Ozaina El-Ali , A Very Sad Syrian Man

This guy is the saddest man, you will ever meet. Or it might be that he enjoys the feeling one gets when they have been wronged. I only say that because in all his songs he seems to get screwed when he has been nothing but nice. I know certain people enjoy the victim and guy on the cross. He is Syrian singer Odeina from the city of Lathikia where is father is a physician and an art critic. Odiena composes music, singers and writes lyrics, he has been in the business since the late 90s, he does have many fans at home and abroad. I know songs like his strike all the right notes with the young and the frustrated. He has made it big in Jordan as well as with expats.

In very short time, Odeina has met a lot of success with his fans. It helps that he is working full-time on music and he always releases new tracks. The guy has the voice and the flavor to make it in this very crowded music scene.

Blood, Gore And Love By Ammar Hassan #Palestine #GazaUnderAttacks

This is the season for "I Love Palestine" songs. Since not many non-Palestinians are doing these songs anymore, the sons of Palestine step in. Ammar Hassan the Super Star runner up stands and delivers a love song for Palestine. He thinks about Palestine and it's his love, he looks the part, and carries a gun.

This is a resistance song, camping meets war, he actually make war seem fun--it's not that gore is real. I have been watching bloody images from Palestine--some of them are too graphic, so I think more of these done in the name of entertainment are out of line. I like Ammar, he is a true gem in Palestinian pop. He means well, but whoever directed him here has not seen war up close and personal.

This is about death, love and unfinished lives. I just think people who have seen blood and death this close, will not want to go through it again.

The Beautiful Human Cyrine Abdel Nour Is...

It seems former Lebanese model turned singer turned actress has been attached to a new TV drama and she is getting the word out about her new project. "Limitless" is the name of that project, that has a humanitarian feel. A work of art that imitates life as it is.

Cyrine Abdel Nour is excited about this drama, she awaits the release of the first episode and hoping for good reviews. Drama is about life, the mirror of societies as she said in her presser. The show will expose a number of problems facing the Arab world--where do we begin? Cyrine is staying away from politics. She though state that' politics is a show, it's all play for PR.

The show is about rating, but if it has a message that would get people to think about the grim reality. A reality show may change that....Cyrine will be embedded with various agencies--like the ones who serve refugees, or the police....

Haifa Wehbe Is "Mariam": The Holy Lady Of Pop (Video)

Wael Jassar just released his cover song for the new show by Haifa Wehbe and Khaled El Nabawy. There are tow high caliber artists whose collaboration is newsworthy. Haifa likes acting and some think she is good at it. El Nabawy has a long resume in roles both international and local ones. This looks like a love story and Haifa Wehbe always gets in trouble for playing that role.

The roles played by Haifa for this show are challenging as she will portray a twin, one of whom has lost her ability to speak. So this would be fun to watch. This is Haifa's third TV drama--only one of which has aired last year and one show still having trouble with production.

The name of the show is Mariam, a holy lady in needs. The song is for Wael who flew into Egypt to record the themes song. I can see that this should will make the top ten list of most watched shows. I did mange to spot Egyptian singer Mohamed Kilani appearing in the show.

This Ramadan Brought To You By Heineken!!

Sure the title is strange and even offensive, but I could not help but notice how more and more brand label beers in Egypt are paying top dollars for product endorsement on Egyptian TV dramas. Savvy beer marketers figured a cleaver way to get themselves in every Arab home, they may not be able to run advertisements or rent billboards, but they will not be stopped.

That famous beer marker in Egypt who got sold to beet giant Heineken is placing its products in most TV dramas this Ramadan season. Yes, they pay for the product placements and Egyptian producers are a cheap data and have no virtual morals. So more and more characters will be shown this Ramadan drinking beer in a country with a Muslim Majority.  Thanks to Filfan for pointing that out. Even in Ramadan it seems the passive Arab consumer cannot have a month holy as it used to be. He will have to ensure nudity, cursing, sleaziness and now alcoholic beverages on his TV screen. I do not blame the consumer for turning off that device and spending time with family instead.

This is such a shameful practice, and it has little to do with reality, yes sadly, a lot of Muslims do consume alcohol, but not the rate shown in movies and TV Dramas.

After furtrther research:
It seems that the company that makes the most appearances in movies and dramas is actually brewed by Al-Ahram, a government conglomerate that also publishes the most widely-read newspaper in Egypt. So there you have it, you have the government running a beer business that's sole mission to give people a break from all the shit they (they government) are not able to address

The Handsome Lebanese Young Anwar Nour New Single

Anwar Nour knows that he is attractive, so he dresses well to complement the package. You get that impression by surfing through his Facebook and seeing his pictures and the comments he leaves. He also happens to have a bittersweet voice, that draws you in. His songs and voice make it so easy to cry, and I know the kind of songs fit for his voice will bring you to tears.

He is Lebanese and studied business and music is now his business. The music of his single is the work hip Egyptian composer Mahmoud Khayamy. The song is about being alone, when one could have the option of being in the company of a loved one.

Samira Said Goes Back To 1981! 1001 Arabian Nights

90.90 Radio in Egypt is back with a new radio series about 1001 Arabian Nights. Aside from the show, the song for the show made all the news, as it's been performed by Samira Said. The Moroccan diva who wanted to do this song for the show lead by colorful actor Yehya Al Fakharany.

Samira Said is a big time artist, and radio is not a big business anymore, but nevertheless Samira did the song and it's actually a change for him. The song reminds me of her songs from the 80's era. Lately, Samira has been doing Moroccan electronic fast-paced pop songs. This one is a lot more mellow.

This song has a special meaning as Samira did a song from a similar TV show with the same title back in 1981. So this will be some radio program in 2015!

"Cello": All The Best Looking Arab Actors In One Place!

They have a show in Lebanon that will air fairly soon, the show has been called "Cello" I do not know why, but the promo song gives plenty of airtime to this musical instrument. By how things are looking, this is a big budget show with mainly Lebanese actors but also some Syrians and Egyptians as well. All the big names and good looking appear in this darama. Like Taim Hassan, Yousef Al Khal, Yosra Al Lozy and Nadine Naseeb Njim among others.

But the highlight for me was the title song performed by the lovely Marwan Khoury. This is the biggest gift the show can expect. I love the location, the outfits and all that stunning camera work. They have been reported to use a wide camera shots. The promo does not show a lot or reveal much, but it shows what can be a long triangle. The life of the rich and famous is well-documented.

Enjoy this teaser and appreciate the work of Marwan Khoury at his finest.

Good Music Video: Sandy In Tears For "Zay Adtak"

Sandy returns with a new song where she is in a relationship with a douche bag. The man who appears in Sandy's music video seems to be in love with two things, his smartphone and himself. He does not care enough about Sandy and she is now letting us know about this with this dark song.

Sandy does not do these songs enough, but this time she has challenged herself by doing this emotionally complex song that required she does some acting and cry real tears. I know teens will find this song special as they think they would be different, but real life might be a lot more complicated than being black and white.

As a song, this is a fine work by a young pop star whose songs has tended to be a happy go luck style. A song that deals with cheating is a new territory for Sandy, but she does a stunning job here being the dedicated lover she is for a guy who is not worth it. Toward the end, Sandy throws away the ring yet, she does not walk out and wears a black dress instead.Being in a relationship with a serial cheater and a party boy is not easy. The lyrcis of the song capture the moment and allow the listener to experience a roller coaster.

Sandy is keeping a busy summer schedule and this song will help out in making this summer is of Sandy. I have followed Sandy's career for more than six years and every two years she pulls an incredible trick. She does it again in the summer of 2015.

Chauvinist Pig Singer Mohamed Foaud Lies Again!

It's been many years since a scandal erupted in Egypt over a racy birthday party for actress Menna Fadaly. The good guy and the heart of Egypt as he is known Mohammed Fouad was present and the party and took part of many of the photographs with the young actress.  He is all smiles and looks like he is posing for the cameras.

Now he says something insulting to our intelligence, Mena was actually plotting against Mena someone sent her to do this stunt to ruin my name. We are supposed to believe that. He is saying she also apologized to him on more than  one occasion. Not only did he insult our intelligence, but he is also putting a young woman under the bus. What did she do wrong? she thought she was being cute.

The host does not even believe him, he is making stuff up! This is part of the Arab culture where we are supposed to pretend we are all saints in public.

Why was he at the party to begin with?  Why did he not leave right away after this conspiracy that he seems to be the only one to see? I love Mena for responding to his stupid comments. Find her response here

Wael Jassar New Single and TV Drama (Video) "El Nehaya Wahda"

Wael Jassar seems like a bored guy in his latest song. The song is part of an upcoming TV drama with some of the biggest names in acting. It's an Egyptian show, the song written by Ayman Bahgat Amar--the biggest name in lyrics and the music is the work of the hip Maydyan.

I have no doubt in mind that this will be a huge show, I like the actors I see, the song is average. The title of the song is gripping--the end is the same. The lyrics are nice, the music might be a let down. the song is rich with meaning about life and people. I know having the best people behind one's song is great, maybe I am just not in love with Wael as much as I used to.

Breaking News: Beloved Actress and Icon Faten Hamama Dead at 83

Iconic Egyptian film star Faten Hamama, who was dubbed the “lady of the Arabic screen,” passed away on Saturday, Al Arabiya’s correspondent reported. She was 83.

A figure of the golden age of Egyptian cinema, Faten Hamama's career reached its pinnacle in the 1940s and 1950s. She starred in romantic movies alongside the famed Arab crooner Abdel Halim Hafez as well as in films advocating women's rights and condemning social injustices.

The state-run MENA news agency said she had in recent weeks suffered from a health condition that required hospital treatment. She was discharged from hospital only to be re-admitted because of a sudden illness before she passed away on Saturday.

She was one of Egypt’s most prominent actresses in the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s.

Hamama was born in the Delta city of Mansoura. She made her film debut when she was seven years old, featuring in Youm Saeed (Happy Day) alongside late legendary singer and composer Mohamed Abdel Wehab, and went on to star in over two dozen films.

In 1963 during her heyday, she starred in an American film called Cairo.

Hamama also acted in several TV shows, including Dameer Abla Hekmat (The Conscience of Mrs. Hekmat) in 1992 and Wagh Al-Qamar (Face of the Moon) which premiered in 2000.

The "Lady of the Screen," as she was dubbed, won a number of awards and honours throughout her career.

She was chosen the “Star of the Century” at the 2001 Alexandria International Festival, honouring her lifetime of achievement in Egyptian cinema.

Hamama married Egyptian film star Omar Sharif in 1955. They co-starred in several movies together and became one of Egypt's most famous celebrity couples, before divorcing in the mid-1970s.

Here's To The Syrian Black Widow Rouwaida Attieh

Don't let his love cancel you our....talk is cheap are some of the fine lyrics form a new song by the Syrian black widow Rouwaida Attieh. The man behind the song is none but the hottest Lebanese composer, musician and singer Salim Assaf

In a radio interview, the artist spoke about the story behind this song,  it was inspired by a phone conversation with his mother who told him the main line "no one knows what's in the other person's heart" Hence came this cone form the heart and it was a summer hit summer. Which is odd because moving songs like that do not often come in the summer. The song was meant to be for the summer, but summers are saved for happy go luck songs..let's dance types.

I think the sadness in Rouwaida's voice is coming from a real place, I would give her the Oscar for best moving performance. Without looking at her, you hear the woes and the sadness in her voice. Very few artists can do that, and this is harder for Rouwaida specially that she has a very strong voice. The sorrow might be coming from what she sees happen in Syria on the ground.

Listen: The Last Truly Great Song By Pop Star Khaled Agag

Khaled Agag has the curse many pop stars who shot to fame in the late 90s faced, it's really hard for them to make the transition in the internet era. He was a hit-maker for about four years and then the lights went off and it's me and five other guys know who Khaled Agag is.

Khaled tried to revive his career in 2010, but that was overshadowed by the Arab Spring and many pop stars disappeared. He still has the same sweet voice we have come to like about him, he does the dramatic emotional songs about tears so well. He is also brilliant when it comes to choosing a happy go luck songs that gets you to shake it.

Last we have seen him was when appeared during that Punk'd like TV show during the month of Ramadan.

I happen to think the two songs of his (below) remain his finest dramatic performance. You can feel and sympathize with the singer, he comes off as a raging bull of emotions who have been wronged.

Listen: Ahmed Diab Got The Karaoke Blues!

I am crazy about his look. Ahmed Diab's picture that was released with his new single, tells me that this guy has a wonderful sense of style. This is not easy....The song however tells a darker story...the blues of someone whose past is not a source of pride. Karaoke like music is popular in today's Egypt music scene.

It's a good vehicle showing the talent Ahmed has in terms of quality voice and composing the music. I think he lucked out with a delightful song about feeling guilty for having wronged someone else. It's a complicated subject....and Ahmed sounds bittersweet as he sings his heart out, he manipulated his emotions and voice to perform his debut song. I know the kids on these Egyptian file sharing website took the song and ran with it...

WATCH: Saber Al Rebai - Ajmal Moukhtasar 2014 Music Video / صابر الرباعي - أجمل مختصر

Saber Al Rebai did release an album in March of this year, Rotana did it's part and booked hundreds of billboards that featured the album and its artist. Now, the Tunisian coach on The Voice is out with a new music video from his lead song. He is looking classy as always, and suits do him justice.

There is so much philosophy in this song, and those affects are interesting. This is a hotel lounge music video. Saber is not ready to let go. He is remembering the old days with the one that got away. He misses what he loved about her, but it seems memories is all he will keep. He sees her everywhere he looks. But it seems she left him and now he is all alone.

Every female he seems, it seems he sees his ex in that person. This is a dark song, it has nothing happy about it. But the clip compliments the song and syncs with its message.

Mostapha Aman Comes in Peace! New Breakout Single

Young and good looking music producer Mostapha Aman wanted to get his feet wet so instead of working and producing songs for other talents in Egypt, he started to sing and this is the first official song from this young gun.

The title of his first song means war....it's what you say when you want to ask someone to leave a place. Get the hell out of here in a polite fashion. So the music is really good which is what you expect no less form a guy who knows his beats.

There will be a music video and a full album release in ealry October for the Eid. There are some serious talents that helped with this album (Amir Taema, Ramy Gamal, Ahmed Saad and few more) I am actually looking forward to this new stuff.

I'm Begining To Think Elissa Needs Therapist

Elissa is still looking for a guy, she is pushing forty and still looking for her guy. But she is not searching in silence, we all have to suffer for hr journey. Watch this song and images from a Rotana produced TV drama, and since Elissa is one of their top artist, this song makes sense.

An innocent human, an innocent lady, a song about doing everything right yet getting not anything right. I must say, this song is pretty good, but I might be not be able to be just to Elissa, I may have outgrown her. Some of her songs are now sounding like she needs to talk to a physical therapist, and not sing. Drama is everywhere, and Elissa knows it very well.

This is not dissing a talented artist, this is dissing artists who are unable to tell a different story or a different style.

After The Voice, Marwa Naji Sings For TV Dramas

As a rule of thump, Egyptian musicians prefer to work with local artists from home--they prefer their countrymen over all the other nationalities. Unless, more money is involved or the non-Egyptian artist is a sexy one. Now The Voice from MBC has a rare Egyptian talent Marwa Najy, she can really sin, carry a tune and hold her breath.

So for one Egyptian drama, they ask her to record the opening and closing credit songs. This is awesome when they give attention to young talents who are really gifted and smile like Marwa does. I know hundreds of young Egyptian singers, very few of them are as talented as Marwa, and even fewer are as marketable as she is.

This Ramadan Star Academy Winner Mahmoud Mohey Thinks About God

The most exciting young star from 2014 is The Voice Mahmoud Mohey, he is a big deal for his fans. And just a month ago he had a hit song that got people talking. Now, he slows down and releases a Ramadan supplication. I like these, and tend to be soft on artists doing them. Such tracks are personal and not meant for profit. Also music is not a big part of it....just the vocals and whatever the artist has on his hear.
