time as a GDT-member.

Altered bird cage for MB's Treasurista

Hello peeps!

I want to show a bird cage that I altered.

Before

It started with a holder for a small candle, but I tucked the bird inside the cage instead.
It was also white to start with, but some acrylic paint and voila :)
It's a sand acrylic paint and I mixed a turquoise pearl paint with the same sand acrylic and got a gorgeous green.
That really made a differens and the rest is easy!

After

I made some candy gem acrylic sprays cling to the bird cage in yellow and green.
Then I hot glued some ruffled satin trim in celadon, which match the colour of my acrylic paint perfectly. I also had some flat back pearl in mint from Misty with went perfect with the colour palette.

I wanted to make a nest inside the cage and twined some more of the candy gem sprays in yellow and green to act as twigs. As egg I used the water blut flat back 10mm, they also fitted perfectly in the middle of the flowers on the bird cage, but I ran out of them :(
The small sweetheart blossom was the perfect size and super sweet as I tucked it on the "inside".

I added some acrylic chandilier charms to the chain and that's pretty much it :D

Father's day blog hop at MB's Treasurista

Hurray you're here!!

If you're hopping to me from Kelly you are right on the way:)
And if you've hopped from the beginning at Misty - congratulations!! You've made it to the final pit stop =D

I'm showing you a super easy tag with masculine influences. I started by stamping a large damask from Teresa Collins vintage find and stamped some music notes across the entire tag from the same set as the damask. Then I fussy cut the flowers and glued to the tag. Can you believe I the designer paper is Teresa Collins she said collection?
And it turned out the blue was a perfect match for G45 little darling sticker sheet which is were the letters are from.
To keep it masculine I didn't want any paper flowers or frilly lace so I made a simple bouquet of blue candy gem sprays and wheat leaf sprays in three-toned sage green. Threw in some stamens to add colour. The buttons are from my stash and the rest of the embellishment is from Tim Holtz. The ticket is a MFT die-namics & stamp set. The banners are stapled with a normal home office stapler.

There is alot of hidden blog candy to be won and the grand prize is also hidden on one of the designers blog so please make sure to leave comments and to follow all the blogs. Here is whats up for grabs for the grand prize:

Alice Bean Card for MB's Treasurista

Hi y'all!

I'm here today with a card that you can make with some beautiful products from MB's Treasurista:)

I'm letting the lyric collection setting the colour palette as it's absolutely gorgeous.
I wanted to really show off the paper so I haven't layered a lot of flowers.
On the top with all the banners - all that is just the paper. I've only highlighted the banners with the words with glossy accent. All the strings with the heart is also the paper and all I've done is added a flat back cabochon of the lovebirds.

I also wanted to keep the paper at the bottom as uncovered as possible and that little cluster to the left is all about the paper.

I coloured my Alice Beanie from TGF with my copics of course - I can't live without them :)
And put her in one of the frames from the paper, a cut apart element, on her bow I glued a flat back pearl.

The edge between the papers are hidden behind the drip venice lace and I've layered a row of mesh bling in the brown colour. To balance the egde of those products I added a flat back pearl string in light pink.

The flowers are sprayed with LSG salter water taffy from the Nantucket pearl set. The buttons are just from my stash, but I've tied some twine from the store. I've also added an acrylic butterfly with rhinestone amongst the sprays.

Products from the store used:
Prima paper pad 6x6, Lyric
TGF Alice Bean
Ivory drip venise lace
Mesh bling brown
Flat back pearl trim, light pink
azar berry spray, pink
candy gem acrylic spray
acrylic butterfly with rhinestone

Teach me Tuesday at MB's Treasurista

Hi everyone!

For today's post for The Rubber Buggy, please scroll down.

Today I trying to show you how to make a box.
I tend to do this fun little box when I'm gifting a mini album. I got the idea when I made a baby mini by 6x6 envelopes.

This one has a magnetic closure on the side and is a bit smaller so you will be able to only use two 12x12 cardstock, (For a 6x6 mini, you need 3 sheets)

Anyhow, the video is quite fast, as I fast forward in order to fit the 10min limit on youtube.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I start by marking the 12x12 paper at 4,5 & 7,5 on all four sides.
Then I score a line between the 7,5 mark and the 4,5 mark on the other side on all four sides - now you have the base of your box. If you wish for a smaller base leave a smaller gap between your marks i e 5 & 7. For a larger base leave a wider gap i e 4 & 8...

The next step is to score the lines for your sides or the height of your box. Here I scored 1,75 outside the base, I prefer to fold it double and glue a piece to the bottom - you'll see later. Therefore, I score it once more 1,75 outside the line I just scored.

You now have a 12x12 with a lot of diagonal score lines, time to cut some.
How you cut is really prefable to you. But you need to have in mind that you are creating something to hold a corner. So the last scoreline of yours create a corner to the paper (Hold on to that line), now use the longest of the scorelines as your cuttingline and cut all the way to the base. Also cut the second line all the way to the same line as the base line. This part can be removed altogheter.

Now you are ready to start assembly your box - just fold all the lines towards the base and you'll see the box take shape. Glue everything together. The box is done!

For the covers, I do mine double folded, but you can use the same principle and make a gate fold, just a normal cover or what ever you creation might be in mood for.
If you made a box with a base smaller than 6x6, you can make the covers from only one 12x12, just cut it in half. If your box is larger, you probably need 2 sheets of cardstock if you want the covers to go outside your box as shown on the picture.

For the covers score on of the pieces as wide as your box, this will be the inner cover. Also score it one more as wide as the box is high. For me that means I'm scoring at 6 (a bit larger than my box, but I'll cut that away later) and the other at 7,75. That leaves about 4 left to go on the back of the box. It's optional to just cover half of the back and meet the other part in the middle. You will cover that later. To the other piece of cardstock. Depending on the size of your box you can be able to do a closure that overlap one of the sides. Just start backwards - I need 2 to the back, another 1,75 for the side and almost 6 for the front, which leaves me just about 2 for the closure. Now you have all the parts, just glue together and start to embellish!

I usually start by covering both the covers and the box with paper, both to add sturdiness and hide lines. Then you have endless possibilities to add flowers, sprays and ribbon/lace.

I hope you try it out - it was kind of hard to explain it like this, if you have any questions - don't be shy :D

I hope you enjoy it and once you've mastered the techniques you'll see how versatile this can be. You might even be able to add a window to one of the covers... or both! (You just die cut the covers before you glue them to the box!)

MB's Treasurista Gettin Organized Challenge

Hi!
My name is Pi and I'm a scrapmess - LOL!

Anyone out there who's the same?

Well I'm sure we all have our sore spots, whether it's lace or dies, stamps or paper, paper flowers or buttons, washi or stickers - we want to know:)

MB's Treasurista is hosting a Gettin Organized Challenge!!
That's right, you can win a great prize just for cleaning! If that's not an excuse to really dig in to that mess and start organizing I don't know what is - LOL!

Rules:
  • You can organize anything you want. Must include a before and after pic and brief description of what you did.
  • Submit Project as a "linky" to the MB's Treasurista Blog Gettin Organized Challenge post or any designers post or you may do a video response to the video in this post via Youtube.
  • Unlimited Entry submission per contestant
  • Follow the MBT blog and/or youtube channel
  • 1 Winner will be selected
  • Projects must be uploaded by June 22nd 11:59pm
The prize is a Clip It Up Base Unit - how awesome isn't that?!

I organized my wafer thin dies, as I don't have a binding machine I'm not able to make one of those gorgeous books you see everyone else do and I've been eyeing a cinch for a while now getting closer and closer to cash in, but I really don't have room for one...

Thus, behold.
Simple stories snap album (or mix and match album) turned out to be a savier!
But let me start from the beginning...

Before:

My dies where stored in a file folder, great system with tabs and sorted by category.
Downside: to sort through you still need to get all the dies out. The folder is only expandable in the top, which makes it hard to close...

Now:
My dies are neatly placed on magnetic tape in a ring binder of suitable size and very managable. Should I get more dies I can always add a new binder to the system.

Now please help me get ideas how to store my image stamps in a neat and portable system :)
... or how to store lace and ribbon without everything getting tangled...
... anything that is portable and space saving!!!

For more inspiration please check out my fellow design team members:

Should you ever be in need of anything you can find it here (Misty also carries a lot of brands that are not yet posted on the website - so don't be shy and send her an email)

Mixed media

Hi there!

So this is my first shot at a mixed media canvas.

This was meant to be my project for the youtube hop MB's Treasurista hosted previous this month, but those of you who remembers, the requirements where white with a splash of two colours.

Let me tell you thou, there are only two colours, but I gessoed the canvas as to prep it and then I wanted to mod podge the spray. I have no idea what happend, but firstly, I could see the spray react with the gesso and when I had managed to even that out it was very much lighter than the peach spray I had in mind. As I also had intention to spray it with green Lindy's i wanted to seal it. So naturally, the colour reacted with the sealing as well and there, I had yellow for some reason?! On a try-out the sealing didn't work wonder so I had hopes that I would be able to correct it when I sprayed away later (when everything was glued down), but don't you think that now, why not, the sealing worked and nothing would stick to it...

Oh well, it grow on me after a while and now I'm almost liking it :D

Teach me Tuesday at MB's Treasurista, creative gift wrapping

Hi everyone!

I'm sharing my way of giftwrapping bottles today.

Don't you just think that the gift bags for wine bottles are just boring and dull?
And it's not that it's a surprise when you pull out the bottle, the bag pretty much says it all.
Yet, it's so easy to bring a bottle of nice wine as a gift for the hostess - instead of a flower.

So I came up with this easy way of altering the bottle, without ruining the label.

The first time I did it I used layers of paper and stamped the sentiment. MB's Treasurista has amazing wide lace, which I used instead of paper. You can compare HERE.

But this is all it takes:

To become this:

 Here's how I did:
As I wanted to use lace instead of paper, I still need to back it with paper. This is just to prevent the glue from sticking to the bottle. You want to keep the wrapping removeble.

To make the lace wrapping I set the edges with eyelets using my crop-o-dile, just eyeballing how many and the width in between them.

I then place everything that I need a flat surface for. If I'd used paper instead of leaves, this is when I would stamp the background or distress the edges.

I then lace the wrapping around the bottle with ribbon and twine. Making sure it's tight enough not to slip and then I tie a bow.

Now it's just to glue everything to the wrapping with your glue gun - that's it, easy peasy!

Wedding challenge @Anyone for Anya

Hi everyone!

There are wedding bells ringing at Anyone for Anya this week:)

As I don't have any wedding stamps, neither images or sentiments I decided to make a honeymoon card with my favorite from Anya hats off set. I love this Anya, she looks so sophisticaded and collected.

I coloured her with my copics in light gray, just trying to make some shadows as I wanted her to look like she's all in white. I'm kind of pleased with the result as a beginner copicer :)

I've been on the lookout for suitcases to put her on since I bought the stamp set several years ago, but I could never find the right size. However,  recently I came across Tiddly inks stamps and on their website this set was a digital freebie - yay! If you'd like one too, you can find it HERE

To create some texture on the background I've dry embossed the first layer and heat embossed the die cut background.

To embellish the card I used products from MB's Treasurista. A great place to top up those goodie drawers :) She has a super long supplylist of manufactors, if you can't find it on her website, just email her and she will make you a custom order - this way you can save on shipping as it's only one stop shop :)

Thinking of... MB's treasurista

Hi again!

Hope You all are having a great and inspiring day!
Today I have a great card to show you, although the occasion is sad.

My fellow design team member for MB's Treasurista, the always lovely Leslie, recently lost her mother unexpectedly. Thus, the ladies at Creating a Crafty Life had the brilliant idea to send Leslie some thoughtful creations to show our support and love for her.

Here is my card, thinking of you.

I wanted to make something classic and elegant. So I quickly decided that I would go black and white to keep it simple and clean. In order to gain more depth I dry embossed white cardstock and sprayed it full with perfect pearl. I love the shimmer it leaves. I hid the edge under flatback pearl trim in white from MB's Treasurista's store.

The small white cherub is resting on notes from Vintage finds, Teresa Collins, which are embossed with Lindy's stamp gang embossing powder in Angel wings gold. You can find all these items in Misty's store:)

The cluster of flowers is a mix of oldies but goodies and hip rose buds. I cut a round pearl bead spray in half and stuck the pieces under the paper flowers. To tone the green mulberry leaves I gessoed them lightly. All papers flowers and leaves are sprayed with perfect pearl for shimmer. I had an idea to use the acrylic dimond gems as morning drops of the leaves, but I ended up sticking them underneath the flowers.

The inside of the card is very simple and I only embossed
Tim Holtz birds in LSG angel wings gold.

Products used from MB's Treasurista store:
acrylic dimond gems
flatback pearl trim
green mulberry leaves
hip rose buds
small white cherub
round pearl bead spray
Vintage finds vintage finds, Teresa Collins
