Karmin

Speaking of music, I came across a really cool duet called Karmin the other day.
I found them after I saw an episode of Saturday Night Live that was hosted by Zooey Deschanel and Karmin played live.
I then went and found almost every song I could by them on You Tube and I think these two are going to be huge.

They started doing covers on You Tube, but have just realised their first single. They are also engaged and pretty damn gorgeous.

You must check out this song. (Just wait for the chorus!)
It's real 'pop' music, but I bet you will be singing "boom, boom, boom da boom baby" for rest of the week!

From Manhattan to Midnight in Paris

tumblr_lsga32VF3L1qfpcnio1_500

Tom got me the best present for valentines day.. He got me an album called "From Manhattan to Midnight in Paris" which is a collection of songs from all my favourite Woody Allen films.

I remember when I was single valentines day was such a big deal, but now (like my birthday) it's just another day, perhaps with a few more kisses than normal. I hope you had a lovely day and I hope that you did not get red roses (so tacky!)

The weekend that I needed. (Gotye included).

kids

We had a lovely weekend up at the farm. (We call it 'the farm' even though it is really half vineyard and half horse stables.. I think because "Shall we head up to the vineyard this weekend" sounds a bit wanky).

It was just what I needed I think, and best of all we went and saw Gotye play at the Belvoir Amphitheatre (it's the most amazing outdoor venue) that is conveniently located about 5 minutes from the farm.

Tom and I used to go and see live music all the time and we both really miss it. The Gotye concert was really good, but I must be getting old because it was so loud and went soo late (I'm such a granny!)

I was thinking today about all the good music we went and saw before Sophie was born. Seeing the French singer Camille live in concert was probably one of the best things I have ever seen, and pretty close second was C.W Stoneking and Regina Spektor.

So tell me.. what was the best concert you have ever been to?

The Dance

mumma's shoes

Sophie likes to wear my shoes.
She also likes to dance.
Lately, we have been dancing to this song and this song.
And, if you want to see the best moves ever, watch this.
(Sophie is going to kill me when she is 21!)

We have been listening to this album quite a bit lately.
It brings back memories!

His other album is pretty damn good too.

She's got the magic

I know I am always the last one to join the party, but have you seen this video?
I LOVE it! The music is pretty cool too.. I downloaded the song from itunes and it has been played several million times already!

Soundtrack of the month

This was more like the soundtrack of last year, but I am still listening to it (almost) daily..

dan-in-real-life
Its the 'Dan in real life' soundtrack. I know, I know, soundtracks are usually not cool but this one is really good.. I saw the movie last year and I was watching it thinking the movie is good but the music is excellent. The soundtrack is almost all by a guy called Sondre Lerche. I am slowly collecting all his albums.. big thumbs up!

The morning song..

You know what makes getting up on Monday morning so much easier?
Listening to this song at full blast and dancing around like a lunatic (while your 2 year old daughter stares at you, wondering what exactly her mother is doing..)

Soundtrack of the month..

I always get stuck on one album that I play over and over until I am sick of it (Well usually Tom gets sick of it first and asks me very kindly to choose something else to play)!

Regina

At the moment it's Regina Spektor's album Far. I first saw Regina Spektor on rage one morning singing 'fidelity' and from then I was hooked. Tom and I were lucky enough to go and see her live last time she came to Sydney and it was on of the best concerts I have ever been to. She is one cool lady!
