Sunday Bridges
The difference from a week ago
The same view from the Eastern motorway footbridge by Hyde Bus Station looking under the Clark Way bridge over the M67 as I showed you last week. That was taken before the latest cold snap hit. This was taken on Friday morning.
As before, I zoomed in on the Pennine Hills but they are now so snowladen that it is hard to tell where the sky begins.
For a view of the footbridge itself and the view in the opposite direction see Hyde DP Xtra.

Distant Snow
A view from the Eastern motorway footbridge by Hyde Bus Station looking under the Clark Way bridge over the M67.
These were taken last Wednesday before the latest cold snap hit.
I zoomed in on the Pennine Hills to capture the slivers of snow.
Now it is white all over.

M67 on a wet afternoon
A quick look from the Eastern footbridge by Hyde bus station of traffic along the M67 on a wet afternoon a few weeks ago.
I shall be flying off to sunnier climes tomorrow (ash-clouds permitting) so you may not see me commenting on other blogs for a week or so.
Posts are scheduled to appear as normal in my absence. Don't think you can post nasty or spam comments while I'm away though as my good friend Rune of Visual Norway will be keeping an eye on things until I get back.

Exit to Clark Way
This is the exit on to Clark Way from the Eastbound carriegeway of the M67 motorway.
I showed you the view in the opposite direction looking down the slip road on 26th September 2009.
Back in October 2006 I showed you an overview of the junction taken from the Western footbridge from the bus station. On that photograph you can see the Eastern footbridge which leads to the point from where this and the September 2009 photographs were taken.
The houses in the background are on what is left of the Northern section of John Street.

Caxton Really Has Gone Now
The last time we looked across the motorway from the Western Clark Road bridge, the Mary Street facade of the Caxton Works was still to be seen.
Now that most of the rubble on the inside has been cleared, the remaining outer walls have been demolished and you can see right across to Dukinfield Road.

Another Look at the Spiral Ramp Footbridge
It snowed again yesterday and I took a number of very interesting photographs around the town centre, but let's leave them for another day and take a look instead at what has become a fascinating friend for many of my followers.
I've shown you the footbridge with the spiral ramp from various angles and the views therefrom. Today's photograph is a view of the footbridge taken from Clark Way.

Hawkbits on the Verge
When I saw these flowers in the verge of the exit slip road from the M67, I thought it was a bit late in the year for dandelions, but I've been assured that these are actually hawkbits.

Mary Street and the M67
Today's photograph was taken from a train leaving Hyde Central Station for Manchester.
Below is the M67 motorway as it slices its way around the town centre.
On the right is Mary Street and the remains of the Caxton Works.
It is the opposite direction view to the one I posted last month from Clark Way bridge.

Spiders under the M67
[Click on the photograph for a fuller view]
Just West of Hyde the Peak Forest Canal goes under the M67. There are lights along the tunnel and last time I took that route, nearly all the lights had huge spider's webs attached.
Here is one of them.

Caxton Door No More
Looking along the M67 from Clark Way. On the left you can see what remains of the Caxton Mill. Where the carved doorway was is a gaping hole.
This second image from Edward Street is from the opposite direction. In the background is the Town Hall. I've given this the "pencil" treatment.
There are more photographs of this stage in the demolition process on Hyde DP Xtra.

Under the M67 near Morrisons
My post of August 16th 2007 showed the entrance to the tunnel or underpass below the M67 leading from Commercial Street near Godfrey Mill into Morrison's car park.
Earlier this year I walked through it and this is the view from the other side.
For a different rendition of this photograph see my Sithenah photoblog.

Signs from the M67
Motorists coming off the M67 at junction 3 are greeted by a plethora of road signs.
So where do you want to go?
Monday, April 06, 2009
The Answer is a Spiral Ramp
Last week I asked you where/what this was. Now I can reveal that it is the beginning of the spiral ramp on the North side of the M67 near Morrisions, leading to a footbridge over the motorway.
I first featured this in a post from June 2007.

Exits and entries
This is looking across Clark Way to the exit sliproad from the M67. In the background you can see Godfrey Mill.
Turn 180 degrees and this is what the exiting motorist sees across Clark Way.
It is Clarendon Place, leading to the Market Place and one of the entrances to the Clarendon Mall. It is not to be confused with Clarendon Street which leads from the Bus Station to the other end of Market Place, nor Clarendon Road which is somewhere else altogether.
