Review: ON HIS KNEES by Laura Kaye!

My Review: I'm not sure I have enough words for this book. I don't read a lot of m/m romance, but I love Laura Kaye and the Blasphemy series, so I wasn't going to pass up the chance to read the new one, even if it's not something I'd normally pick up. And I'm so, so glad I did. I inhaled this book. It was so deep and sexy, and I need more.

Alex and Jamie's story was just so incredibly beautiful. Not only was it fascinating to watch Jamie come to terms with what he didn't realize he needed, but to see Alex open himself up to something real.. Sigh. And, no spoilers... but readers, I almost cried when Jamie was kneeling near the end. I wish I could give specifics, but I guess you'll just have to read it and find out what I'm talking about!

Cover Lovin': How hot is that?!

Recommendation: Each Blasphemy book can be read as a stand-alone - but you'll want more, trust me.

Final Rating: FIVE out of FIVE stars (5/5)! This was so emotional, and so hot. I love the Blasphemy series, and each one just gets better than the last!

Happy Reading!

Meet the Masters of Blasphemy…

About ON HIS KNEES (Blasphemy #5):

Getting on his knees makes him question everything…and want even more…

Another failed relationship has lawyer Jamie Fielding confronting the truth—he’ll never be satisfied with any woman until he admits what he needs…to submit and to be used—hard. When a friend invites him to the exclusive Blasphemy club, Jamie is stunned to find everything he ever wanted—in the fierce, ruthless hands of a man.

Psychiatrist Alex McGarry will play with anyone who craves his rough brand of domination, but what he really wants is to settle down. Which makes the submissive male he meets at his club a bad idea—the man might be hot as hell but he’s also new to everything Alex has to offer. Except that doesn’t keep them from coming together again and again, sating every one of their darkest desires.

Master Alex sets Jamie’s whole world on fire and makes him question everything—and that’s good. Because Alex won’t tolerate hiding what they have for long and he wants much more than just having Jamie on his knees...

Review: THEIRS TO TAKE by Laura Kaye!

My Review: I'm torn about this one. On one hand, I think author Laura Kaye did a good job handling a trio relationship, and all the worries that might arise from that. She also, of course, did a great job with the hot and steamy scenes - no surprise there because she is a master at it, for sure. But this story felt like it was lacking some depth. And I think that stems from the fact that it seems like these characters fall in love too quickly. If this book had been longer, so the audience could actually experience all the time they spent together working on her boat, I think it would have all felt natural. But due to space constraints, the time they spend working together is mostly breezed through. But I think we needed that time.

This book had a different feel from the others, and I think that's because it takes place mostly outside of the club itself. It also doesn't feature BDSM anywhere near as heavily as the previous books. Instead, the focus is on making a menage work - which is where it should be. This dynamic can be hard to pull off. But unsurprisingly, Laura Kaye pulls it off with flying colors. Because she is a rockstar.

Cover Lovin: Fits great with the rest of the series!

Recommendation: This, like the rest of the series, can be read as a stand alone.

Final Rating: THREE POINT FIVE out of FIVE stars (3.5/5)!! Lacked some depth, but the well written trio and steamy scenes made up for it!

Happy Reading!

Review: EYES ON YOU by Laura Kaye!

From New York Times Bestselling author Laura Kaye, comes EYES ON YOU, a new novella in her Blasphemy Series, brought to you by 1,001 Dark Nights! Be sure to grab your copy today!

My Review: I'm going to start with what didn't work for me, which works out since its the beginning of the book. I get that Wolf and Liv meeting is supposed to feel like fate, a perfect chance meeting that became something amazing.. But alas, it just felt cheesy, fake, and forced. After having read several Laura Kaye books now, this is far from the norm for her. She's usually great and making everything feel real and genuine. But I guess she saved all that for the steamy scenes.

Like the previous books in this series, the sex scenes are beyond hot. My windows were fogging up here, people - and that's saying something, because Wolf and Liv's kink is not my own. I also have to give major kudos for the treatment of BDSM and especially consent. This is hugely important, and Laura Kaye doesn't skimp on the explanations and safety. And once I got past the cheesy "meet cute," the romance itself was sweet, and just an overall good story.

Cover Lovin': Fits with the rest of the 1001 Dark Nights Series.

Recommendation: This can be read as a stand-alone, though multiple characters from previous books play small roles.

Final Rating: THREE POINT FIVE out of FIVE stars (3.5/5)! The two of them meeting, instead of feeling like fate, felt cheesy and staged. But the romance was beautifully sweet, and the sex scenes steaming hot!

Happy Reading!

And Wolf loves to watch.

In the wake of discovering her fiancé’s infidelity, florist Olivia Foster never expected to find someone who not only understood her wildest, darkest fantasies, but would bring them to life. As Wolf introduces her to his world at the play club, Blasphemy, Liv finds herself tempted to explore submission and exhibitionism with the hard-bodied Dom even as she’s scared to trust again.

Review: ARRANGED by Lexi Blake!

ARRANGED - Tour banner
My Review: This book had several things going for it - arranged marriage, royalty, BDSM, and Lexi Blake. All things I greatly enjoy. And I'll admit, when I signed up to review this, I didn't look too far beyond Lexi Blake and that this was a novella in the Masters and Mercenaries series - I did not pay attention enough to realize that this is a bit different of a BDSM dynamic than I usually read. In this book, the female is the top, and the male the submissive. I'll admit, I was a little unsure when I started reading this. Could I get in to something that's out of my usual comfort zone? And I'm here to tell you - yes, I definitely can. And that's because Lexi Blake knows how to write some seriously hot scenes, and some amazing love stories.

Arranged made me swoon, made me so hot my glasses fogged up, and even made my chuckle more than a few times. Day had a dry wit that came through a few times in the book, and even Kash had a sort of ironic sense of humor that really worked for me. And these two personalities really worked together, as well. I've read plenty of romances where, even though the characters got a HEA, they didn't really feel like they meshed well - but that's never an issue with a Lexi Blake book, and Arranged is no different. I'm not so familiar with the Masters and Mercenaries series that I was aware of Kash's existence before this book (I've only read a couple of the books) - but I will definitely have to check out his previous appearance(s) so I can see how he played as a secondary character.

Cover Lovin': Fits perfectly with the rest of the 1001 Dark Nights series, and my, that cover model is gorgeous.

Recommendation: This can be read without much prior knowledge of the Masters and Mercenaries series - but some background helps.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! Another awesome book by Lexi Blake, and definitely worth a read!

Happy Reading!

“Are we a happy couple?” “I don’t think we’ve had time enough to be sure of that yet, but I know we were once.” She’d thought it through in a way she never had before. She had a much different view of those months with Kash in England. “You were courting me back then, weren’t you? You wanted me to be your girlfriend.” He sat down in the plush chair that dominated the sitting area portion of his bedroom. Normally they stayed in the living room, but he’d wanted more privacy. This was the only place in his suite that wasn’t covered by CCTV, the only place where they could truly be alone. Everything about the space was masculine and decadent, including the man himself. With his hair disheveled and his chest on display, it wasn’t hard at all to see him as a primal male. One she’d dearly enjoy taming. “I don’t think you realized it at the time.” She was willing to admit her faults. “I didn’t. I had my nose in a book most of the time back then and I had little experience with men. No, I had no idea you were interested in me beyond copying my notes from class when you slept in.” “It would surprise you to know that I often thought about sleeping in with you.” His voice had gone low and gentle. “I was crazy about you back then, Day. I find myself in the same position today, but I don’t want to scare you. I know you think we should take this slow and I will honor your wishes, but I want this marriage to work. You see me as a playboy, but I don’t want to be some forty-plus player who trades on his money to keep young girls around him. I think it might be time for me to find out if I can be the king my father would have wanted me to be.” It was all she needed to hear. If he wanted to try, she was ready. Despite his reputation, she’d fallen right back into a peaceful friendship with him. He’d been the old Kash, supporting her when she needed it. He’d asked her questions about her work with the education department and then gave her ideas on how to handle the parliament. He hadn’t told her what she should do. He’d suggested, debated. “I think you’ll find me less averse to giving this marriage a real try than you think. I was planning on talking to you about using the Palm Ceremony to begin to explore what we could be as a couple.” He frowned. “I’m not sure what that means. You want to talk? Or have counseling? Because that sounds terrible.” “I was talking about sex, Kashmir. I thought we could use this time to see if we’re sexually compatible.” He popped up out of his chair like an eager puppy. “Yes. I think that is a brilliant idea. We should start now. Don’t worry. I intend to be gentle with you.” She didn’t move at all. “Like you are with your lovely flowers?” “Women deserve a man’s care,” he said quietly. “Day, I can’t erase my past.” “I don’t want you to.” He misunderstood her problems with his statement. “But I do need you to understand that I’m not one of those flowers. I’m not here to sit at your side and bat my eyelashes in the hopes that you’ll buy something for me. I don’t work like that. I don’t care about your money.” “That is easy for you to say. You’re about to have access to all of it, aren’t you?” He had a point. “Even if I wasn’t, that wouldn’t be why I would want you, Kash. Sit down. We have some things to talk about before we get started. Come here close to me.” He moved to the chaise she was sitting on, lowering himself down with a sullen frown. “I knew there would be talking.” She was fairly certain his lovely flowers did very little talking, but he would get used to it. “Why did you want me back then?” “I liked you. I liked talking to you. I liked being around you. I rather liked who I was when I was around you.” His expression softened. “I don’t think you knew how alluring you were to someone like me. You didn’t understand how beautiful you were, so you didn’t use it against me. Most women do.” “Well, that happens when you surround yourself with women who are mostly valued for their looks. I don’t blame them. They’ve been told their beauty is the only thing worthy about them. If you want to meet women who don’t feel that way, you should probably expand out of models and actresses.” “Well, you would be surprised how many gorgeous, sexy physicists turn me down because I’m not smart enough for them.”
NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Lexi Blake lives in North Texas with her husband, three kids, and the laziest rescue dog int eh world. She began writing at a young age, concentrating on plays and journalism. It wasn’t until she started writing romance and urban fantasy that she found the stories of her heart. She likes to find humor in the strangest places and believes in happy endings no matter how odd the couple, threesome, or foursome may seem.

Review: kINKED edited by Cori Vidae!

Release Date: March 14th, 2017

Type: Anthology, Short Stories, BDSM, Tattoos, Contemporary, Fantasy, Science Fiction

About the Book: Every tattoo tells a story...

A submissive pain slut receives a tattoo as a reward for years of selfless service. A man's body is used to deliver a very different kind of message to a domineering masochist. An exotic teahouse on an alien planet where one woman explores her submissiveness with a set of shapeshifting twins.

These and other sizzling stories take you to the places where kink meets ink and leave you indelibly marked.
  [Description from Goodreads.com]
My Review: Anthologies are always a little hit and miss. Not everything can be exactly your style, right? And that's true here - but I have to say.. every story in this anthology was excellent. Even the stories I didn't necessarily like or get into, they were still incredibly written. For those that took place in different worlds or different time periods, the authors did a fantastic job giving the reader a scene of place and world building, even within such a short story. I couldn't put this book down. It was a one-sitting read for me, because each story was just as good as the last.

I'm going to highlight a few of my favorites..
My absolute favorite has to be Sae-ri by Nicole Blackwood. I thought the world this author created was amazing, and definitely very, very hot. I would love to see more in this setting, and even just more by this author. She has another short story in another anthology, so I might have to check it out.
Begin Again by Tiffany Michelle Brown was another one I really enjoyed.
And finally, Inkarnate by Mara Malins - another one I really got into from the very beginning.

So be sure to check out kINKED, edited by Cori Vidae! I know I have some BDSM and Tattoo-loving readers.. this is right up your alley!

Cover Lovin': Oh my. *Fans self*

Recommendation: You need to love your stories hot!

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! I loved this anthology, and even the stories that didn't "rev my engine," so to speak, were still beautifully written. Definitely worth a read!

Review: MASTERING HER SENSES by Laura Kaye!

MASTERING HER SENSES - Review Tour banner

Decadent… Sensual… Forbidden…

12 Masters. 12 Desires. 12 Fantasies Come to Life. Meet the Masters of Blasphemy…

My Review: I'm smack dab in the middle when it comes to my feelings on this one. I can definitely say it wasn't as good as the previous book in the series, which I totally loved. But this wasn't bad, just.. okay.

My biggest issue was that the big climax of the story was the plot equivalent of the "big hill" on a kiddie roller coaster. Or maybe a speed bump. It was such a huge let down. The rest of the story was hot, and considering what issues Quinton and Cassia were working through, I'm sure this author could create some better drama. In fact, I know she can, because the other books I've read by her were awesome.

Now to what I loved. BDSM is my kink of choice when it comes to romance/erotica, so I have read my fair share. And Laura Kaye does it very well. It's all safe, consensual, and great care is taken on both sides. I also like how the characters use different aspects of the lifestyle to help them work through issues - in this case, Cassia's phobia after her accident. It was all so well done, which does help redeem this book in my eyes.

Cover Lovin': Definitely hot.

Recommendation: While reading the previous books isn't required or absolutely necessary... you should read them because they are amazing.

Final Rating: THREE POINT FIVE out of FIVE (3.5/5)!! Alas, I had to knock this down some because the storyline fell flat around 80% in. But this author still deserves a read, and I will be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

Happy Reading!

About MASTERING HER SENSES (Blasphemy #2, 2/21/17):

12 Masters. Infinite fantasies. Welcome to Blasphemy…

He wants to dominate her senses—and her heart…

Quinton Ross has always been a thrill-seeker—so it’s no surprise that he’s drawn to extremes in the bedroom and at his BDSM club, Blasphemy, where he creates sense-depriving scenarios that blow submissives’ minds. Now if he could just find one who needs the rush as much as him…

When an accident leaves Cassia Locke with a paralyzing fear of the dark, she’ll try anything to get help. Ready to fight, she knows just who to ask for help—the hard-bodied, funny-as-hell Dom she’d always crushed on—and once stood up.

Quinton is shocked and a little leery to see Cassia, but he can’t pass up the chance to dominate the alluring little sub this time. Introducing her to sensory deprivation becomes his new favorite obsession, and watching her fight fear is its own thrill. But when doubt threatens to send her running again, Quinton must find a way to master her senses—and her heart.
