Roadsides and Lemons

Dear Mr. Jenny,

Not only did I make your favorite layered lemon dessert to celebrate your birthday...

I marked many of the freeway signs in honor of your age!

You...

My fella.

Are an amazing man.

I am proud to be your best friend...

...and even prouder to be your wife.

You.

Are.

Neat.

A is for Adorable

Our Grandlittles live in Ireland now.

Yeah.

I am sooooo not talking about it.

They are far, far, far away.

Far.

Far.

FARRRRRRRRR.

Away.

That particular fact is soooo NOT adorable.

However.

This little story is.

I decided to make Mo, the youngest one, a nightgown.

She informed me on face-time recently that the last one I made her was getting small.

I told her it wasn't the nightgown getting small...it was her getting big.

GULP.

(did I mention they live far, far, far away now...sniff, sniff)

I told her I would make her a new nightgown.

I asked her Mom for measurements.

She started texting some my way.  Waist.   Belly.  Length.

Then I got a text that read:

3"

Hmmm.

"Three inches?"  I wondered to myself.

What could possibly measure 3"?

I sent a text back for clarification.

"Smile is 3 inches..." was the text reply from our daughter-in-law...

"When she thinks of you."

A three inch smile when she thinks of her Grandma?

Awwww.

Awwwww.

See?

I told you it was adorable.

Alphabe-Thursday Letter A

Good morning class. Welcome to round NINE of Alphabe-Thursday!

Here we go again!

Medical testing continues.   I have a pretty large test on Thursday of this week that I'm kinda/sorta nervous about.

My goal is to actually read all the A's this week.

And to put up an A post.

Gosh.

That seems like such a big goal, but I wrote it on a sticky note and stuck it on my computer screen so I'm going to try very hard to accomplish it!

Today we will be sharing all aspects of the letter:

Please link directly to your Alphabe-Thursday URL (if you don't know how to do this let me know!) and please continue to visit the five links before and after your link and leave a comment. Minimum of 10 links visited please. You can visit more if you like, of course.

If you have any difficulties with your link, please make sure to include the number of the link when you e-mail me. It is really difficult for me to find you easily otherwise.

If you have any questions about Alphabe-Thursday or problems doing your link just post it in a comment or send me an e-mail. I'll do my best to help you as quickly as I can.

I also want to mention that sometimes when I visit wordpress blogs the only way I can leave a comment is by using an e-mail address DIFFERENT than the one I have linked to blogger.  If you see odd e-mail address that's why I'm doing it.

The McLinkey will be live from 1:00 pm MST time Wednesday afternoon in an effort to assist our lovely "friends across the pond" and continue through 10:00 am MST time Friday morning!

And remember.... link back to this post, you need to be registered as a follower of my blog, PG posts only, and try to visit at least 10 other students (perhaps the 5 students before and after your post). The links will stay live after the final post deadline has passed so you can even wait and visit over the weekend or whenever you have more time.

Please advise us what your A post is, by linking now:

Alphabe-Thursday Letter Z

Good morning class.

Welcome to the end of round eight of Alphabe-Thursday! Today we will be studying the zippy letter:

...but before we do please

I have something important to tell you.

As you know, I've been pretty ill.   No answers yet and I will actually update you all in a post later this week.

Based on your e-mails, I think you all like our little Alphabe-community so I will just continue for the next round.

I'm hoping to be able to participate this next round.

I have a thought of a theme and if I can just get the pain management under control a little better I think I can do it.

I appreciate your understanding that I can't visit much!

I will when I can!

Often I read your links but if my hands are bad, it's difficult to write a comment to you!

Let's try it again, if you're game.

And, if you're not, thanks for participating.  You've been fabulous!

Everything else is still the same!

Please link directly to your Alphabe-Thursday URL (if you don't know how to do this let me know!) and please continue to visit the five links before and after your link and leave a comment. Minimum of 10 links visited please. You can visit more if you like, of course, and please try very hard to visit the blogs that visit you for this meme.

If you have any difficulties with your link, please make sure to include the number of the link when you e-mail me. It is really difficult for me to find your link otherwise. And, if you see any broken links, please let me know that as well.

If you have any questions about Alphabe-Thursday or problems doing your link just post it in a comment or send me an e-mail. I'll do my best to help you as quickly as I can.

The McLinkey will be live from 1:00 pm MST time Wednesday afternoon in an effort to assist our lovely "friends across the pond" and continue through 10:00 am MST time Friday morning!

And remember.... link back to this post, you need to be registered as a follower of my blog, PG posts only, and you must visit at least 10 other posts...perhaps consider starting from the last posts and work backwards. The links will stay live after the final post deadline has passed so you can even wait and visit over the weekend or whenever you have more time.

I refuse to be faceless...

I refuse to have yet another doctor look at me like I'm a blood test...

...or a lab result...

...or an enigma of a lab result.

It seems like the higher level the specialist I see, the less interest they have in human interaction.

After a cursory 'hello' they lower their eyes to the computer screen and start spouting off anomalies or the lack thereof.

I sit on the crinkly paper and kick my heels against the exam table trying to make sense of it all.

I look at Mr. Jenny, who accompanies me to these appointments, and see his frustration.

And...

well...

I've had enough.

Last week I found a picture of me from four months ago and put it on my phone.

Last week when the specialist looked at their computer screen instead of even glancing at me I said...

...quietly...

...but firmly...

"Excuse me.   May I show you something?"

Before the doc could answer, I opened my phone to my picture.

"This is me.  Four months ago.  Four.  Months.  Ago."

He looked at the picture and looked at me.

Several times.

Back and forth.

"Yes.   This is me.   And I'm here for help.  Can you help me?"

He slowed down.

He explained more.

I actually felt like a human being instead of a lab rat.

It was quite empowering.

I wasn't rude.   I can understand how busy these doctors are.  I can understand how much pressure they have to see a million patients in 5.3 days.

I understand.

I do.

Really.

But...

We're not done with this testing/specialist phase of the chronic illness journey yet.  I keep thinking we should be out of 'ologists' soon, but there sure seems to be a bunch.

And while it's great to have so many resources...

And while it's great to know what's NOT wrong with me...

And while  I'm still hopeful they will tell me what IS wrong and help fix it.

I must continue through the process...

But I will not continue to do it invisibly.

I will do my best to make them see ME and MY symptoms and the woman I was only a few short months ago.

I will share my picture along with my plea.

And maybe, just maybe, one of them will find out what's happening.

This chronic illness does not hesitate to make itself known!

I am not going to hesitate to make myself known to these doctors.

Yeah, man!

I'm pretty sure a faceless person can't make much noise.

So!

Hear me ROAR!

ROAR!

Oh.

Wow.

That was loud.

Blush.

Do you see the speck of me?

Laying here in the field?
Back pressed against the prickles of grass?
Earth rotation pulling me down?

Do you see the speck of me?
Wherever you are?
Somewhere in the universe?
Heaven?
The great beyond?

Do you see the speck of me?

I close my eyes.
I feel you pull me along with gravity.
I feel my heart push closer to the earth.
And I miss you.
Laying here in the field.

With my back pressed against the prickles of grass.

Do you see the same sky I see?
Somewhere in the universe?
Somewhere in heaven or the great beyond?

Do you see the speck of me?
Laying here in the spring sunshine?
And I miss you.
