How to Get a Girlfriend

I was surprised when I saw a searched keyword used by a visitor from Google and found his way to my blog. He searched "How to Get a Girlfriend". Now, whoever you are, perhaps, google led you to my site because we have something in common. We desperately need tips to get a girlfriend.

So I've read a few sites and some magazines regarding the subject matter and I have come up with 5 major tips on how to get a girlfriend. Do you have your pen and paper ready?

Okay, first off, start with a positive mindset. You may not be the hottest guy in town but one thing's for sure, some girl out there may be just right for you and simply waiting for your attention. Be confident. To look confident, have a good posture. Avoid self-pity.

2. Be friendly. Try to reach out to more people. Try to be funny. But if you're not naturally funny, don't try too hard around her. Situational humor through good timing is more interesting than a practiced punched-line jokes.

3. Connect with her. Find out what you have in common, and reward her with a smile and a story of your own if she tells you something unique about herself to which you can relate. Don't pretend to be someone you aren't. You may think you will win her over with like-mindedness, but in the end she will find you out. Find a common interest, something you both like instead.

4. Show your interest. The best way to get out of the "friend trap" is to avoid it from the start. After finding common interests, make your intentions clear. Ask for her number. Give her your phone, tell her "Put your number in my phone and I'll call your phone so you'll have mine." Tell her you'd like to take her out for coffee or dinner, or whatever is appropriate for your age and interests. Try giving gifts if you can afford it. Girls are very fond cute cartoon characters and jewelries so if you can afford it perhaps, try spending a few bucks to buy let's say hello kitty necklaces.

5. The last and most overlooked part in how to get a girlfriend is that you must look for someone who is compatible with you. If you’re a geek that enjoys playing video games, then go for a cute geeky girl that enjoys playing video games as well. If you’re into going outdoors, then find a girl that enjoys the same things as you. Getting a girlfriend can be a very rewarding experience if you choose right and will enhance your quality of life to levels you never thought possible, who knows, she might end up being your fiance one day!

How to Make an Aquarium

Hi, whatzup! ^^

I had four days off from work last week from Sunday to Wednesday. It's because I had 2 days vacation leave from work and two rest days. Sunday was our family day slash worship day. On Monday we went to Aqua Cainta - a pool resort nearby. On Tuesday I got bored. So I decided to buy a fish as a pet.

I've always been interested with ornamental fishes. When I was a kid, I used to buy gold fish from a near by pet shop but it always end up dead the next day or next week. It's because I didn't know how to take care of it back then.

So again, I bought 3 red-capped gold fishes, an 8 x 12 x 6 small aquarium and some aquatic plants.


... and of course some pebbles to deceive the fishes. Aquatic plants shown above are being sold for only P5.


... aren't they lovely? ^^
There ye go fish! Please my babies go ye and multiply. LOL

Hmm... I'm thinking of giving them names. What do you think would be good names for them?

Young Love Sweet Love

I would like to share to you guys a short poem that I wrote when I was in High School. I just think it's kinda funny or I don't know, I just can't help but smile everytime I re-read my poem that I wrote when I was 15. It makes me feel nostalgic. We all have gone to that stage, right? First crush, first love, and first kiss. Wow! Reminiscin' those young love sweet love days, I just can't help but smile.

So, here it goes:

Days have I been feeling


this admiration,

I have been longing for


a glimpse of your affection.

Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat on Ellen

I saw this video on Youtube featuring Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat singing their song Lucky. I enjoyed watching the video and thought that they really are a couple. But they said on some TV news that they are not, which makes me sad. LOL. Ah! If these two would become a couple, then in my opinion they would be the most awesome and not to mention the cutest acoustic couple in the music world. Don't you agree?

I just can't get enough of them so here's another video of Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat with The Fray:



Their duo became popular because of their song Lucky. Personally, I like the song. The rhythm is so cool and they did a great job with the lyrics that conveys the message. The song is about being in love with a best friend which also happens to be the theme of the movie Paano na Kaya. Paano na Kaya starred by Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson has been moving its way up to another blockbuster record for Star Cinema. Wooho! Congrats!



So, what are your thoughts about falling in love with a best friend? Some say it's risky or not healthy as it might ruin the friendship if the relationship doesn't work. On my next post I will try to list down the pros and cons of stepping up from best friends to lovers. Feel free to comment. ^_^

My mom has been asking me when will she ever have a grandchild from me. Well, that's a tough question to answer especially if I haven't even thought of getting married.

1. Alone but not lonely. Now that I am in a new team, there are times that I eat alone during my one-hour lunch break. It might sound sad but I take it the positive way. During my lunch break, I can go to my favorite restaurant located on the ground floor of the same building and there I can surf the internet via Wifi and check my Yahoo emails and manage my blog which I can’t do inside the office. There’s always a bright side in everything.

Una sa lahat, gusto kong pasalamatan si CF Rhona dahil nagka-dotcom ako ng dahil sa kanyang pakontest. The Dreamy Idealist Dreams of His Perfect Other

I finally took the courage to visit my blog and post a new entry during my lunchbreak. This will be a quick post but I believe it's going to be a long read. But I do hope you will still take time to read. hehe

On Seeing the Perfect Other

I've read a story that reminds me of a certain girl to whom I fell inlove with but things were just too complicated. I met this girl some time 2 years ago. She was single back then, so was I. I thought we had a connection. I liked her, no, I was inlove with her, but for some reasons, at that time, I thought it just wouldn't work for both of us. And when the time came that I realized that she's the perfect girl for me, it's too late as she is already in a relationship with some guy.

So here goes the story, taken from "Haruki Murakami's On Seeing the 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April Morning"

Once upon a time, there lived a boy and a girl. The boy was eighteen and the girl sixteen. He was not unusually handsome, and she was not especially beautiful. They were just an ordinary lonely boy and an ordinary lonely girl, like all the others. But they believed with their whole hearts that somewhere in the world there lived the 100% perfect boy and the 100% perfect girl for them. Yes, they believed in a miracle. And that miracle actually happened.

One day the two came upon each other on the corner of a street.

"This is amazing," he said. "I've been looking for you all my life. You may not believe this, but you're the 100% perfect girl for me."

"And you," she said to him, "are the 100% perfect boy for me, exactly as I'd pictured you in every detail. It's like a dream."

They sat on a park bench, held hands, and told each other their stories hour after hour. They were not lonely anymore. They had found and been found by their 100% perfect other. What a wonderful thing it is to find and be found by your 100% perfect other. It's a miracle, a cosmic miracle.

As they sat and talked, however, a tiny, tiny sliver of doubt took root in their hearts:

"Was it really all right for one's dreams to come true so easily?"

And so, when there came a momentary lull in their conversation, the boy said to the girl, "Let's test ourselves - just once. If we really are each other's 100% perfect lovers, then sometime, somewhere, we will meet again without fail. The test they had agreed upon, however, was utterly unnecessary. They should never have undertaken it, because they really and truly were each other's 100% perfect lovers, and it was a miracle that they had ever met. But it was impossible for them to know this, young as they were. The cold, indifferent waves of fate proceeded to toss them unmercifully.

One winter, both the boy and the girl came down with the season's terrible inluenza, and after drifting for weeks between life and death they lost all memory of their earlier years. When they awoke, their heads were as empty as the young D. H. Lawrence's piggy bank.

They were two bright, determined young people, however, and through their unremitting efforts they were able to acquire once again the knowledge and feeling that qualified them to return as full-fledged members of society. Heaven be praised, they became truly upstanding citizens who knew how to transfer from one subway line to another, who were fully capable of sending a special-delivery letter at the post office. Indeed, they even experienced love again, sometimes as much as 75% or even 85% love.

Time passed with shocking swiftness, and soon the boy was thirty-two, the girl thirty.

One beautiful April morning, in search of a cup of coffee to start the day, the boy was walking from west to east, while the girl, intending to send a special-delivery letter, was walking from east to west, but along the same narrow street in the Harajuku neighborhood of Tokyo. They passed each other in the very center of the street. The faintest gleam of their lost memories glimmered for the briefest moment in their hearts. Each felt a rumbling in their chest. And they knew:

"She is the 100% perfect girl for me." "He is the 100% perfect boy for me."

But the glow of their memories was far too weak, and their thoughts no longer had the clarity of fourteen years earlier. Without a word, they passed each other, disappearing into the crowd. Forever.

A sad story, don't you think? Yes, that's it, that is what I should have said to her.

“What’s eating you?”

My 12-year old cousin was asking me, “Kuya, what’s eating you?” I was a little startled with her question, so I was like, “Huh?” Then she said, “Dugay na man ko wa kita nimo… what’s eating you?” (I haven’t seen you for a while, what’s eating you?)

Instead of answering her, I ran to the nearest computer and I made a little research about it. I googled, “what’s eating you?” (Akalain mong mas marami pang alam na figure of speech yung bata, kesa sakin. Tsk tsk!)

I learned that, “What’s Eating You?” can be interpreted as:
* What’s consuming your time lately?
* What’s bugging you?
* What’s making you busy lately?

So, what’s eating me lately?

Basically, these are the things that's currently "eating" me aside from my regular job:

• DOTA: Defense of the Ancients is a custom scenario for Warcraft III, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft The objective of the scenario is to destroy the opponents' "Ancient". The two teams' ancients are heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters called "creeps". • Reading Awake! Magazine: Awake! is a general-interest magazine published by the The WatchTower Organization. The title comes from Mark 13:33 and Luke 12:36. It is considered a companion magazine to The Watchtower which focuses mostly on Bible study and doctrine. Awake! has a wider scope than the Watchtower, publishing articles on science, nature and geography, usually with a religious slant.


• Chatting with friends online. Most of these online friends are young OFW's. I have always dreamed of working abroad that's why almost every once in a while I give these guys a buzz on YM and ask them about how is it like living and working abroad.

On my next post, I will be featuring some young OFW with a glimpse of their stories.

Closure

It's been a month since the last time I saw you. The last thing I heard about you is that you are currently dating someone. What can I say? Maybe, this is how this waiting game ends. We've finally reached this point. Somehow, I knew this is going to happen. But the optimist in me was hoping for something better. I've always believed that I couldn't welcome the thought of letting you go. But I realized I am better than that. Funny how it was hard for me to let go someone I never had. Funny how stupid I had been. Stupid, maybe I was. Optimistic, I know I am. I am not going to weep anymore. I've done that already through out this stupid game. Maybe, I deserve someone better. Or maybe you deserve someone better than me. I wish you all the best. I really do.

Ten Random Things About Me

I was tagged by Rye aka Flamindevil to list Ten Random Things About Me and it's okay kasi wala pa naman akong na-iisip na topic for a new entry. As usual, the rule is to list down ten information about yourself, nine of them are facts and one is a LIE. So feel free to make a guess guys. ;)

Ok, so without further ado, here it goes...




10 Random Things About Me


1. I was born in Valenzuela City, Metro Manila. My mom used to work as secretary at a local law firm. She quit her job because his employer attempted to harass her and so we moved back to Cebu when I was 5.


2. I used to be a mommy's boy when I was younger. But as I was growing up, we've had conflicts which created a slight gap between us. But that does not alter the fact that I love my mom so much.


3. I am a 23-year old male virgin. No need to hurry. I am saving it for the right person and it’s gonna happen at the right time.


4. I stand 5 feet and 5.5 inches. I’ve always been unhappy with my height and I am so obsessed of gaining more height that I even bought 2 bottles of Cherifer PGM 2 months ago. Even at 23, I am still taking it daily. LOLz.


5. I have a mild thoracic dextroscoliosis 25 degrees. My back looks a little uneven but no, I’m not a hunchback. For more information about scoliosis. Visit Wikipedia.com and enter “scoliosis”. Hehe. ;p


6. I used to go to a gym as advised by my doctor. I had a physical therapist who used to guide me with the exercises. Kaso nung nalaman kong bakla sya, nag-quit ako kasi di ko sya type.. haha.. Nakakatakot sya kasi he was huge!! 5'11 ata yun!Medyo Chubby!


7. I’ve had 3 official girlfriends. None of those relationships lasted 4 months.


8.When I was in Grade 6, I thought I was infatuated with our PE teacher!! He was very good at basketball. Now, I've realized it was just plain admiration. Perhaps I was just looking up to him like a father figure or older brother.


9. One of the movies that made me cry in a movie house was Steven Spielberg's Artificial Intelligence (2001). The movie was like a story of a boy robot. It's like a modern Pinocchio movie (as if di nyo napanood, hehe). The fact that he went that far but was not able to accomplish his goal, that is, to look for the blue fairy who can make him a real boy, and that scene wherein his "mom" abandoned him in the woods because they thought he might hurt their real son, oh it's just so heart-breaking.

Mahal ko si DOTA

Napag-isip isip ko na marahil masyadong malungkot ang tema ng aking huling dalawang blogpost at ayokong makahawa o magdulot ng malungkot na atmospera sa blogosphere. Paumanhin po kung ganun man. At paumanhin po kung mali-mali ang aking Tagalog ngayon. Gusto ko lang talaga subukan mag-post ng purong Tagalog lang, ng maiba naman. Bisaya po talaga ako. ;)

Nais ko pong ibahagi ang isang nakakatawang e-mail na natanggap ko mula sa isang kaibigan. Hindi po sya blogger kaya wala akong link na mailalagay.

Dahil ako po ay mahilig din sa larong DOTA, na-tuwa talaga ako ng matanggap ko ito.

Puppy Love

If smart people usually have stupid hearts, well, with the rate that my stupid heart is going, I must be a freaking genius!

That statement above that I’ve read from Flamindevil’s post, Question Everything has really made a hell of an impact to me. Why? Because I believe I’ve been cursed to live with a stupid and stubborn heart. And it reminds me of my puppy love. Might sound cheesy but it's true.

With the number of times I’ve had my heart broken, I can’t help but ask myself, “Am I intellectually gifted?” My mom would probably say “YES!” without a doubt. Why of course, she’s my mom. I’m her only son and she loves me.

Wayback in my elementary years, I may not be the brightest kid in class, but I never fail to be included in the top 10. When I was in grade 1, I got recognized as the No. 1 Most Outstanding Student with all other minor awards. Halos di magkasya ang dibdib ko to accommodate ribbons and medals. Haha! Yabang ba? Yaan nyo na po. Minsan lang to.



I graduated in elementary with honors and I belonged to the top 10. Ako yung tipo ng estudyante na hindi nag-aaral unless there’s an exam the following day. Kaya ayun, hindi ako makapasok-pasok sa top 5. Hanggang sa gumradweyt ako ng High School, based on the ranking, top 6th of the graduating class daw ako. That’s why, I have doubts on whether I am smart or not.

Ngunit kung pagbabasehan natin ang pangungusap sa ibabaw, then I must be very smart or intellectually-gifted. LOLs!! Cuz I believe I have a very stupid heart.

Puppy Love

When I was in second year hi-school, I fell in love with my seatmate. Her name was Lynette*. She had a very cute smile. Her eyes were tantalizing. Yung parang nasa anime. We share a lot of things in common, that’s why I easily fell for her. We were both raised with a single mom. Palagi kaming magkasama. Ako taga-gawa ng assignments. Taga-bitbit ng bag. Taga-gawa ng Art projects. She calls me “bessy”. I used to call her “buddy”.

We both loved “Flame of Recca”, a Japanese animated show in which Recca, the protagonist, claims to be a ninja and promised to serve and protect her princess all the time. Everyday we enthusiastically talk about what happened to Recca and her princess.

One time sabi niya, “Mon kamukha mo si Recca.”
“Ikaw nga din eh, kamukha mo yung prinsesa.”
“Really? Owwss!! Talaga?” Sabi ko naman, “Oo talaga!”

She gave me a wide smile and she had the most beautiful smile my eyes had ever seen.
And her lips were pink. I thought that was enough for an invitation so I kissed her. But she pushed me away. Then she stood up and walked away. Leaving me confused and broken..

That night I texted her telling her I was in love with her. She replied and told me to wait because her parents didn’t want her to have a boyfriend at that time. So I waited, and waited… and until my heart has gone tired. But since there never was a closure or she never told me about until when should I keep waiting. Maybe, I'm up until now, my heart is still waiting. For how long? I don’t know…

One day, she texted me this quotes:

We have two eyes and just one tongue, which means we need to look twice and talk once… We have two ears and just one mouth, so we need to listen more than we talk…We have two hands and one stomach, so we need to work twice as much as we eat… We have two major brain parts and one heart, so we can think twice and love only one. Isn’t it amazing that our body parts remind us on how to live right?

100-Day Love Story

Most people spend half if not their whole life looking for the right "one." We are all looking for that special someone to laugh with, to cry with and to be with the rest of our life. Ngunit pano kung, all the while, kasa-kasama mo na pala yung taong inilaan para sa'yo? Lumingon ka, to the left, to the right, pansinin mo yung bestfriend mo na panay ang kurot sa'yo. Yung bestfriend ng kapatid mo na panay ang dalaw at may dala pang siopao o kaya pansit kahit wala namang maysakit. Yung manager mo na ayaw i-approve yung mga leave applications mo dahil ma-mimiss ka, o kaya yung officemate mo na lagi kang tini-treat sa Starbucks, o kaya yung classmate mo na nanghihiram ng libro o kaya nagpapa-tutor kahit sembreak o Christmas vacation. Life is short, ika nga... Baka, pag-narealize natin na mahalaga pala yung taong yun, pag wala na sya... Kung kelan huli na ang lahat. Take for example Peter and Tina.

Tonight - FM Static



Peter and Tina are sitting in the park doing nothing, but just gazing into the sky, while all their friends are having fun with their beloved half.

Tina: I'm so bored. Just wish I have a boyfriend now to spend time with.
Peter: I guess we're the only leftovers. We're the only person who isn't with a date now.
(both sigh n silence for a while)

Tina: I think I have a good idea. Lets play a game
Peter: Eh? What game?
Tina: Eem..It's quite simple. You be my boyfriend for 100 days and I'll be your girlfriend for 100 days. what do you think?




Peter: Oookay..Anyway I don't have any plan for the next few months.
Tina: You sound like you aren't looking forward to it at all. Cheer up. Today will be our first day and our first date. Where should we go?
Peter: What about a movie? I heard that there is a really great movie in theater now.
Tina: Seems like I don't have any better idea than this. Lets move. (went to watch their movies and sent each other home)

Day 2:
Peter and Tina went to a concert together, and Peter bought Tina a keychain with a star.

Day 3:
They went shopping together for a friend's birthday present. Share an ice-cream together and hugged each other for the first time.

Day 7:

Peter drove Tina up onto a mountain and they watch the sunset together. When the night came and the moon glowed, they said sat on the grass gazing at the stars together. A meteor passed by. Tina mumbled something.

Day 25:
Spend time at a themepark and got onto rollercoasters, and ate hotdogs and cotton candy. Peter and Tina got in the haunted house and Tina grabbed someone's hand instead of Peter's hand by accident. They laughed together
for a while.

Day 67:
They drove pass a circus and decided to get in to watch the show. The midget asked Tina to play a part as his assistant in the magic show. Went around to see other entertainments around after the show. Came to a fortune teller and she just said "Treasure every moment from now on" and a tear rolled down the fortune teller's cheek.

Day 84:
Tina suggested that they go to the beach. The beach wasn't so crowded that day. They have their first kiss with each other just as the sun is setting.

Day 99:
They decided to have a simple day and is deciding to have a walk around the city. They sits down onto a bench.

1:23 pm
Tina: I'm thirsty. Lets rest for a while first.
Peter: Wait here while I go buy some drinks. What would you like?
Tina: Eem...Apple juice will be just fine.


1:43 pm
Tina waiting for about 20 minutes and Peter havent return. Then someone walked up to her.
Stranger: Is your name Tina?
Tina: Yes, and may I help you?
Stranger: Just now down there on the street a drunk driver has crashed into a guy. I think its your friend.

Tina ran over to the spot with the stranger and sees Peter lying on the floor with blood over his face and her apple juice still in his hands. The ambulance came and she went to the hospital with Peter. Tina sat outside the emergency room for five and a half hours. The doctor came out, and he sigh.

11:51 pm
Doctor: I'm sorry, but we did the best we could. He is still breathing now but God would take him away from us very soon. We found this letter inside his pocket.

The doctor hands over the letter to Tina and she goes into the room to see Peter. He look weak but peaceful. Tina read the letter and then she burst into tears. Here is what the letter said.

Tina,
Our 100 days is almost over. I had fun with you during all these days. Although you may be greedy sometimes and less thoughtful, but these all brought happiness into my life. I have realize that you are a really cute girl and blamed myself for never taken the time to knowing that. I have nothing much to ask for, but I just wish that we can extend the day. I want to be your boyfriend forever and wish that you can be beside me all the time. Tina, I love you.

Tina: (sobbing) Peter. Did you know what was the wish I made on the night there was a meteor. I asked God to let us last forever. We were suppose to last 100 days so Peter! You can't leave me! I LOVE YOU, but can you come back to
me now? I love you Peter. I LOVE YOU.

As the clock struck twelve, Peter's heart stopped beating. It was 100 days.
