5 Foods Every Woman Should Eat More

Here are the five foods every woman should eat:
1. broccoli
2. onions
3. leafy greens (especially kale, spinach, watercress, arugula, cabbage, turnip and collard greens)
4. beans (We already knew they were good for your heart!)
5. wild salmon

To find out why and some recipes, click HERE.

Obviously this PSA wasn't brought to you by Lindt, Godiva, Hershey's, nor Nestles. Chocolate should definitely be on the list! I can eat all of the first four, but that last one, blech!

HAPPY 2010!

{Scroll down if you're looking for- or are interested in- the blog hop!)

We wish you the very best in 2010!!!!

Do you make resolutions? If so, what are yours this year? I plan to work harder to organize our home. As we grow and change, what used to work doesn't any more, and some things never worked at all! LOL (We WILL get Macey moved into her own room this year!) I also want to find better balance while focusing more on my health and wellness (without short-changing my family). Whew. What are your goals or resolutions?
Also, I hope you enjoy this virtual Happy New Year card. It mixes a bit of old with some new. The old is the January Word Puzzle (now retired) and the Friendship Alphabet (for '10), which was a special last September. The new is this fun and funky You Rock paper (Sunflower, Olive, and Outdoor Denim inks). Check out the detail of my bling: ten tiny sparkles! Happy 2010!!!

Your "Breast" Friend

Please hop over to Jeanette Lynton's blog and read her post today about her "breast" friend. Her card alone is worth the stop, but she has a very important message to share.
(I couldn't resist showing off Longaberger's Horizon of Hope baskets, tote, pie plate, and measuring cup! A portion of sales of each go to the American Cancer Society.)

Crop for a Cure Results

Yesterday's Crop for a Cure was a huge success!!! First, I have to thank everyone who helped. There is no way I could have done this event without help!!! St. Clare's Episcopal Church let us use the fellowship hall, the St. Clare's Relay for Life team helped out and provided a delicious dinner, WACF 95.1 announced the event daily (how weird it was to hear my name on the RADIO!) and donated door prizes, the North Georgia News published my article about the benefit, our State Farm agent provided door prizes, and United Community Bank provided pens. My friends Joy, Carolyn and Nancy provided some silent auction items. I truly hope I haven't forgotten anybody! My Mom was a huge help!!!! Of course I have to thank DH and my MIL for taking care of the girls so that I could host this event.

Here are several of our scrappers cropping their hearts out. They got to wear the crown when they completed a layout, so there was some serious crown-swapping going on. The ladies who didn't get to wear the crown shall remain anonymous (protecting the guilty and all, ya know), though they did work hard on their projects!

The best news of all is that (so far) we have raised over $370 for the American Cancer Society!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In addition to our prizes last night, we have some more winners. Traci gets to pick out $60 in select Close To My Heart FREE products!!!!!! Sue U. gets a free Tickled Pink scrapbooking kit!!! Sue T. will have the option of purchasing an item at half price (and if she doesn't want to, I'll have my little helper choose another name from the basket). Thank you again for your generous support for such a worthy cause!

Relay for Life Crop for a Cure 2009

I am very excited to be planning a Crop for a Cure benefit for my church's Relay for Life team and the American Cancer Society! You can read all about it on my other website (haleyd.myctmh.com) on my calendar, but it is going to be so much fun!!!! Ten hours of cropping madness, a few games and contests thrown in, a layout class that I'll be teaching, door prizes, goody bags, fun, fellowship and dinner are just a few things I have up my sleeve- all for a great cause.

Let me know if you'd like more info. I'd love for you to join us on Saturday, April 18, from 1 PM to 11 PM.

Think Pink!

What do you think of our new 'dos? In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our hair salon offered pink hair extensions with a donation. How cool is that to raise awareness? I'm wearing mine in memory of my dear Aunt Marjory.

You may not be able to see my two- on my left- too well in this photo (I'll try to get a better one this week), but believe it or not, I did mine before the girls got theirs!

I didn't know it, but we (along with a few other teachers and students) set off a really big controversy at school. The principals informed us Friday that colored hair was against the dress code. Since I didn't interpret the code that way, off to the principal I went. My dear friend & co-teacher then went w/me to see the superintendent. (Yep, she's got a pink streak too! At least we were rebels with a cause.)

This morning the superintendent came to tell my co-teacher and me that we can't wear the colored hair. This afternoon they've decided we can. Aren't we pretty in pink?
Who would YOU honor with pink hair or an awareness pin?

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The good news is that my Dad's knee surgery to repair a torn miniscus (sp?) went well today. Turns out he had not one torn cartilage, but two, plus some arthritis that the dr. worked on. He's doing just fine and already bored w/keeping it elevated and on ice.

The bad news is that the mole removed last week, like the one from my ankle a few months ago, is pre-cancerous. This bad news really isn't too bad, though, because my dr. thinks he got it all, so like my ankle, no further treatment is required. He/I will just have to watch them very carefully, because he really didn't think either of these were suspicious. Truly, I am blessed that these problem spots were found early and shouldn't give me any trouble at all. (And I'm glad to have all but one of the stitches out- feels better already!)

The ugly I'm sure you've already unfortunately pictured due to the nature of this post. :)
