Paperilla DT: Ystävänpäiväkortti / Valentine's Day card

Paperillassa kerättiin tällä viikolla ideoita ystävänpäiväksi. Käy kurkkimassa täältä kortti-ideoita ja inspiraatiota!

Käytin korteissa Craft Stamper -lehden tammikuun numeron mukana tullutta söpöä nalleleimaa. Nalle sai neljä sydänilmapalloa. Tein kaksi korttia tähän tyyliin.

This week in Paperilla we collected ideas for Valentine's Day. Visit here  for card ideas and inspiration!

I used the cute teddy bear stamp that came with January's issue of Craft Stamper. The teddy got four heart balloons. I made two cards with this style.

Seuraavaksi näytän muutaman kuvan korttien tekemisestä. Valitettavasti näissä kuvien laatu on huono. Askartelen mielelläni illalla ja valaistus on tosi huono (varsinkin näin talvella). Ja olen liian innokas jatkamaan, joten nämä on otettu nopeasti kännykällä. :)

Kokeilin nyt ensimmäistä kertaa taustalla pelkästään Brusho-väriä (eikä laittanut siis kuviopaperia alle ollenkaan). Päälle embossasin lisää tekstuuria palloleimalla ja valkoisella embossausjauheella. Tykkään kovasti Brushon jäljestä, joka tulee ihan sattumalta jonkinlaiseksi. Siihen oli sitten kiva laittaa jotain selkeää mukaan (tässä ympyröirä leimalla). :)

Next, I'll show a few pictures of how I made the cards. Unfortunately, the  quality of the pictures is a bit poor. I like to craft in the evening and then the lighting is quite bad (especially now in the winter). And I'm too eager to continue, so these are quickly taken with my phone. :)

 
For the first time I tried only Brusho colors in the background (so no pattern paper like I would otherwise have done). I embossed circles with a stamp and white embossing powder to add some texture. I like the Brusho style background, because you don't know how it will look like, when you make it. Then it's nice to put something more structured with it (here, the circles). :)

Löysin netin ihmeellisestä maailmasta hyvän ja helpon vinkin, miten Distress Ink -musteilla voi värittää kuvia. Mustetyyny painetaan (tässä tapauksessa) piirtoheitinkalvolle ja päälle suihkautetaan vähän vettä. Tadaa, vesiväri on valmis! :D

I found in the miraculous world of internet a great and easy tip how to use Distress Ink to color images. The ink pad is pressed (in this case) on a transparent overhead projector sheet and a little water is sprayed on top. Tadaa, the watercolor is ready! :D 

Leikkasin sydämet kartongista stanssilla ja värjäsin Distress Ink -musteella reunoja. Teippasin pienen langanpätkän taakse ja kohotarrapaloja. Olen huomannut, että tarkat pinsetit ovat tähän aika kätevät (missä pienet tarrat tarttuu muuten helposti sormiini). 

I cut the cardboard hearts with a die and dyed their edges with Distress Ink. I taped a small piece of yarn and 3D stickers behind them. I have noticed that precise tweezers are quite handy with this kind of work (where small stickers tend to get stuck on my fingers). 

Rullasin langanpätkiä vähän yhteen, jotta ne menevät samasta pisteestä ylös. Teippasin langat korttiin. Nalle sai alle myös muutamia kohotarroja ja sitten se meni lankojen päälle. Lopuksi leikkasin ylimääräiset langanpätkät pois. 

Ja näin kortti valmistui! :)

I wrapped the yarns a bit together, so that they start from the same point. I taped the yarns on the card. The teddy also got some 3D stickers and then it was glued on top of the tape. Finally, I cut the extra yarn off.
 

And so, the card was completed! :) 

 

Ystävänpäiväkortteja vanhuksille / Cards for elderly people

Osallistuin ennen ystävänpäivää Helsingin seniorisäätiön korttikeräykseen tekemällä neljä korttia. Pidän tällaisista korttikeräyksistä ja osallistun niihin mielelläni aina, kun pystyn! :)

Before Valentine's day I participated in a card collection for the elderly people. In Finland we celebrate Valentine's day as friend day, so these card wished exactly that: "Happy friend day!". The reason for the collection was that many of the elderly people living in elderly homes don't have any living friends anymore and the staff was hoping to give all of them a card. I loved the idea, so I participated! :)

 

Tämän kortin uudet jutut:

* Kiiltokuva (keräsin näitä pienempänä)

* Skräppipaperi ei peitä koko kartonkitaustaa (nyt reunat väritettiin ruskealla Distress Ink -musteella)

* Eriväristen paperiruusujen käyttö kuvan kehystämisessä

Halusin näissä korteissa myös haastaa itseni (pienesti) ja olla käyttämättä ollenkaan glitterliimaa. Sitä on niin helppoa ja ihanaa laittaa joka paikkaan, mutta nyt päätin kokeilla muita keinoja. Tässä kortissa lisäväriä ja-ulottuvuutta toi (yllämainittujen lisäksi) lanka kiiltokuvan alla.

New things on this card:

*  Gloss picture (I used to collect these when I was a child)

* The scrapbooking paper doesn't cover the whole cardboard (now the edges are colored with brown Distress Ink)

*Using different colored paper roses to frame the picture

I wanted to challenge myself also a bit with these cards and not use glitter. I love to use glitter, but now I wanted to give extra color and dimension differently. Here I did that with yarn.

Glitterin sijasta laitoin nastoja, mutta loppujen lopuksi kortti olisi ollut ehkä kivampi ilman niitä. Mutta se oli jo liian myöhäistä, koska nastat olivat jo kiinni. :) Lisäväriä toi myös itsetehty nappi.

New things on this card:

* Gloss picture of animals 

* Pins

Instead of glitter I used pins, but I'm not completely happy with the result. But it's too late now. :) More color was also added with a self-made button.

Neljännen kortin uudet jutut:

* Sydännastat

* Vaaaaanhojen valmiiksi leikattujen kangaskukkien käyttäminen

Kortista tuli ehkä enemmän "trashion"-tyylinen kuin olisin toivonut. Tulipahan testattua sekin! :)

The card ended up being more "trashion" then I thought. But tested that now, too! :)

Ystävänpäiväkortti sydännuolilla / Valentine's day card with love arrows

Tein poikaystävälle erityisen ystävänpäiväkortin, jossa oli kirjekuori sydännuolilla. Sain idean, kun näin "deittinuolet" Mollie makes -käsityölehdessä (taitavat olla samat kuin nämä). Alun perin näihinkin nuoliin oli tarkoitus tulla vastaavanlaiset roikkuvat lappuset, mutta ne olisivat menneet pienessä kirjekuoressa vain sekaisin, joten jätin ne loppujen lopuksi pois.

I made a special Valentine's day card for my boyfriend. I got the idea for the arrows from the "date arrows" I saw in the Mollie makes magazine (I think they are the same as these). Originally I was thinking of putting some hanging text signs to the arrows as well, but the strings would just have gotten tangled inside the small envelope. 

Uudet jutut / New things:
* Jotain "irrotettavaa" / something "detachable"

Sydännuolet on tehty hammastikuista, joihin on liimattu sopivan kokoiset sydämet ja hapsut (teipin avustuksella). Hapsuja on vanhennettu Distress Inkillä (brushed cordoroy -väri), jota on muuallakin kortissa.

The love arrows are made out of tooth picks. I cut proper sized hearts and fringes for the arrow and glued them on (with a little help of tape). The fringes were touched with a bit of Distress Ink (brushed cordoroy) like some other parts of the card as well.

Tältä kortti näyttää ilman nuolia. Toki kirjekuoreeseen olisi voinut laittaa kivan viestinkin (hmm, idea ensi vuodeksi?!).

This is how the card looks like without the arrows. The envelope could also have had a nice message in it (hmm, idea for next year?!).

En voinut julkistaa tätä korttia viime viikolla, koska muuten yllätys olisi voinut mennä pilalle. Ja hyvänä yllätyksenä kortti pysyikin! :)

I couldn't publish this card last week, because it was supposed to be a surprise. And a great surprise it was! :)

Teekuppikirjanmerkkejä / Tea cup bookmarks

Joskus on kiva antaa ystävänpäiväksi jotain muuta kuin kortti. Tein tänä vuonna teekuppikirjanmerkkejä. Ne sopivat oikein hyvin sellaisille ihmisille, jotka pitävät teestä ja lukemisesta (nämä kulkevat usein käsi kädessä) - mutta ei välttämättä tarvitse tykätä, että tykkää näistä! :)

Sometimes it's nice to give something else than a card for Valentine's day. I made teacup bookmarks this year. They are perfect for people who love tea and books (which comes often hand in hand) - but it's not necessary! :)

Kupin reunoissa on Distress Ink -mustetta ja paperin päälle liimasin pitsiteippiä. Sydämissä lukee "You are my cup of tea" ja "For my sweetea" (jotka kääntyvät huonosti suomeksi). Narun päässä on myös sydän. Siksi nämä on hyviä ystävänpäivänä. Voihan sydämen sijaan laittaa jotain ihan muutakin. :)

There's Distress Ink on the teacup edges and some lace tape on the paper. In the hearts it says "You are my cup of tea" and "For my sweetea". There's also a heart at the end of the yarn. That's why they're nice for Valentine's day, but they can also be made without any hearts if wanted. :)

In Finland we celebrate Valentine's day as "friend's day" (ystävänpäivä in Finnish), which means that we give cards and/or presents for our friends and not only for our boy/girlfriends like in many other countries.

Toinen tekstisydän oli kohotettu ja toinen ei. Kirjanmerkki toimii molemmin tavoin (ehkä paremmin ilman kohotusta). Glitteriä en voinut laittaa (mitä yleensä tykkään laittaa), koska se voisi muuten päätyä kirjan sivujen väliin, eikä se kuulemma ole toivottavaa. :)

The other heart is lifted up with tape ad the other one isn't. As a bookmark the latter one probably works better. I couldn't put glitter (which I loooove ti put otherwise), because it could go between the book and that was not at all wanted. :)

Kuvassa on mallina dekkari, koska sellaisia tykkään tällä hetkellä eniten lukea. :)

There's a crime story as a model, because at the moment I love to read them. :)

VINKKI: Minulla ei ollut teekuppistanssia (sellaisia on kyllä olemassa) ja siksi otin vähän mallia netistä. Otin koneen ruudulle sopivan kokoisen ja näköisen teekupin ja asetin ruudun päälle valoisen paperin, jonka läpi kuva näkyy. Sitten piirsin hyvin varovasti lyijykynällä kupin ääriviivat. Sitten leikkasin paperin ja käytin sitä mallina oikeisiin kirjanmerkkeihin. Toimii! :)

TIP: I don't own a teacup die (they exist though), so I modeled a bit from the Internet. I zoomed the picture on the screen to the size I wanted and put a white paper on the screen. I could see the teacup through the paper and with a pencil drew carefully the outline of the cup on the paper. Then I cut the cup and used it as a model for the real bookmarks. It works! :)
