Merry Christmas door hanger with Tando : Anything goes with Tando

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Welcome to my Anything goes weekly project here on Tando  blog.
I made the fancy, shabby style Christmas door hanger.

This Tando door hanger was covered with DecoArt Media line paints and mediums over the texture paste
masked snowflakes images (mostly seen on the handle on the top).
Large grid chipboard piece was painted with gesso and some crackle paste and added as the middle layer .
Then the embellishment cluster was made from cardstock, flowers, clay frame and metal trinket.

I also enter this project to some web challenges:

Scrapmatts tag

This fancy bright altered tag was made with texture background made with Scrapmatts stencil and texture paste and them painted over with liquid acrylic paints.
Each chipboard piece was painted with black actylic paint and glued over the tag.
The sentiment is from Prickley Pear Rubber stamps.

Let me show you the texture from the side of the tag:

And now to some close- ups of the project:

I enter this to Simon Says Stencil it challenge- the background was made with double stencil

Back to school with Makin's Clay - MINI notebook cover

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new Makin's Clay tutorial!
August is a Back to School month and  I decided to use some Makin's Clay techniques to make the mini notebook clay cover. I thought that I never made anything in those trendy aqua and pink colors and with a small add- ons of black and gold it may become the next trendy thing.
 So here we go!
1. Add a few drops of acrylic paint to half a package of  Makin’s Clay® white and mix it . On this photo you see the Primary Magenta actylic before the mixing. You can see the perfect pink on one of the next photos.

2.This is a mix already made with White Makin's Clay and Cobalt teal actylic. I used Makin’s Professional® Ultimate Clay Machine® on setting 4 to make the clay sheets for this project.

3. Now cut the stright piece using Makin's Clay cutting tool from Makin’s Professional®Roller and Cutters set® . Cut it into two equal parts to make the front and the back of the notebook cover. Now let it dry over night.

5.Use any good hole maker to make three holes on the top of each half and if you wish add eyelets into the holes.
Makin's Clay is easy to use with any hole maker and eyelet setter as it's light weight and flexible when dry.

6. Now use any good heavy duty corner rounder to round the low corners on both front and back covers.
Again, any good corner rounder will do the work because of the clay qualities.
Our covers are done and now we move to the embellishment  part of it.

7.Use pink wet mixed clay and Makin's Clay® Texture sheet set H to make the front cover main matting piece.
Roll over the texture plate with a roller from Makin’s Professional®Roller and Cutters set® .
Let it dry before you try to use the textured piece.

8. Due cut a small stitched rectange using the left over  aqua dry clay sheet and a die.

9. Use Makin's Clay Push mold  and Makin’s Clay® black to make a  border piece for the embellishment cluster.
Also the photo shows the leaves border, finally, due the small space I made the rope one and used it on the finished project.

10. Use other molds to make some flowers and leaves. I mostly made black ones and just one single pink for the contrast.
Let the molded pieces dry and then take them of the molds.

11. And this is a close up to the finished cluster.
The textured pink piece was hand torn and edges were covered with gold actylic.
The aqua die cut rectangle was added over the pink textured matting.
All black and one pink flowers and leaves were gold painted on the top and arranged into one big fancy cluster.
The push mold rope was added on the bottom and I also added one molded bow to finish this notebook.

And now to the final project photos (no paper is inside the notebook yet as I need to cut  it to fit the covers).

Words are toxic tag with TANDO Metal week

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my Metal week post made for Tando blog.
This week our designers are going to show you all things metal. But actually those are mostly faux metals and as you can see nothing on this tag is made of metal, but of chipboards, paints, texture pastes etc.

I used two Tando stencils to make the backgrounds.
The lower one is Splatters mini mask.. The upper one is Giraffe mini mask . Both were applied with DecoArt modelling paste and then painted with DecoArt Media line Fluid acrylics. Those mini masks are just perfect for tags and small crafts!
The Pen and Ink  chipboards were painted with the same acrylics and then I added some stamped images using Andy Skinner Stampendous stamp sets called Toxic.
I had a  couple of words on those stamp sets and added a couple with stickers.
All stamped images were painted over with Gold DecoArt paint and it sure looks like a shiny metal.
I think that the saying is the most important: yes, words can be TOXIC! So watch your words and think before you say something that is not very nice.

Products used:

DecoArt Media line fluid acrylics
DecoArt white Modelling paste
Toxic stamp set
Giraffe mini mask
Splatters mini mask
Pen and Ink chipboards

Makin's Clay tutorial:Mermade Clay Frame

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my July Makin's Clay tutorial.
Summer is here and this is a toally summer project made today- easy to follow and almost anyone with a basic skills and Makin's Clay products can make it in just an hour (without counting the drying time).
I made the clay frame to frame my own art stamped piece (no tutorial for the stamping or making Mixed Media art here). I made this Mermade piece with Stampendous stamp, Tattered Angels mists and paints, heat embossing and it was bare.
I had to add something to make it more artistic and the clay frame was my first choise.
So here is a tutorial for the frame and you sure can frame any sea sna sand piece of art, but this frame was made over the art piece that was larger than the finished seen one.

1. Roll the whole package of White Makin's Clay with Makin's Clay Roller from the Roller and Cutter set over Makin's Clay Large Cutting Mat.

2. When the clay is flattened to the siZe that fits the art piece to be framed use the usual metal ruler and Makin's Clay Cutter to cut 4 equal pieces that will make the frame.

3. Arrange all 4 cut pieces to make a kind of a frame over the art piece. Don't try to make it pretty and stright. We will do this step later.

4. Make the waves texture using Makin's Clay roller over the Curly Beard texture sheet  from Texture Sheet set E.  Dont' try to make stright lines of your frame yet. It will be done during the next step.

5. Now take you cutter again and cut the left overs from the outside and inside the frame as shown.

6. While your frame is drying make sea shells  and other sea creatures with Sea shells  Push mold  and white clay.
I made a bit more than one of each piece, but didn't use  them all on my final project.

7. Paint your dry  clay shells with a mix of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam (this is a glittery watery kind of a paint and leaves a lot of surface non painted, but that was what I wanted). Let the paint dry.

8. Paint the textured frame with a mix of Tattered Angels High Impact paints and a bit of Glimmer Glam  and let it dry.

9. Arrange the painted clay shells over the frame corner  and add a few pearl beads around and inside the frame.
And this is how my finished project looks!
Hope you enjoyed my small clay tutorial and see you again next month!

Makin's Clay Love project

Hello my dear crafty friends! Irit is here with my very first project  in 2016. January is a perfect moth to make projects for  Valentines. Yes, Valentines is  in February, but then you need time, so here is a small clay projects that is easy to make and fancy to give.As  young kids we all believed in this fairy tales love stories. So I connected hearts with a fairy image and made my own Love figurine.
Say " Hello" to my Fairy heart figurine.

Step by step  tutorial:
1. Use a full 120 gr. package of Red Makin's Clay.Roll it with Makin's  roller tool  from Roller and Cutter set to the 1/4'' sheet of clay. Cut the  flat clay sheet to a few pieces to fit your cutters using the cutter from Makin's Professional Clay Tools set.  Pick you Makin's Heart shaped cutters and find some bigger heart shaped cutters in your stash. The simple ones from the baking shop will do the job (also I never used them for baking ). Cut the largest heart, the second size heart and the 2 smaller using Makin's cutters.Use

2. Pick three Makin's  Texture  sheets and  roll  over the cut hearts with the roller. I used the following textures, but you sure can pick your favorites.Let the embossed hearts dry for a couple of hours before we add the glaze over them: Lace from Set C; Diamond from set E and Curly Beard from set E.

3. Cover each one of 4 large hearts with any kind of a glaze you have. I used the one on the photo, but it;s just because I own it.  Adhere the hearts as shown - you can use glaze to do it, but  glue is much better. Let it dry  for 24 hours to be sure the clay is totally set and dry.

4. In the meantime cut 6 small hearts with the smallest Makin's Clay Heart shaped cutter. Arrange all 6 hearts and shown and cover them with glaze.

5. Cut the smallest hand with Makin's Hand cutter and Paisley shaped cutter.  I made each  hand with 2 clay cuts adhered one over another. The drops made my feet shapes, again I glued two cuts one over another. Cover them with glaze.

6. And now to the finished project. I made the base of my figurine  from the flower shaped hearts.
Glue " feet"  over the base. Glued hands over the hearts' shape. Then I made a fairy using Makin's White clay and some craft store mold; covered it with glaze and a layer of Fairy dust glitter (not seen much on the photo, sorry about it).

And a bigger photo of the finished project:

I hope you liked my Valentine's project and see you next month with another one. Hint- it's all about being Lucky.

Happy Halloween jewelry with Makin's Clay

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to Makin's Clay Halloween month!
Let me first say that I don't celebrate this holiday, but I sure love it.
I love the colors, the images and the overall feeling of those ghosts, bats and pumpkins and I like them so much that I create a lot of projects using those images even without any tight connection to the main meaning of  Halloween.
So for this post I decided to  make a fancy scary necklace and those are the steps to make the very similar one if you like mine.

1. Using your Makin's  Ultimate Clay  Extruder and the disk with 5 round holes make 5 long  round strips from Makin's black Clay. For now let them all  air dry a bit and move to the second step.

2. With Makin's Clay Roller make a flat piece from black Makin's Clay (about 1/8'' thick). Make the texture with Brick and Waves texture sheet from Makin's Clay Texture set C. Now make a pendant shape with Makin's Clay cutter and I made it free hand. You sure can change the shape to more triangular or circular one if you like it more that way. Roll the  top of your hand cut shape to the back before it's dry and try to leave a space inside the rolled back to insert  your clay strings later. Now let it dry for a couple of hours and move to the next step.

3. Use Halloween B cutters set with another texture sheet from the very same set  over the black clay sheet and cut some Halloween shapes. Cut a couple of ghosts from white Makin's clay.
I wasn't sure if I want black or white shapes over my necklace, so I made these and those and as I finally  used the white ghosts I used the left overs for another project. I only used one black bat on the top of the pendant later.

4.  Roll all 5 round strings  together and cover them with a mix of shiny pigments.
I used Pearl Ex ones, but you can try any pigments you own.
Cover the ghost with a thin layer of liquid resin /glaze and add some clear glitter and let it dry. Add a simple magnetic closure to the back with good jewelry glue.
My tip: buy a cheap $1 store  jewelry piece with magnetic closure (bracelets usually cost around $1)  just to use their closure as at least here, in Israel, the closure only costs more than $1 for a piece.
Arrange your fancy scary necklace as seen  and enjoy!
