WOOLLOOMOOLOO Cafe : Cafehopping in Taipei!

Cafehopping can be twice as fun when you are in a foreign country.
Especially the navigating part, but most of them were done by le mister, so lucky me.
This cafe was introduced by a fellow friend who highly recommended the place for brunch!
Once you step into the cafe, you will be welcomed by the strong aroma of coffee!
Cute idea.
It was a weekend when we arrived.
The main area was already full house (mostly families)!
Desserts are served here too!
Like many cafes, Woolloomooloo also goes for the simple yet chic industrial interior with mainly wooden furniture pieces that are placed all over the cafe.
Yes! The wooden horse is for kids!
We were seated at a long table shown in the photo above.
It was quite awkward because the brunch crowd came pouring in and soon after, our table was fully occupied.
Anyway, the cafe has a second level but I was too shy to venture off snapping photos like a mad woman.
I can totally feel how civilized Taiwanese people are, so I shall not disrupt the nature.
I then decided it's best to take my seat and order my meal. Ha!
Menu!
After a distance of travelling, we decided on cold beverages.
Iced Latte (TWD 180~S$7.50) & Iced Mocha (TWD 180 ~S$7.50).
My latte tasted abit funny so I preferred Mister's Mocha more.
Woolloomooloo Brunch Plate (TWD 350~S$15).
How can we not try the brunch plate when we are here for that meal of the day right?
And what's there not to love, when you can find everything - scrambled eggs (which were really awesome), fried tomato, roasted potato wedges (would prefer more slices!), baked beans (can I exchange this for more wedges?), avocado, onion, sauteed mushrooms, pork sausage and home-made sourdough!
Top up TWD 40 ~S$2 to change your eggs for an omelette!
Mister chose the Pizza For The Carnivore (TWD 550~S$23) which totally sounds like the right dish for him.
The amount of meat lying there was amazingly incredible.
I only had two slices and was really really full after that.
You should never follow the photo above.
Use your hands to deal with the pizza not the utensils!
Classic Pancakes (TWD 280 ~S$12) which is only available on weekends.
Sad to say we were quite disappointed by this one.
The portion wasn't really generous and the pancakes weren't that fluffy.
I guess we kinda expected more since it stated this is only available on weekends.
You can't miss out a hipster cafe like this in Taipei, you just can't!
Overall, we love the environment (just not the seating arrangement) and the food faired decent!
Will re-visit if we have the chance to try the coffee again!
Woolloomooloo is around a 10-minutes walk away from the highest building
- Taipei 101!

Pong Gelato : Try This Thai-Styled Huskful of Coconut Madness!

If you love the Bangkok's version of coconut ice cream served in a husk, then perhaps you should head over to Pong Gelato (which is easily accessible at *Scape, just beside Cineleisure @ Somerset)!
There is no seating area, so this is basically on a take-away basis!
We really love the cute cartoon mascots which represent the different fruit-flavored sorbets that they have!
The Coconut Gelato is a default option but you may also opt to replace it with Milk Gelato at an additional $0.50.
The best seller of them all!
And of course we had to try the signature item right?
We chose the Coconut Gelato in Husk with a choice of Mango Sorbet ($5.50).
The mango sorbet is the next recommended flavor in line after coconut.
If you don't fancy these, fear not, because passion fruit and banana are also available!
As for the three free toppings, we had corn, nata de coco and red beans!.
Others include peanuts and corn flakes etc.
Verdict : Thumbs up!
Way better than the ones I had at BKK!
The fruity aroma in each sorbet (in this case, the mango and coconut) was really intense.
With the help of the toppings, they added layers of munching goodness at the tip of my tongue!
After you are done with the coconut meat and the sorbet, don't forget the coconut juice to complete your coconut fix!
Currently, they have limited menu choices to choose from.
Let's hope there will be more new creations in time to come!
You can also find Juicy Slush which is just beside Pong, where you can find mix frozen slush delights to quench your thirst under this sunny weather in Singapore

Drips Bakery Cafe : We Specialize In Tarts!

Hey folks!
It's midweek finally!
How's your week so far?
...
Fancy some delectable delights after a meal?
Maybe you can put Drips Bakery Cafe into consideration?
There is a range of sweet & savoury bites to choose from!
And of course, caffeine and non-caffeinated beverages.
Interior goes the simple yet cozy style, the mood that sets in is ideal for chilling out or even reading a book.
So le makan partner and I spent almost 2 hours catching up and enjoying our desserts.
Opt for comfortable seats like this!
The mooncake-like pillow that I held onto.
But, this wasn't my doing!
Be enticed by the range of pastries and treats that welcomes you upon stepping in!
Now that i see it, the quiches and the chicken pies look so super good!
Although they are rather pricey in my own opinion :o
Anyway, you are sure to find something you are craving for here!
If not, try some cakes or tarts maybe?
The cake display is the most tempting one for me of them all!
And I mean like how can we not try the stuff that they specialize in, right?
I eyed one of these straight away!
Guess which one?
The little chalkboard menu on the wall.
Found a random signage at the cashiering area!
Guess the owner couldn't quite find a spot other than here eh?
Le partner chose Baked Cherry Brandy Tart ($8).
She claimed that the tart crust was worth the bucks paid.
However, it was a pity as there wasn't any tinge of alcoholic taste that the tart was supposed to have.
Imagine the cherries fused with brandy, it would be a real seduction to the taste buds!

Dark Chocolate De Banana Tart ($8).
YES!
This was the one that caught my eye right away!
Its heavenly taste definitely lived up to its appearance!
The dark chocolate was perfect, the crust as well as the generous portion of sliced bananas!
This is a thumbs up!
Hot Chocolate ($5),which came in a pretty cute mug.
It seemed as if I were having an afternoon tea session at home though.
Hahaha.
Simple pleasures like these in life makes everything better!
Verdict : TRY THE DARK CHOCOLATE DE BANANA TART!!!
If you have tried the others and will like to give some recommendations, share with us! ^^

Perhaps some Churros Waffles from Roosevelt's Diner & Bar?

If you are lazy to walk around Tanjong Pagar/Outram and you are trying to locate a meal spot, why not try Roosevelt's Diner & Bar?
(which is just at exit H, of the purple line, Outram Park station)
Roosevelt's is a modern diner that offers all-day dining with a variety of food choices!
And I love how these industrial chic furniture pieces are chosen.

Where you can spot : a series of lightbulbs used as a decorative statement piece...
"mismatched" yet cool combination of chairs...
a brick backwall at the counter area...
wall menu for tonight...
and several other art canvas that are being hung up on the respective walls!
An extensive spread of menu choices to choose from!

It looks like I am having this glorious spread all to myself (again), but no!
Latte ($4.80)
Truffle Fries ($11)
I thought the fries were average, nothing to shout about.
The portion was rather small for the amount paid.
But still, cravings were satisfied.
Egg Roosevelt ($17) consists of two poached eggs, chorizo, lemon garlic mayo (which pretty much is just mayo), and mashed potato.
I find this dish a tad too dry and the combination of ingredients didn't blend well much together.
The mayo didn't work good as a sauce with the eggs too.
I would prefer hollandaise sauce instead of mayo a thousand times.
Fortunately, the mashed potato tasted alright.
Initially, I was caught in between whether to get this or the Jalapeno Bacon & Truffle Mac & Cheese.
So I kinda did regret not ordering the Mac & Cheese. :o
Next up!
Dessert time!!!
Churros Waffles ($12) with cinnamon sugar, butter and mocha sauce!!!
Look at how the mocha sauce works on the waffles, and those are CHURROS waffles (to remind you again).
Le foodie partner getting ready to dig in the plate of goodness.
Fan of churros + waffles?
Come try it now!!!
Another cuppa from le partner's friend who happened to be working here at Roosevelt's.
.
Verdict : Maybe some Mac & Cheese upon next visit?!
.
With my crazyass makan partner of the day!
Signing off, folks!
Stay foodie!!! ^^
