Citrus Twist Kits | December Kits

Hello everyone!!

I'm here today to share with you my last 12x12 layout of 2016!!!! :) When you'll read this I'll be in the plane heading to Canada! It's -25 today and that scares me a bit, but I can't wait to see my mom's Christmas tree and to pet the cats. ;)

So here's my last layout made with the December 2016 Citrus Twist Kits.

It's about the girls' aunt, uncle and small cousin visiting us in Prague. Second time the cousins meet.

I loves making the layout pretty with soft pastel colors and gentle touches of embellishments here and there. I love creating dimension and mixing textures like thread, vellum, puffy stickers and wood.

When I want a picture to stand out, I mat it. I really love love love this paper!! It reminds me of some minerals and I'm a mineral collector so. :)

These chipboard letters too: how pretty?!!!

VoilĂ . :)
What I love with kits is that there is really enough in there to make a good 4 layouts without having to look further for more stuff. When the kit is pretty much used, I put what's left of it with my stash. Works wonderfully.

Citrus Twist Kits | December Kits

Hello everyone!

I loved working with the Citrus Twist Kits December kits this month! The December kits weren't Christmas related at all.

Here is a page I made about my dream of becoming a designer coming true! <3 nbsp="" p="">I used a very neutral and subtle background. I think I would have lost my pictures on a white background. My photos are the overview of my summer collection and a part of the banner of my winter collection. I'm pretty happy that I could blend them together even though the color scheme is so different!

This cork shape was just the perfect element to act as my title! I really love those pieces of gold in the creases. I supported the title by adding a lot more of these cork shapes.

I sort of underlined my title with a cluster of die cuts. I also sneezed a small stamp in there. ;)

Adding some sweet details and soft colors + some shiny gold.

I really love the dimension of the twine and the small chipboard heart here.

Some stitching for good mesure. Notice how the 2 photos, the title and these labels form a diagonal line through the page?

For this subtitle (it's not really a subtitle, but it's sort of a 2nd title), I used my brush pen and a stamp. I like the contrast of the two different fonts.

that tape printed on the paper is the perfect place to add an element. And the date! :)

And here's my journaling. I realize that when the page is going into my own personal album, I usually write in French. When the page goes into the family album, I alternate French and English but I mainly write in English. It's a natural process and I don't really think about it.

Are you still hard at work on your December Daily? Just a little hint, sometimes it's fun and helpful to switch gear for only one evening. ;)

Talk to you soon!!

Citrus Twist Kits | December kits and digital download

Hi everyone!

Today I'm on the Citrus twist Kits bog with a layout and a digital file that I created and am sharing with you! :)

Head over there to know how to download it.

Say a little prayer.

I'm not a church girl, but in France, something resonated with all of us in Notre-Dame and in Sacré Coeur. The girls wanted to light a candle. They even wanted to take a coin home, you know, the ones coming out of the press machine?

So anyway, that day, when they lit up a candle, I made a prayer. A prayer of joy and love and healed hearts. And a month later, I know something happened that day. (I'll leave it to that for now. On my blog anyway.)

I doubled the cut file. In white it just didn't pop out enough, and in bleu neither, so I used both. :)

I played with the tones of the background paper to place my elements on this page. The red candles arrive on the most red part of the background and the grey church + the blue jackets of the girls are on the blue part of the background. You can see a pinkish light in the bottom photo, so I placed it in the pink part of the background.

I then placed my embellishments according to the colors as well. The yellow embellishments found a place next to the whitefish yellowish candles. And the blue and white title goes next to the blue part... Would you have noticed all that hadn't I point it out? Do you think of things like that when you build a layout? Or do you just follow your gut? I do a little bit of both. I think I start with my gut and then try to mix in some design principles. :) Following Debbie Hodge at Get it Scrapped, reading her articles on the blog and doing some assignments for her help me so much to notice these small details. :)

So don't forget to download your cut file. :D
Have a wonderful day and talk to you again soon!

Citrus Twist Kits | November Kits

Hello everyone!

Here are 2 more pages I made with my Citrus Twist Kits November kits.
This one is another one from my Disney series.

Loved all the small elements in the kit this month.

And this one is documenting our first Halloween in Prague:

I kept it very simple, but with the 3 pictures and the journaling I'm capturing the essence of the event.

And I still have texture and dimension:

All the kits come in kraft paper bags tied with a string that I love to use on my layouts. :)

I loved pairing the die cuts with the cork shapes of the same color.

Thanks for looking!

Citrus Twist Kits

Hello hello!

Wow Christmas is approaching so fast and I am so busy!! It's a good busy, but it's still busy. :)

I don't know if you've followed along on Instagram/Facebook, but last week I received my car! I have been waiting 4 months to get it. 4 months in a new country with only one car for the family to share. I have to say that I had the car all the time except these 2 random days where I didn't have it and then I realized how I missed my car!!

So anyway, I was happy to pick up my car, as you can see here. Like, over happy! I was so nervous to get there and drive in the big city of Prague for the first time (I've been driving around school and the house only up to then).

So overjoyed that I even took a picture while taking gaz for the first time. Yep, you can roll your eyes!

And well, I was that happy until 20 minutes later, when white smoke started coming in the car and it started to smell like burnt breaks. That's when I was really really happy that a friend came with me! She told me where to park and we then asked for help...because we couldn't,t open the hood! Yep, roll your eyes as much as you want. The two men we asked also took a good 5 minutes to get it open. ;)

And then, we had a discussion.... in Czech! Well, they were speaking Czech. Like a waterfall! I caught a couple of german words that were thrown in there and they said that it was normal for a new car. No Problem. This seems the be the words when a Czech can't speak English. So we drove home, with all the windows open.

When I got home I called the garage and the salesman told me it was No Problem. Of course not. He said to drive the car a couple of days and within 3-4 days, the smell should disappear. And that if it didn't, I should just drive to the garage and they would check it out. Insert an emoji with really big stunned eyes right here!

And then I remembered that when he gave me the car, between all the words he said, the man said that if I had any problems with the car, battery or what ever, I should call Mazda assistance. And that's what I did. From home, I called them.

The girls who took the phone call spoke English. Phew!!! I explained and she didn't say no problem. She said: "I'll send you a towing.Tomorrow." See, that's what happens when a Czech can speak English. :) So the next morning, I didn't have my car for a full day yet, I saw it go away...

It was a very sad and grey foggy morning.

To make this already too long story short, the car had nothing. The salesman drove my car (What?!! The car didn't go to the service? Apparently not...) and said it was No Problem. I picked up my car the same day. And it smelled like...burnt breaks. No smoke this time. 4 days later I have a nice blue car. It almost doesn't smell anymore. Everything will be ok. No Problem!

And so that story (and the headaches that came with the fumes) prevented me to do my layouts for Citrus Twist Kits earlier. But I did them this weekend and here they are! :)

Using a white background, I stitched (not without difficulty) 2 frames with golden thread around my photos.

I wrote the place with my calligraphy brush pen.

Added a title with my beautiful foam thickers. And added some really cute accents such as this golden leaf shaped paperclip! How cute is that?!!!

For my second layout, I used a black background. I'm still not sure about the look, but my foggy picture somehow screamed for it! And I backed the picture with some viid colors so I guess it makes the black background disappear a little.

I really love all the little bits and pieces that were in the kits this month. Wood, cork, ribbon, twine, puffy stickers, sequins, golden metal. Just perfect!

I really like all these fall colors when standing together.

I printed my journaling with the computer onto vellum. It lets the background show just a tiny little bit. It also helps keep the black in proportion.

What do you think if we stop here for today and I'll show you two more layouts this week? I think so. :)

So thanks for stopping by and see you again real soon!

Pretty Little Studio | 4x4 layouts

Hey everyone!

Look at these cute tiny 4x4 layouts I made with my collection Here Comes The Sun!

The paper containing 4 4x4 squares was PERFECT for that! It made the perfect backgrounds!

Here's my first layout with a space for my friend to put a picture of us. I only attached the empty photo paper with a paperclip so it will be easy to substitute.

I added lots of cute die cuts and Wrote part of the title on this small pink banner and the rest I spelled with tiny letters from Maggie Holmes.

I really love the multiple borders of stitching all around the small canvas. :)

I made my second page similar to the first one starting with a background paper and building on top of it with embellishments.

I love that space in the circle frame to write the journaling. I used the vellum tape to add some words to the title.

I stitched my title and curled the top and bottom of it to give it lots of dimension. I really like them in real life. They look really cute and I can't wait for my friend to get them. :)

You can find a list of the specific products I used on the Pretty Little Studio blog post or you can simply visit the Pretty Little Studio shop and pick and choose what you like most from the collection.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Get it Scrapped | Convey an idea with design

Hi everyone!

Today on the Get it Scrapped blog you will find many examples of how to convey an idea with your design. It means, how can you reinforce and illustrate what you want to say not only with the pictures and the words, but also with your layout design.

Here's my take on it:

You can read about my design choices on the  Get it Scrapped blog.

I used almost exclusively products from my collection on this page. This 12x12 paper though is from Studio Calico and the paperclips are from Dear Lizzy, but the rest is from the collection Here Comes The Sun and you can find it here.

I really liked playing with my collection. This is the second layout I made with it. :) As you can see I used lots of die cuts.

And word stickers. I'm really happy with the selection of phrases I chose to be made into a product! They are very versatile. I also love that some of them are pink and some of them are blue. It makes for a cute detail.

On the left of my photos, I have a cute cluster of embellishments: a High 5 flair button, the number 6 in gold foil which is one of my favorite product in the whole line the gold foil numbers (and letters!)  I added a golden bow paperclip (Dear Lizzy) and a small p.s. cork embellishment from one of my Citrus Twist Kits. I love to pair several round embellishments together. I also paired the small heart die cut with a word sticker to create a really interesting "love you". :)

I layered 3 pieces of "paper": the Sunset paper, the clear Tiny Hearts, and the vellum Flowers. It's great to have many kind of see through papers to play with!

I layered a white doily that I had in my stash and added some speech bubbles: one with gold foil and a pink one with a heart inside + a very cute golden flamingo paperclip (Dear Lizzy).

I added some black foam quotation marks and I think it's cute that one of them is on the left page of the layout. :)

Here you can the the beginning of the journaling.

And the rest of the journaling down there.

Not only did I use the number 6 but I also spelled it out to put more emphasis on Maya's age. More on that in the article on the Get it Scrapped blog post.

On the right page, because i wanted to leave lots of space to the words, I added only some die cuts clusters. They ind of finish the page off and also bring the left and the right pages together.

The final touch: a really cute cloud flair button and a small flag die cut where I've added the date.

I hope you enjoyed my layout. If so, leave me a comment and subscribe to my blog. :)
Thank you and talk to you again soon.
