Victor's Kitchen : Authentic Dim Sum For Everyone!

One can easily find a dim sum eatery anywhere here in Singapore.
And to be truthful, I haven't had any really good ones that could be compared to the dim sums I had in Hong Kong.
In my own opinion, I personally think Swee Choon is overrated (Chill,it's just my own view).
But still, as a foodie hunter, I keep my options open to keep trying!
So le foodie partner suggested on bringing me to Victor's Kitchen (which is actually walkable distance from Bras Basah Mrt Station).
I heard from her that the current outlet has expanded compared to the previous time when she was there.
The office crowd occupied most of the tables with a small minority that could be seen opting for take-aways.
"Imposters" everywhere, beware!
MENU!
Order strips like this will be handed to you once you take your seats.
The aunties are really helpful and friendly!
I am really impressed by the service!
HK Summer Iced Tea 冰镇奶茶 ($3.20).
And I can't agree more that this is 100% Hong Kong Taste!
It really reminds me of the ones I had in Hong Kong and I miss them!
Crispy Golden Shrimp Rolls 香脆鲜虾腐皮卷 ($4.80).
This is awesome and mad crispy with the fresh shrimp meat wrapped inside!
Although it is a little too oily, everything is fine.
Char Siew "Bo Luo" Butter Buns 菠萝蜜汁叉烧包 ($5.20).
This is really da bomb!
The bo luo's crispy exterior with the fragrant cha siew combi is just perfecto.
This is by far one of the nicer versions I have ever eaten!
So it's definitely a must-try!
And of course, how can you have a dim sum meal without the presence of the Tasty Queen-Sized Siew Mai 美味蟹黄烧卖 ($4.80)!
The signature and also the best-seller : Golden Egg Yolk Lava Buns 黄金流沙包 ($4.80).
Undeniably the custard was well-done with the oozing salted egg lava and soft bun.
However, my only concern is the layer of oil that forms while consuming it.
It may be too overwhelming to have a second helping because of the oil.
Do bring along a pack of tissue in case things get messy!
Overall, I guess the food faired above average and the service was really good!
I will recommend you guys to give this a try if you are a dim sum lover! ^^

The Assembly Ground Review

Another dining option has been added to your list if you are around town area!
Just footsteps away from the mrt station, you can easily find The Assembly Ground which is located at The Cathay.
A casual cafe located in the mall with spacious seating capacity.
I didn't have to wait for long before I was shown to a table (which is good!)
Love the long counter area where potted plants are placed as visuals.
Some wise words on the wall.
"All good times in life are meant to be shared."
"Drink coffee everyday and read a good book."
Ahhh, isn't that life?
Menu!
Some floral decor for your "photoshoot"?
Note taken and here is my Mocha ($6) for the day.
Nothing much to shout about but still a decent cuppa.
Green Tea Latte ($5.50).
Overwhelm your tastebuds with the power of Matcha.
Here comes our appetizers!
Popcorn Chicken ($9).
Bite size chicken at your heart's content before the real deal comes.
Fried Calamari ($13).
The portion was alright but I still think we are paying abit too much for this.
Undoubtedly crispy and juicy octopus tho.
Truffle Fries ($10).
The truffle smell could be a little more intense.
Roast Beef Melt ($16)
Not a fan of beef but the cheese does look good.
There are three more alternatives to choose from!
Eggs Zoey ($17), your brunch cravings satisfied when it is already dinner time.
Well, but to be truthful, I would not pay the amount for this as there were no side dishes that come along with it.
You can try The Assembly Brunch ($19.50) which is one of the recommended items on the Menu.
I think that would be more worth the money.
Overall, the caffeine and food were alright.
If you are finding a cafe in town to settle your meal, this could be one of them!

Kki Sweets & The Little Drom Store Is Back!

Finally! Finally Kki-Sweets is back!
And I finally found the time to visit it.
Was super excited that they are back in town, because previously it was located at Ann Siang Hill and was closed down for relocation due to rental issues.
And of course, the Little Drom Store is always beside if you would like to buy some uniquely locally designed knick knacks!
I really love the interior with the woody and simple furnishes, the casual ambience somehow calms the souls of our hectic city life.
Immerse yourself in this sea of peacefulness while you enjoy your cake and a cuppa maybe?
Picture that!
This location is certainly much more convenient as compared to Ann Siang Hill.
You can alight at Dhoby Ghaut Station and walk towards The Grand Cathay, at which SOTA is just beside!
This caught my eye because it is super adorable.
Heh.
There is a small area where they sell plates and little essential stuff to complete your high tea sessions.
Well, now for the cakes!
Don't you think it looks like a bowler hat?
Ordered this little furry hat of sweetness, Cafe Dumo ($9.80),
Nothing can go wrong with this milk chocolate coffee mousse cake.
The taste reminds me very much of Ferrero Rocher.
More close-ups!
Finding the balance of sweetness and softness of these little devils is the key to grab my soul.
Thumbs up!
Fromage Melon ($8.80), cheese mousse with rock melon centre.
The nutty base is something to die for with the soft cream mousse on top.
Kki Sweets never fails to amaze me with their cakes, which is why I am willing to pay for them.
I would still recommend these two cakes (Little Red Riding Hood & Antoinette) I've tried way back when Kki-Sweets was at Ann Siang Hill :- http://msfoodiehuin.blogspot.sg/search/label/Kki-Sweets
Hope there will be more creations in time to come!
How can you not give this little store a visit too right?
Love this one but it's abit too pricey for a badge, D:
Need I say more?
It's time for you to try the cakes here!
Kki Sweets & The Little Drom Store are waiting for you!

Concetto by Saveur Review

Finally get to try this.
Concetto replaced Billy Bombers' (yet another finally) which was situated at The Cathay.
Despite the popularity of Saveur, we got the table in less than an hour!
And yes, I am quite a big fan of Saveur cause of the quality French dishes you can get at an affordable price.
So why not?
The place was crowded when we entered.
Here the menu which is categorized into 4 main sections :
which includes Earth (appetizers), Land (veg and meat), Seas (fish and shellfish) and lastly Light(desserts).
We were aware it's a Saturday night, but the seats which we were brought to was just beside the....?
EGGS. HAHAHA yup, eggs.
It was a two-seater, but the table was way too small.
I have no complains about this but it's just funny.
Happy sitting with the eggs. :P
Our orders came shortly after that, and this is what le mister ordered.
Bolognese ($11.90) ; pappardelle, ragu bolognese served w three sauces.
Pappardelle are large, very broad , flat pasta noodles.
It has this very meaty taste which is not really to my liking.
The three sauces include tomato, some beef and cream sauce? (which I don't recommend adding)
Here's what I had!
Duck Tortellini ($12.90) ; topped w poached egg, new potato and parmesan emulsion.
Love the arty decoration to it.
The tortellini together with the foam just brings the duck meat wrapped inside to another degree.
It was a pity one of the tortellini wasn't cooked well.
And there are like 5 pieces in it.
If you are a huge eater, this may not be able to fill your tummy.
And of course, the highlight!
DESSERT!!!
Tiramisu in Concetto way ($10.90)
Yup definitely a surprise.
This is art.
You can't go wrong with Saveur desserts. You just can't.
I am always impressed with how their desserts are made to play with your tastebuds.
This is really dope.
Absolutely a must-try!
Tiramisu will never be the same again.
