Have A Blooming Good Day

When I saw this paper (Dilly Dally from MME), it reminded me of a day in the country, surrounded by barns, flowers and fields.  So, it should be no surprise that I paired this paper up with some wonderful Cheery Lynn Designs dies to create a fun and nostaligic card.  I pictured an old church window, with vines and flowers trailing around it.

I used Judy's Blooms and Build A Flower One to create my Camelia.  (Let me just tell you the stamens that come with the Build A Flower are going to become one of your favorite dies!) I took Fiona's Magic Window, and cut away the middle of it, to create a wonderful border.

Remember, if you would like to add a window or a door to your project, then go enter it in this week's challenge for your chance to win a $20 CLD gift certificate!

For those of you in the States, I hope you have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Double or Nothing with The Beary Scrap

We've got our new challenge at the Beary Scrap - and the theme is Double or Nothing (use two of something on your design - no more, no less).

For my "double" I used two designer papers - both from the MME 12 Days of Christmas Collection. Although it's Christmas paper, there are many designs in this collection that can be used any time of the year. For my image, I die cut the shape using a Spellbinders label, then sprinkled Ultrafine Art Glitter over the area, and let it dry. Then I stamped a design from Flourishes over the top. I painted the roses with watercolors. To finish everything off, I added some Kaisercraft pearls and Seam Binding Ribbon.

We hope that you will take your chances and play along with us!

So Long Summer!

A couple of weeks ago, we took one final trip for the summer. It was a beautiful, warm weekend - and we finished it off with a paddle boat ride. I'm actually glad this summer is over - and am looking forward to many wonderful things this fall and beyond!

I used the Mischevious Papers from My Mind's Eye (although this certainly isn't a Halloween layout!) I inked all of the papers with Distress Ink. My flowers were stamped on vellum with the Sweet William set from Our Daily Bread Designs. Then I lightly sprayed them with Helmar Vellum Adhesive, and sprinkled them with glitter. My epoxies were all made with the Epiphany Crafts Studio, so that they matched my patterned papers.

Recipe:
Papers: Mischevious - My Mind's Eye
Stamps: Sweet William from Our Daily Bread Designs
Ink: Distress by Ranger
Adhesives: Helmar 450, Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive
Epoxies, Vintage Settings: Epiphany Crafts - Shape Studio Round 14, Shape Studio Round 25
Mist: Moon Shadow Mists by Lindy's Stamp Gang
Ribbon: Seam BindingLink

New Ways to Look at a Sketch

I always love the sketches from the Beary Scrap, but I think it's fun to remember that this sketch is not only great for cards! Jaimie always does a fantastic job of using the sketch for layouts, but you can think smaller too - like this tag that I made. Sure, I took a little artistic license, but, hey, that's what it's all about. Here's the sketch - See how I just squished everything in a little?

I pulled out some of the My Minds Eye Lost and Found/ Market Street collection. I always forget how beautiful this paper is, until I bring it out. I cut the tag with the Tim Holtz Tag die, and covered the patterned paper with Golden's Acrylic Medium and put a layer of tissue paper. Then I inked over some of the wrinkles using Distress Ink in Pumice Stone. You can still see the lovely paper, but it just makes it a little dreamy. I inked all of the edges of my papers with Crushed Olive. The bird and borders were cut from the paper. For final embellies, I added mulberry paper roses, Kaisercraft rhinestones, and seam binding.

Do you always follow a sketch to a "T"? or do you use it as a starting point? I hope you will play along with us, however you decide to interpret the sketch!

Chapel Road Stamps Inspiration

I have another card to share with you today using Chapel Road Stamps. I began by stamping the Butterfly Square onto white watercolor paper. I added distress inks over the image in Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, and Black Soot. I put a few drops of Dusty Concord re-inker into a mini-mister and sprayed over the image. I stamped a second image, and colored the butterfly using Aquarell watercolor crayons. I cut this butterfly out and attached it using dimensional adhesives.

Thanks for looking!

The Beary Scrap - Sketch with some fabric

For a new take on the Beary Scrap sketch, I decided to try something whimsical. The papers from My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy are certainly whimsical. So that was my starting point. I also used the Fine and Dandy stamp set to stamp my stuffed owl and the embossed cloud.
For my fabric, I cut a piece of felt using my Spellbinders. I have found if you are cutting fabric, you will get a much cleaner cut by adding a piece of paper between the die and the fabric - it gives you a little more "tooth".

You have a little less than a week to play along with our sketch - and don't forget - The Beary Scrap is holding a Guest DT call. We would love for you to give it a try!

Heartfelt Creations Wednesday

This is my very sparkly card that I am sharing on the Heartfelt Creations Blog today. Since we've just got a few days till Christmas, I thought I had better sneak this one in.

Here are the details for the card:

HCPC 3348 Cardinal Pine Cone Border

Clear Cardstock

Staz-on Ink (black)

Art Institute Glue - Dries Clear

Art Institute Metal glue tip

I stamped the cardinal border using Staz-on ink onto a piece of Clear Cardstock. Then, I chose my first color of glitter (red) and filled in the areas on my image that I wanted to be red. I sprinkled heavily with glitter and let dry (It took quite a while for this to dry completely - You can tell by looking under the clear cardstock, when the glue is completely clear). I continued this process until I had added each layer of glitter. I colored in details of the stamp using Smooch inks (the branch - Molasses, the beak -Carrot, filler on pine needles - Luscious Lime)

For my DP, I used all papers from My Mind's Eye, I Believe Collection. On the bottom layer, I inked the edges using Distress Ink in Fired Brick. My other mats were layers with red cardstock, stitched with gold thread and distressed. I attached the glittered image (glitter side down) to another layer of cardstock, using dimensional adhesives stuck on the cardinals (so it wouldn't show through to the front side).

Belles n Whistles - Sparkly Christmas

It's time for a new challenge at the Belles n Whistles Challenge Blog and the lovely Lynda has chosen a sparkly, glittery, blingy Christmas - Yay! How much fun! My card really sparkles much more in person - the paper is glittery, the Prima flowers are glittery and of course, I added stickles to my sweet Star of Bethlehem image. This was my favorite Christmas stamp last year, and I waited too long to order it - and it sold out! I had to wait until this year to add her to my collection. So, don't make my mistake, grab yours today.

Have you been playing along with our Advent Blog event? We have so many cool things planned this month - and we are giving goodies away everyday! We are also holding a Christmas Ornament contest and would love for you to play along! There will be 3 prizes awarded - the first prize is a $25 gift certificate! I have a Christmas layout to share with you today. My husband proposed two years ago on Christmas Eve, so that was the perfect occasion to scrap. I made my 3 largest flowers on this layout using Heartfelt Creations stamps and their exclusive Spellbinder dies. The large polka-dotted flower uses the HC Open Petals stamp set and the HC Perfect Petals Die cut. The red and white flowers were created using the Daisy Patch Die and the Daisy Patch flowers. I stamped holly leaves using the HC Holly Leaves Precut set and cut them out using the Holly/Ornament Die Cut set. I had so much fun building up this flower arrangement on my page using the Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies, and some Prima flowers. Now it's time to hop along to the next stop, which is my very talented DT sister, Debbie Seyer.

I am really excited that one lucky commenter on this post is going to win from Heartfelt Creations the HCPC 3335 Snowflake Medallions and the HCD - Holly Ornament Die set! You will have so much fun with these! Do you have any idea of the gorgeous snowflakes you will be able to make? Good luck!

The Beary Scrap's Anything Goes Continues!

Have you noticed how big banners are? They are everywhere! Banner stamps and papers - really cute seasonal banners? I love them! And this week the Beary Scrappy Gals are being inspired by banners. If you would like to play with along with our challenge, it's still Anything Goes (you don't have to do anything with banners).

I made a layout today featuring my sweet nephew Will. He has taught me so much about unconditional love...He makes my heart happy. I used this wonderful sparkly banner paper from MME Lost and Found - Union Square. You may also notice that fabulous Dusty Attic chipboard - Did you know that Beary Scrap will soon be selling Dusty Attic -yay!!!!

I made the flower for my layout using satin, organza and Heartfelt Creations stamps. You can see the tutorial for making these flowers here.

Thanks for looking and you still have time to play along with Anything Goes!

A New Challenge at the Beary Scrap!

Have you see our new sketch challenge at the Beary Scrap? This is such a beautiful sketch that Susan designed! We really hope that you will join in the challenge for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Beary Scrap! And we have all kinds of new goodies that will be coming in, so I know you would not have any problems spending it!

Today, I wanted to show you what a cute card you can make in just a few minutes! I used My Mind's Eye - ALPHABET SOUP Boys Paper & Accessories Kit. It had all of the papers and diecuts - so it was a snap to put it together! I inked around all of my papers with Distress Ink to give the card a more finished look. I used the MME stamp set from Lost and Found - Union Square to stamp "Fun" on the ticket. The only thing else that I added that wasn't in the kit was the ribbon that I pleated by pulling the white stitching. Easy Peasy!

All Sewn up with Karen's Doodles

It's time for another challenge at Karen's Doodles, and this week is another one of my favorite techniques - Stitching! I love the details that sewing a little bit adds to a project. For my card, I used Trick or Tweet. I hope you will play along with our challenge!

Let's get misty!

The Beary Scrappy Gals have been getting messy with Glimmer Mist! This is one of my favorite products, and we would love to have you play along with us - just make a project using a misting technqiue - Easy Peasy! Take the challenge to Spritz the Glitz!

This layout was so fun! I just kept adding more and more layers. I started off using papers from My Mind's Eye, Lost and Found - Madison Avenue. I distressed some of my edges by first dabbing on some Glimmer Mist using a sponge dauber. Next I used a Glimmer Screen and spritzed the upper left corner using Pink Ice (which was a darker pink) and then Vintage Pink for the lower corner. Then I took the same screen and sprayed it with Carmel Apple and laid it down (a little offset) to stamp the image onto my paper. So I used the screen for both a negative and positive image. I stitched on all of my layers and added tons of distressing. I hand-sewed French knots along my scalloped border. I had fun surfing the web and finding new flower tutorials, and made all of the flowers by hand.

Glimmer Misting is so much fun, there is no right or wrong, so I hope you will play along with us!

My Mind's Eye Monthly Challenge

Well, you know, I am a My Mind's Eye addict - so, of course, I had to play along with this month's sketch challenge. Besides using the sketch, you also had to incorporate black into the layout.

Years ago, there was a theme park, up near Boone, NC called the Land of Oz. It's been closed for decades, but every fall they have a festival up there. This is my nephew who got to have his face painted like his favorite Oz character - The Tin Man.

My MME papers are from Garden Vignettes (having an entire black and white paper pack really helped on this challenge!) I fussy cut a second piece of the background paper and popped the birds and branches up, so it would look like the Tin Man was walking through the forest.

Can't wait to see what next month's challenge will be!

Challenges:
MME: Sketch/black
Crafty Pad: Distressed edges
One Stitch at a Time: Embellish with your favorite things (handmade flowers)
ABC - "F" Flowers
Delightful Challenges: metal
Pixie Cottage: stitching
Cute Card Thursday: What's Bugging You

Get Krafty!

This week at the Beary Scrap, we are getting Krafty - with Kraft paper that is. Have you seen the Haunted Line by MME? Have you felt it? Oh my! It is the coolest Kraft paper with black flocked designs. I really love it! It is so much more luxurious in person than you could ever tell from a picture. I colored Bat-Tilda from Magnolia with copics, and propped her up on a Kraft tag that I sprayed Black Gold Glimmer Mist over a Glimmer Screen to produce that cool negative effect pattern. I cut the flower out of a brown paper bag and used Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist to give it a little shine.

Who would have thought you could do so many cool things with grocery bag paper!
