Pelanggaran Hak Cipta: Yahoo! bayar ganti rugi dan kos

FIRMA Yahoo! Asia Pacific Pte Ltd telah membayar ganti rugi dan kos kepada Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) sebagai antara syarat penyelesaian berhubung satu kes pelanggaran hak cipta.
Yahoo! Asia Pacific, yang sebelum ini dikenali sebagai Yahoo! Southeast Asia Pte Ltd, mengaku telah menyiarkan semula kandungan berita daripada akhbar SPH tanpa kebenaran syarikat media itu menerusi laman web Yahoo! Singapore News.
Menurut satu kenyataan yang dikeluarkan kededua syarikat itu semalam, SPH dan Yahoo! Asia Pacific telah mencapai penyelesaian secara damai.

Singapore: A man, who filmed an upskirt video of a woman on an escalator, was jailed for two weeks on Monday. Edwin Tay Xing Yew, 25, had pleaded guilty to insulting the modesty of the 24-year-old woman on the escalator of Dhoby Ghaut MRT station on July 5 last year.

Singapore takes No. 2 spot for best taxi services in travel survey
Singapore came in second for best taxi services, cleanest streets, and safest streets, in a survey conducted by travel site TripAdvisor.
The Cities Survey by TripAdvisor looks at how travellers and locals view 40 key tourist cities in various categories, including best public transport, friendliest people, and friendliest taxi drivers.

The Jurong shipyard accident is "one of the worst accidents" in Singapore,
The Jurong shipyard accident which left 89 workers injured is "one of the worst accidents" in Singapore, said Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower Hawazi Daipi.
The Manpower Ministry, which has halted work at the rig, will conduct a thorough investigation. The incident is a reminder to employers that safety is of utmost importance, said Mr Hawazi who visited injured workers at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

Singapore: About 90 workers were injured when a jackup rig at Jurong Shipyard tilted to one side on Monday.
Among them, 22 were seriously injured and one is still in a critical condition. The rest suffered minor injuries.

Singapore: A FORMER teacher who had sex with a 15-year-old student from her own school was jailed for a year on Monday.
In passing sentence, District Judge Eugene Teo warned those who viewed schools "as acceptable venues for such illicit pursuits, and our students as acceptable partners in lust" will be found out, caught and made to pay the price.

Singapore sailors Rachel Lee and Cecilia Low beat 35 other boats to be crowned world champions of the 420 on Monday in Austria.
The pair, who also won the 2010 Asian Games gold in the same class, became the first team from Asia to win the ladies title.

Jasmine Ser fails to make 10m air rifle final

LONDON: Singapore shooter Jasmine Ser failed to make the final of the women's 10m air rifle event at the Olympics on Saturday morning.
She scored 394 out of 400 in the qualifying round, finishing 24th out of 56 shooters. A score of at least 397 was needed to make the final eight.

City Harvest Church ex-finance chief charged with 10 criminal charges

Singapore - City Harvest Church (CHC) ex-finance chief Serina Wee, 35, was charged on Wednesday morning with 10 criminal charges - six for criminal breach of trust and four for falsifying accounts - over her alleged role in siphoning church funds at City Harvest Church.
She is the 6th person charged in the alleged misuse of funds case. Bail for Wee was set at $500,000 while that for the other five, including founding pastor Kong Hee, had been extended.

Comparison of new salaries of Singapore politicians

The new salary structure recommended by the ministerial pay review committee headed by Gerard Ee has been accepted by the PAP Govt. The ministerial pay review report will be debated in Parliament later when it opens. The report is expected to breeze through the PAP dominated-Parliament without any changes.
So, how do the recommended new salaries (after pay cut) for our Singapore political leaders compare with salaries of the first world politicians? Tay Kok Hui, 40, had admitted to molesting the 33-year-old entertainer at a club in the River Valley area on Jan 6 last year.

Madam Ho is PM Lee's wife.
