Creative Friday - Wood Buttons

Welcome to another Creative Friday with Katie.  I have a love for Washi Tape and am always on the hunt for new ideas.  Thanks to a few pins on Pinterest, I found something I wanted to try

I used my washi tape to decorate these wooden buttons.
These buttons were in the July MWExpress Kit and they are from Maya Roads.  I know there are tons of ideas for use, but adding some washi tape is another great one!

After I added the tape, the threaded them with string and added to the premade tag.

Here is another shot of a finished button.

Adding washi tape to these buttons is a great way to add color or color coordinate your project.  I hope you enjoyed this creative tip.
If you try this, please leave a link in the comments and I will come visit your blog!

Enjoy your weekend.

Creative Friday

Hi Everyone... Janey again.  Can you believe that it is the end of May!  We are heading out camping this weekend and pray the weather gets a tad bit warmer as we celebrate Memorial Day... A Day to remember the men and women who died while serving in the Armed Forces.  I'd like to thank all those who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice for us!  As we are headed out to celebrate, I can't help but think of all those affected by all the tornadoes and weather in Oklahoma this passed week.  It is just heart wrenching and pray for a quick recovery.

Last week I shared with you my Creative Space.  This week I thought I'd share a few current projects.
Here is a current birthday card for a young man.  I love to emboss and paper piece items.  It was well received.
My daughter recently graduated from college, so why not incorporate some scrapbooking into her day. I took all her photos that she had shared with me during her college years and I created a memory board that included her name, major and college.  She loved it and everyone at her graduation party had fun finding themselves on the board.
I created this "Little Moments" card for one of the gals in my office.  She always looks forward to getting a card from me each year.  I love to ink all the edges of my projects.  I also punched a view scalloped circles to add to the die-cut.  Of course what's a card without a little bling and ribbon... Almost always on my projects.
This project was inspired by my mother.  She is a beautiful seamstress and I wanted to create a little special item for her.  I took two wooden pieces and inked them, added paper and sandwiched an empty toilet paper roll in the middle.  I covered the toilet paper roll with paper and other embellishments as well as ribbon and pearls.  I inked everything I possibly could and spritzed everything with Glimmer Mist.
Here is a view from one of the sides
A view of the top of the bobbin.
A butterfly on a tree...
Inked flowers, pearls and Glimmer Mist...
Cute birdie ...
"Sew Special" banner
"Little Moments" label, inked flower, twine, buttons and more pearls.
Another view showing the "tape measure ribbon" from one of my MWExpress Kits.  A perfect addition to a bobbin don't you think?

Well as you can see, I love all the little details on a project.  I think that it adds so much to a card, altered item or layout.  Each month I look forward to receiving my MemoryWorks Express Kit to see what new products are available.  I have a true passion for crafting and hope that I have inspired you to make something creative today!

Creative Friday - A Little Glimpse Into My Creative Space!

Hi everyone!  Janey here... What's a Creative Friday without showing you where I create?  First I've been asked to introduce myself to you.  As some of you already know I began my journey with MemoryWorks in 2006 as a consultant and am excited to be on my 5th year as a TeamWorks Member. I am a mother to four beautiful grown daughters, and grandmother to the now “eight is great” wonders of my world! I have an eclectic style for scrapbooking with family, my pups Caesar and Dexter and my surroundings as the sources of inspiration. I've been married for over 33 epic years to my “Hunka, Hunka”.  I live in a small town near Lake Tahoe. I have a passion for scrapbooking that originated when I was a young girl. I have always been sentimental and a hoarder of craft supplies!  My hobbies outside of scrapbooking include photography, biking, cooking, sewing, and painting! I love everything about MemoryWorks… the wonderful products, awesome customer service and a very supportive online community. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to explore my creativity here and to be a part of such an amazing company. I am thrilled to be making new friends who share my passion for documenting their lives through scrapbooking, paper crafts and altered art.

I feel extremely blessed to have a husband that feels that I needed my own space to create.  My space has evolved since we moved in four years ago.  Of course like every crafter out there, I acquired a lot of product over that time and recently had to add some Ikea shelving and drawers and that cute cart to hold miscellaneous products that I'm currently using.  The project table is from Pottery Barn a few years ago and has lots of storage.  I've tried to come up with some creative, unique and practical ways to store or display my "goods".  I have an old bubble gum dispenser for antique buttons, a tool chest for stamps (and of course tools), and a fruit stand for my baker's twine and ink.  I have lots and lots of paper so I have it organized in different sections of my space.  My Stickles are displayed on the base of an old scale that I just fell in love with.  I collect old camera's which are also displayed around the room.  Of course what would a creative space be without a bathroom (at least a sink) so I don't have to go to far to clean up my creativity.  Even the striped paint in the room is fun!  Last but not least is a little area for my "four-legged children".  They are always joining me in my space.  Here is a glimpse of my crafting space, where I paint, scrap, sew and just enjoy!

Thanks for joining me today.  I'll be back next week to share with you some of my favorite current products and a few samples of how I used them!  Until then, I'd love to hear how you store and display your products!

30 Days 30 Cards ~ Day 7

Hello all! I hope you're all gathering some festive inspiration during these first 7 days!  Here's my card, which is based on this sketch from Sketch Support.  I used a Kraft card stock base, Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage 6x6" pad, Prima Flowes, Close To My Heart craft buttons, a sentiment die cut from my stash, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, sheer cream ribbon and Burlap String.  I also added some 'stitching' using my Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Picket Fence.

Get out your embossing folders & Sizzix Texture Boutique!  I used mine on the brown patterned paper to add some dimension with the embossed swirl design.  Notice the buttons?  They are clear craft buttons (CTMH), backed with the same Teresa Colins papers for some easy custom made embellishments.  Then, I iced them with a little Stickles.

Thank you for soaking up 30 Days of 30 Cards with us so far.  Stop back tomorrow for Day 8 with the talented Christine.

Stop by my blog today for some more close ups!
