FORT LAUDERDALE (Florida): Sebuah pesawat kecil terhempas di tempat meletak kereta dekat lapangan terbang South Florida petang kelmarin, membunuh tiga orang yang berada dalam pesawat itu dan menyebabkan lebih 10 kenderaan terbakar.
Ketua jabatan bomba, Encik John San Angelo, berkata pesawat jenis Piper Navajo, sebuah pesawat kecil dua enjin, mula mengalami kerosakan enjin sejurus berlepas daripada Lapangan Terbang Eksekutif Fort Lauderdale sekitar 4.30 petang kelmarin.

Dalam upacara di Tokyo dan di bandar-bandar gersang sepanjang kawasan pantai timur laut negara itu, mereka yang berkumpul tunduk dan bertafakur seketika bagi menandakan detik 2.46 petang pada 11 Mac 2011 apabila gempa sekuat 9.0 pada Skala Richter - yang terkuat dalam sejarah Jepun - melanda negara itu.

By Ida Lim - KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 — Putrajaya’s full show of military might on Tuesday against the Sulu militants in Sabah could be politically calculated to impress Malaysian voters ahead of Election 2013, a Manila-based paper has said.
In an editorial titled “Consequences”, the Philippine Daily Inquireryesterday noted that both the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and the federal opposition had attempted to outshine each other in pushing for tough action on the estimated 200-odd armed Filipinos that had intruded into Sabah’s east coast more than three weeks ago.

MANILA (AFP) - Heavy rain brought flooding fears in the north of the storm-battered Philippines as Typhoon Bopha returned on Sunday, days after slamming into the south of the country and leaving almost 1,400 dead or missing.

MANILA (AFP) - At least 325 people were killed and hundreds remain missing in the Philippines following the deadliest typhoon to hit the country this year, the civil defence chief said on Dec 6.
"We have 325 dead and this is expected to rise because many more are missing", civil defence chief Benito Ramos told a news conference.
He did not give a fresh total for the number of missing after Typhoon Bopha ravaged the southern island of Mindanao on Dec 4.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) - Four crew members died and seven were missing in the icy waters of the North Sea, after a cargo ship collided with another vessel and sank off the Dutch coast on Wednesday night, rescuers said.
"We can confirm that four bodies have been found, along with 13 people rescued alive," said Coast Guard spokesman Marcel Oldenburger.
He said a massive air and sea rescue operation involving several helicopters, two navy patrol ships and even one of the ships involved in the collision would continue through the night in an effort to find the remaining seven sailors.
Another Coast Guard spokesman, Mr Peter Verburg, said in the early hours of Thursday that the search was carrying on even though "the chance of finding anyone alive now is virtually zero." "We are doing all we can, but time is overtaking us," he said.

The Jurong shipyard accident which left 89 workers injured is "one of the worst accidents" in Singapore, said Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower Hawazi Daipi.
The Manpower Ministry, which has halted work at the rig, will conduct a thorough investigation. The incident is a reminder to employers that safety is of utmost importance, said Mr Hawazi who visited injured workers at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

Singapore: About 90 workers were injured when a jackup rig at Jurong Shipyard tilted to one side on Monday.
Among them, 22 were seriously injured and one is still in a critical condition. The rest suffered minor injuries.

Japan's Suzuki recalls over 100,000 Swifts worldwide

TOKYO (AFP) - Japan's Suzuki Motor said on Monday it will recall about 109,000 Swift subcompact cars worldwide, half of them in Japan, to repair a defect that may cause petrol leakage.
The cars were produced between September 2010 and last month with 55,146 of them shipped to the domestic market and 53,801 others exported outside the country, including Australia, Mexico, and Europe, a company spokesman said.
