Where's my snow?!?

The perky weather person on teevee promised me snow. Lots of snow. And the radar looks promising.

I should mention that we live just north of the 'e' and the 'C' on the 'Salt Lake City' part of the map.

In fact, I was planning to throw a big sleep-over with all my Sibe friends. I anticipated snow ball fights, snow person making contests, and general frolicking in the snow. Mom even brought up some wood so we could have a fire and sip hot-toddies. But what do I get?!?

Rain. Lots of rain.

And mud.

And Mom isn't too keen on Abby and me frolicking in the mud; something about how my darling little sister would end up as a giant mud ball. Hmm. I have no idea how that could ever happen.

So, while we can go outside independently, and maybe, if Mom can find some rain gear (sort of like reindeer, but, I'm told, totally different.), we'll go on a walk. But mostly, we'll amuse ourselves with indoor bitey-face, and staring longingly outside for snow...

While we're waiting for snow, go vote for my new name tag (on the upper right hand of this page)!!! Don't forget that the individual who submitted the winning tag line will get a donation to his/her favorite animal charity, so vote early and often!!!

Oh, and Mom seems to think her latest cross-stitch effort is funny. I think it's funny because she didn't specific WHICH doggie did it! Heehee!

Woof indeed!

Just a short update

Hi everyone!!! We had a Very Exciting Afternoon yesterday, but it was Super Top Secret, and Mom has Sworn Me to Secrecy, so I can't say anything yet. But I'll just say that it was Really Exciting!!!

But since I can't say anything about the Super Top Secret thing that happened yesterday, and it is raining like no one's business (we know who to blame, BTW, but I think that is also Super Top Secret!), we don't have anything interesting to say. Except that I should go back to building my ark...

I've already got my life jacket handy.

Abby apparently did NOT read the instructions that the vet gave her, and as such has completely ignored the part where she is supposed to engage in 'minimal activity' for two weeks. As if!!! She has been such a Monster that the vet actually gave Mom some pills to give Abby that are supposed to sedate her. So far, I'd say the pills only kind of work. In fact, I've told Mom that she might want to see if she can improve our driveway with something like this:

If you can't read it well, it says 'Cave Canem' - which is Latin for Beware of Dog. Even the people in ancient Pompeii must have known about Abby the Mutant Puppy Monster... We TOTALLY need one of these mosaics at the bottom of our driveway!

And speaking of the Evil Puppy Monster? She is approximately 50lbs now (so when the two of us are wrestling, you've got over 100lb of dog flying around the room - quite impressive, I think...). But somehow, the Evil Puppy Monster is able to flatten herself out in such a manner that she is able to get under the bed.

Getting out, however, is sometimes a bit more of an issue. When she's lazy, she'll just stay under the bed and bark until Mom pulls her out by her leggies. Personally, I think Abby should just stay under the bed permanently. I'm just saying....

So until something interesting happens around here, I'm just going to dream about running around and playing with my toy.

Rainy weather, and a vet visit

Alas, no hike today. It rained really hard yesterday afternoon and then again last night, so while it was only partly cloudy this morning, Mom said the trail would be really muddy. I didn’t see a problem with that, but apparently Mom said something about how she would have to remove the mud from my feet with a hose, and that didn’t sound too appealing.

Rain, rain, go AWAY!

Also, she and Dad had a business meeting, and by the time that was done, big dark clouds had started to move in. And besides, Mom had to take TaiChi to the eye doctor to do a check up.

So, on to TaiChi for a minute. She’s doing Really Well. She won’t ever see out of her right eye again, but since her cataracts (waterfalls? I didn’t know you could have waterfalls in your eyes, but apparently when you get old you get these waterfalls. Maybe your brain starts to leak? I didn’t think to ask) were so bad that she probably couldn’t see much more than shadows anyway. But her snooter works really well! She can smell a steak from a mile away! Heehee!

*ahem*

Okay, back to the doctor’s report. Her good eye is very good. She has more of these waterfall thingys in that eye, but it’s not horrible, and all of the other measurements they do on her eyes are Really Good in that eye. They also took her blood pressure because she had really high blood pressure when she first went to see the eye doctor, so they put her on blood pressure medicine. I guess TaiChi’s life is just super stressful! You know; sleeping, eating, sleeping some more – that can all be VERY stressful! Heehee. Note from Fi’s Mom: her high blood pressure is/was just a combination of old age and her chronic kidney issues; if you’ve got an OLD dog, it’s worth having your vet check his/her blood pressure, if they don’t already do it. It doesn’t take very long to do it, and can help prevent some pretty serious issues. In short, her blood pressure went from Super High a month ago to being almost normal; she was 190 a month ago and was 120 today. 100 is normal for dogs, and since she always gets stressed out at the vet’s office, her blood pressure is probably at least 10 points lower at home. She will stay on blood pressure medicine for the rest of her life, but since it gets delivered in a big dollop of peanut butter, she doesn’t mind! And since I get to lick Mom’s fingers after TaiChi gets her pill, I don’t mind, either!

So, TaiChi is doing Really Well and Mom and Dad are Very Happy about that. So is TaiChi. She clearly feels much better. Which is good, because I love my little big sister and she’s much more fun when she feels better!

Heh. We are such buddies. And she's just squinting because of the flashy thing - it's not a permanent thing.

Even if she steals my toys....

Because we had Fall-like weather today (rainy, and cold), Mom broke out TaiChi’s jacket. TaiChi gets cold fairly easily, and so she has a couple of jackets. Granny and Grandpa made her a really cool fleece jacket (that Mom can’t find a picture of at the moment…), and then she also has a heavier jacket with a hood.

I think she's quite sharp looking in her coat!

And because it was kind of dark out when Mom was taking the pictures, I got to display my Super Dog powers!

I can haz laser eyes!

And now, I must get back to catching up on bloggies. Because Mom has been slacking.

Raining Cats and Dogs

It has been raining So Much that I am beginning to explore alternate forms of transportation.

I’ve got it narrowed down to a couple of choices:

This one is good, but I’m not sure where I would park it when the floods finally subside.

I’m not so sure about this one, either, as it makes me look a little goofy. OhshutUP!

But I’m going to have to make a choice here soon, as it is supposed to rain for at least another 40 days and nights. *sigh*

At least it keeps the squirrels hidden away!
