Latvijas Republika
04 May 1990 was the proclamation of Latvia's independence from Russia. They are among the countries governed by the former USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). You can still see a lot of Russian influence as of today, even though most Latvians try to establish a true Latvian culture of their own.
Latvia is a very nice European country. It is old but so rich in history. You can see it from the vast structures of the country's architectural sites. I was amazed at how beautiful this place is! Wait till you see the countryside, it is simply astonishing! I feel lucky being here. I just don't like their extreme winter condition! It's bearable though, not as bad as what I have expected. Hoping we'll stay here a bit longer.
Latvia is having a 5-days holiday since Thursday, May 01 till today. Those 5 days had been a lazy 5 days for us! Though we went out last Saturday and yesterday. If Hubby is here, we'll probably be cozying up somewhere!
Tyn, Kaiden and I went to the Old Town yesterday to hear Mass and to just enjoy the beautiful day. There were Independence Day celebrations everywhere! We have never seen the Old Town be thronged with such crowd! It was nice though, seeing a lot of different people around. We walked all over the Old Town and at the parks.
The weather did played up a bit yesterday. Rained. Stopped. Rained. Stopped. Rained. And finally, it stopped. So we just went to have cup of tea at our favorite tree/tea house. Here are the result of our camwhoring there . . .
We wanted to stay longer to witness the fireworks, but Kaiden was tired from walking and playing the whole afternoon so we went home by around 1900H.
I planned to post this last night but our internet connection just mysteriously went kaput! Tyn and I tried to fix it but to no avail. We didn't know what went wrong. I gave up after 4 hours of trying! I honestly prayed for it when I went to bed last night! Was so thankful that it's working now! So thanks!
Gorgeously . . .
