Elle's Studio: Document December Album Preparation

 Hi Friends!

Welcome back for more Elle's Studio inspiration!

Can you believe it's already November?! Where has this year gone?

Time to start prepping our Elle's Studio Document December albums!

Last year I used this super cute 4 x 4inch album which I really loved,

Except, sometimes I found myself wanting just a bit more space to document the story.

So, this year I'm opting for a larger 6.5 x 9inch album (Citrus Twist Kits: Life Crafted Album) so that I can have a mix of pockets, TN pages and even mini scrapbook pages!

To help me prepare for the upcoming Season, I have already downloaded and printed the

Elle's Studio: Document December Prompts Printable

and placed it inside my album cover to help keep me inspired!

This is such a helpful lil printable, and best of all, you can get pick one up in the Document December section of the shop for FREE here!

I've also printed a few of the Merry November 2020 Printables to include in this year's album too! Having printed a few note cards and base pages will really help me to save time in putting my album together during the Festive season!

SO cute already! Love it!

And because I just couldn't resist putting a few pretties together,

here's a sneaky peek at my opening page too...

LOVE!!!

You'll spy that I'm really channeling the pink and red again this year, so needless to say my album preparation has also included color sorting my supplies! It's bound to save me time, right?

I hope my sneaky peek has inspired you to get thinking and preparing your DD 2020 album!
Haven't got your supplies organized yet?

Thanks so much for visiting,

Elle's Studio: Tis The Season!

Hi Friends!

It's time to bust out the Michael Buble music as "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!"
I am so excited to be preparing for the Season of Giving!
I just love the Holidays, and the new Elle's Studio 6 x 6 Paper Stack - 'Tis The Season is perfect for documenting all our stories with!

Whether you trim this paper into pocket size note cards, create greeting cards, include it in your Document December albums, or even craft some Holiday decor, this paper pack is simply the best!
I used the 'Tis The Season papers for documenting my son's visit to see the Jolly Ole Elf himself!

Here's my layout,

"Merry & Bright"

Ho! Ho! Ho! What could be merrier?! Such a cute photo!

Other Supplies: Red Stamping Ink, SpiegelMom Scraps Red Rapture Sequins, White Tissue Paper.

Let's take a closer look at my sweet Santa scrapbook page!

So adorable! And just look at all those pretty papers!
So many gorgeous designs!
It's well known that I like to maximize the 6 x 6 Paper Stack papers for 12 x 12 scrapbook pages, & for today's post, I really wanted to share my top 5 ideas on how to do this!

1. Use the bold pattern paper designs to matte your photographs onto!
I always print my photos with a white border and tend to forget how important that pop of color is. A striking base for your photo/s will really direct your eye and draw attention to your most important part of the layout! That red beneath my photo is just stunning!!!

2. Create paper layers to mount your photograph onto!
Layered papers create texture, give shape &  add visual interest. They also give us the opportunity to mix and match colors and designs, adding greater elements to the overall design. You'll notice that I even add some white tissue wrap in between my paper layers to add further emphasis & interest to my pattern paper cluster!

3. Pull out your punches, or favorite fussy cutting scissors, for some fun pattern paper shapes!
Think rows of pattern paper circles stitched together, concentric paper hearts or in today's example, layered dovetail banners! A really simple, but oh so effective, way to incorporate 6 x 6 papers into our projects!

4. Be an illusionist!
Create the impression of larger papers with careful cuts and clever paper placement! I did this two ways with the dovetail banners in my layout.
Firstly, for the striped and wider looking banner, I diagonally cut the 6 x 6 paper from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. I then re-arranged the two cut triangles so that the longest lengths were vertical, and on opposite sides from one another. Next I overlapped one of the triangles over the other and taped it into place. You can't see the taped join because it's all hidden behind my photo cluster!  So cool!
Secondly, I cut my thinner banners through the centers so that they became two pieces which I then shortened or lengthened beneath my photograph.
The trick is just to make sure they align correctly ;)

5. Build 'em up!
Connect your 6 x 6 papers together to build a longer or wider piece of paper! You'll see that I joined two sheets of the typed 'tis the season pattern paper to create a 6 x 12 sheet of paper. I also butted strips of papers together which I then tucked under the folded edge of the 6 x 12 paper. So clever!

That's just a few of my fave ways to incorporate the smaller pattern papers into my creating.
I hope it gives you some inspiration and ideas for the latest 6 inch 'Tis The Season Paper Stack.

Elle's Studio: Document December: Prepping Your Album!

Hi Friends!

Welcome back for more Elle's Studio inspiration!
Today I am so excited to share how I've prepared my Document December album, as well as give you a few top tips & early glimpses too!

What can I say?
I just LOVE this Season, and Buddy the Elf maybe one of my idols, ha! #nogrinchhere
This year, I'm a little time poor so I've opted for a smaller, easier album to record this year's Festivities.

Top Tip #1:   Selecting a smaller pocket size album will ensure that we don't get overwhelmed by the enormity of documenting the season.

Here's a look at my album with a few of my fave Elle's Studio Document December supplies.....

The album is one of those 4" x 4" Instagram pocket page albums, but it was a tad boring for my liking! No surprises then that my album preparation involved quite a bit of embellishment & decoration. I started with the book plate and spine of the album, and added the year with our Red Dipped Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

You'll also spot those cute candy canes from the Ho! Ho! Ho! Puffy Stickers and a heart from the Christmas Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers. Super cute!  I also glued pom pom trim (from my sewing box stash) across the top of my album cover. The tiny pom poms reminded me of snow and really added a fun & playful element to the cover.

And speaking of fun, I just loved decorating the cover! The Merry Christmas white acrylic was a perfect title & adornment for this year's album - take a peek!

I'm so happy with how this turned out! Simple, sweet and really pretty! Those stocking Die Cut Shapes are errrything! And of course, I couldn't just do the front cover - so here's a peek at the inner cover too.

Umm, okay, wow!
I may be completely smitten with the Document December Kit and this Season of Giving!
It's the most wonderful time of the year, indeed!

You'll notice that on my desk I have cut a whole lot of pattern papers to the 4" x 4" size to aid my album preparation. I have used both the Document December Kit papers, as well as one of the Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection papers too!

Top Tip #2: When it comes to unusual sized albums, it helps to pre-cut a bunch of background papers so that all you need to do is print your photo and add a sentiment and sticker or two!

Here's a closer look inside...

For the inside cover of my album, I combined the new Good Cheer Acetate Die Cuts with more of our Puffy Stickers.

Top Tip #3: To avoid the appearance of glue behind the clear acetate, I used the puffy stickers to hide the spots and help hold the acetate in place.

In keeping with my love for fabric trims and textural elements, I also added some vintage burlap lace & a couple of tassels from my stash.

I attached the tassels to one of the album rings, and while I was there I decided to hole punch the Good Cheer Acetate star banner and thread it onto the ring as well. For maximum impact, I also threaded the large Gold Acrylic Star onto this ring as it's embellishments galore for this mini album!

Top Tip #4: Hole punch Die Cuts & maximize embellishments with openings to use as 'dangling charms' on album rings. Great for adding interest & texture to your pages, as well as softening the appearance of the album rings.

And lastly, but by no means least, to avoid over filling my pockets I adhered the Gold Dec 2019 Acrylic to the front of my clear pocket - not to the pattern paper base card! Such a great opening page to my super sweet DD album!

Top Tip #5: Adhere larger embellishments to the exterior of your pockets to keep them from getting too bulky!

So it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas for me! I hope my DD album preparation has inspired you to get started on your Christmas documenting too!

Thanks so much visiting,

Happy Arty Days,

Elle's Studio: Document December: Getting Started!

Hi Friends,

I can hardly wait for Christmas!!!
I am SO excited to be prepping my December Daily album with the gorgeous
If you haven't seen this amazing kit, it looks like this....

I told you it's amazing!!!
Such a fabulous and well coordinated Christmas themed kit!
And if you're a little like me and want all.the.things you can also purchase the following kit add-ons to really make your DD album special......

SO good!

I am keeping that sweet acrylic album for another December project ;)

For this year's December Daily, I am using an old Photo Journal that I picked up from my local scrapbook store.

It has a beautifully bound spine and most importantly, pre cut photo pockets on every single opening! (I know, how awesome is that?!)
This is a huge time saver for me, and means minimal prep time - Yay!

Pockets are fantastic in any DD album, as they're not only perfect for housing our precious photographs, but also ideal for storing memorabilia & creating shaker pockets too!
With so little to prepare, I got straight onto decorating my journal cover......

Christmas magic, indeed!

Isn't this festive & fun?!!
I adore that snow drops pattern paper - so crisp and fresh for Christmas!
I couldn't resist teaming it with the wood veneer trees and that giant 25 acrylic - so effective!
Here's a little peak at my inside opening page......

Eeep!!! How cute is this?!!
I have used more of that divine snow drops pattern paper to line my pages with, and added a thick line of washi tape down the center to strengthen the album's spine.
On the left hand side, I feature the Hazel Alphabet Stickers for my "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" quote. Fun!
On the right, I foam mount one of the tags, and embellish with more alphas, stickers and even those acrylic stars!
So awesome!
And there you have it!
A little look at the getting started stages of my December Daily album.
I hope I've inspired you to make a start on your DD album today!
