Rockin' & Foxin'

Hi there!  I had a bit of time in the Craft Cave this morning and made two cards.  This first card uses the palette from ColourQ and the sketch from Paper Smooches Sparks.  This jukebox is from an older PS set and I still love it.  I paper pieced it, gave it an orange glow and popped it up on foam tape.  I originally had the sentiment stamped on the green panel but it looked a little flat so I stamped it on yellow and popped that up too.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Jukebox & small notes from Perpetual Bliss, Sentiment & large notes from BeBoppin) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card for The Card Concept and I'd put it into the Clean and Layered category.  I used some new (to me) goodies from Lil' Inker Designs for this one.  How adorable is that fox?  It came together really quickly and I even used a scrap of patterned paper.  Whoop whoop!  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Hope you all have a good weekend.  We're keeping an eye on Hurricane Joaquin.  It should be passing by us on Sunday evening but not sure how close or how strong it will be at this point.  I'll let you know next week!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Tangelo Twist, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Hey Girl 6x6) Basic Grey
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Hey Foxy) Lil' Inker Designs
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Die:  (Hey Foxy) Lil' Inker Designs

Back to the Craft Cave

Hi there.  It feels like it's been ages since I've been here.  I was down and out for most of the week with a sinus infection.  Note to self:  Next time you think you might have a sinus infection do not wait until the earache sets in before going to the doctor.  Not fun…

Today is the first day I've been in the Craft Cave since last Wednesday.  Luis was painting the kitchen (my offer to help was declined) so I had a good chunk of time to get crafty.  My first card is for the PS Sparks Picture Perfect challenge.  I embossed some borders from Tri-balation and then played with the smooshing watercolor technique.  The sentiment circle was made by layering the same colour three times while drying between each layer.  I think I like that part better than the background!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Ranger, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Triangles from Tri-balation, Sentiment from Word Salad) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Punches:  (1 1/4" circle) EK Success, (2" & 2 1/2" circles) Marvy Uchida
Paint:  (Watercolours) Loew Cornell
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card using the colour combo at The Challenge and the Anything Goes theme at Seize the Birthday.  I ran this Lil Inker die through my Cuttlebug with 5 different colours and then pieced it all together and layered a vellum sentiment on top.  I wanted to do this with glitter paper but my DCWV glitter paper really doesn't cut very well - I think because of the coated paper on the back side of it.  I tried it with a metal shim but still had to go over most of the cut lines with my craft knife and that just got too messy.  If anyone has any suggestions or tips for die cutting that stuff I'd love to hear them!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Blushing Bride, Real Red, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Vellum) Strathmore
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Birthday Bash) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Clear) Ranger
Dies:  (Faceted Cover Up) Lil Inker Designs
Gems:  Recollections

My final card uses the inspiration photo at The Card Concept and the Die Crazy theme at the Simon Says Wednesday challenge.  I think the inspiration is pretty obvious (flowers, colours) and I'd put my card into the Clean and Simple category for the Card Concept.  The vases and flowers are all die cuts.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Smokey Slate, Basic Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Birthday Greetings) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Die-namics Flower Trio) My Favourite Things, (Mega Gracious Vases) Papertrey Ink
Punches:  (1/4" & 5/16" hole punches) McGill
Glitter:  (Yellow Stickles) Ranger

Fintastic Birthday

I had some time to spend in the Craft Cave yesterday and decided to practice my watercolouring a bit more.  I kept it pretty simple - my main goal is to get colour onto the paper without it pilling or just generally looking a mess.  I embossed the Hero Arts background with white ep and then used Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to watercolour the sea.  I'm pretty pleased with how this one came out and am finally feeling like I'm making a bit of progress.  I'm hoping to eventually get brave enough to try no line watercolouring but for now I'm just happy with a decent wash!  I'm going to enter this at the Time Out Make Your Mark challenge, the Addicted to Stamps Anything Goes challenge and the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge.  I'm hoping to get some more play time today and maybe have something else to share later.  Have a good day!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Watercolour) Tim Holtz, (Tangelo Twist, So Saffron, Wisteria Wonder, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Fish & Fintastic from Briny Blue) Paper Smooches, (Have A from Critters in the Sea, Birthday from Critters Down Under) Lawn Fawn, (Background) Hero Arts
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Peacock Feathers Distress Ink) Ranger
Embossing Powder:  (Seafoam White) Ranger

Thanks, Teacher

Hello there!  I'm popping in with a last minute card for the Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect challenge.  I pulled out this apple from one of the first PS releases and paper pieced it with Studio Calico papers.  For the sentiment I tried to use the chalkboard technique to go along with the school theme.  It looks okay in real life but in the photo the chalky look isn't very clear.  I guess next time I need to smudge a bit more white ink on it.  I'm also going to enter this in the Addicted to CAS School challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (South of Market, Classic Calico) Studio Calico
Stamps:  (Apple from Falling for You, sentiment from Smarty Pants, speech bubble from He Said, She Said) Paper Smooches

Back in Action!

Hello hello!  We are back on the rock after a fabulous vacation in Vermont and New Hampshire.  We rented a gorgeous house out in the woods that was so peaceful - it was tough to leave it.  Sadly reality was calling and it's back to regular life now.

I actually managed to get some cards made today. Usually it take me ages to get back into the card making groove when I've been away from it for a while but today felt pretty good.  First up is a card for the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge.  This came together fairly quickly as it's just simple paper piecing.  I love that laughing moon - he just makes me happy.  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Cosmos) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card for the AEIHeartU Sparkle challenge and the Simon Says Sparkle and Shine challenge.  I used the little balloon die from AE's Icon Fill in the Blank and the sentiment is from Storybook.  I also made a version with blue balloons.  Gotta cover all the bases and I know my little card stand at the animal hospital is in desperate need of restocking so I need to make as many cards as possible this weekend.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Pink glitter) DCWV, (Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Storybook) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Clear Super Fine Detail) Ranger
Die:  (Icon Fill in the Blank) Avery Elle

Last but not least is a card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes challenge.  I used a little strip of this adorable Jillibean Soup paper on the side and paper pieced the Amy Tangerine camera which I love and is one of the few stamps that has gotten more than one inking. The sentiment is a combo of Mama Elephant stamps.  That's it for tonight.  I'll post the rest of the cards tomorrow!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) PaperTrey Ink, (Riding Hood Red, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Sightseeing Stew 6x6) Jillibean Soup
Stamps:  (Camera from Aspire) Amy Tangerine, (Smile from Flashy Letters, Sentiment from Say What) Mama Elephant

CASology #154

Welcome to Week 154 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This week's cue word leaves the door wide open for lots of interpretation and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.  I inked a strip with Spun Sugar Distress Ink, stamped a little Paper Smooches candy repeatedly and then covered them with different coloured Stickles.  Sweet, glittery goodness!  Be sure to go and check out all the awesome inspiration from the design team and then play along!

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that the deadline for
entries is Monday at noon (CST).

You Anchor Me

Hi there!  Just a quick post today.  This card was inspired by the photo and colours of the Fusion challenge.  Initially I planned to use just the negative of the anchor die cut but it didn't look quite right so I inlaid a yellow anchor which made it feel more complete. Since the dies and sentiment are from Paper Smooches I'm also going to enter this into the PS Sparks Anything Goes challenge.  That's it from me.  Have a lovely weekend!

Cardstock:  (Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, Midnight Muse) Stampin' Up

Hello Love Party

***This is my second post of the day.  For my CASology post please scroll down or

I've got 3 cards for 6 challenges to share this afternoon and most of them are pretty last minute so I'm going to get right to it!

First up is an entry for the washi tape challenge at The Male Room, the Simon Says Wednesday masculine challenge and the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge. I broke out some NBUS Stampin' Up washi tape to use for the sea because the scalloped pattern on it reminded me of waves.  Then I paper pieced and popped up a Paper Smooches sail boat on top of it, added a sentiment and done!  A super simple CAS card!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sailboat & sentiment from Wicked Nauticool) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Washi Tape:  Stampin' Up

Next up is a card using the Curtain Call inspiration photo and the Just Us Girls word prompt - summer.  I took the colours from the beach balls and the summer theme and came up with this little love card.  These Lawn Fawn bathing suits stamp are some of my oldest and also my favourites. They're just so cute!  The background paper is hard to see but there are tiny waves on it.  It's from studio Calico's Atlantic 6x6.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Real Red) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Yellow from Let's Polka, Navy from Pint-Sized Patterns Beachside) Lawn Fawn, (Waves from Atlantic 6x6) Studio Calico
Stamps:  (Bathing suits from Swimsuit Season, Heart from Happy Everything) Lawn Fawn, (Sentiment from Perfect Match) Sweet Stamp Shop
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko

Last but not least is a card for the Just Add Ink inspiration image challenge.  I immediately thought of this Papertrey Ink die and was excited to finally put it to work.  I added Wink of Stella to the balloons so they are shimmery as well as the gold background. Sparkles all around!  Okay that's it for me.  Time to head back to work.  Hope you're all having a lovely day!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Brushed Gold) Stampin' Up
Dies:  Papertrey Ink
Glitter:  (clear Wink of Stella) Zig
