Sing a New Song! Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge (BBB24)!

Welcome to another month of Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge!  (BBB24)!   This month's Challenge is  The Beauty of Winged Things!  Birds, butterflies, even lady bugs -- let your creativity flow on this challenge aimed at honoring those creatures with wings on your card or creation!

A big welcome to Geri who won last month's Flourishes challenge and joins us this month on the BBB Challenge team!

For my card today I chose to go all rose with a touch of bluebird!  I am using Flourishes Spring is Sprung stamp set.  I used Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock.   I used Ranger Brushed Corduroy ink to slightly ink distress the edges of all my card  stock and designer papers.  I layered the focal image with  Spellbinder's dies.   I used the Spellbinder's Nested Pennants for the sentiment.

I decided to do Outline Color Stamping for the focal image.   To make inking a stamp with multiple colors easy, I used Ranger Ink Blending tool, replacement foam. For the colors I used Ranger Peeled Paint, Memento Rose Bud, Memento Summer Sky, and Memento Bahama inks.    I cut up one of the replacement foams  into several pieces.  I placed it in the corner and dabbed at the ink.  I then inked the stamp according to the color I wanted for that area.  I love the finished results.  Definitely want to try this look more.

I finished the card with some sewing machine stitches, paper distressing, and seam binding bow topped with gold trimmed with white centered button from my stash.  I did add two corsage pins to complete the look.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!  Make sure to check out all the other beautiful creations from the Bring Back Beautiful Designers!

Flourishes BBB22 Challenge and a QUICK TIP!

Welcome to another month of Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge!  (BBB22)!  As spring begins to sprout in many parts of the world, let's honour nature by showing off the beauty of what we find in the garden. Pick your favorite flower and make it the centerpiece of your card or creation!  For this challenge we will pick  from all the participants one true beauty favorite who will be asked to join the team for the next month's BBB Challenge, so play along and let's see all those beautiful Garden creations!

For my card today I chose the lovely Magnolias.   I have always been in awe of the magnolia flower.  It is so big and majestic yet flowery, feminine, and fragrant.    I also combined this flower set with the newly released Antique Lace background.

For the background I inked up the Antique Lace background with Versa mark and clear embossed.  I love this look on any card stock, but really appreciate it on dark rich colors.  Here, I used expresso.

For the magnolia, I really wanted to go with a sun-kissed color.  The golden sun shining from low in the late afternoon sky reflecting the rich tones from this beautifully crafted ivory flower.   I used Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock, Memento Tuxedo black, and Flourishes Copic Color Collections.  I inked one image and stamped to my Spellbinder's Romantic Rectangles die that I already cut out and ink distressed with Ranger Antique Linen ink.   I then stamped two more images and colored.  I cut out both.  For one layer I used the whole image cut out.  For the top layer I just used the larger magnolia flower and smaller flower to the right.  I used foam tape to add dimension between layers.  I finished with a sentiment die cut.  I stamped another one of the images from the set directly to the sentiment tag using Ranger Brushed Corduroy stamped off once for a lighter effect.  I then stamped the sentiment using Ranger Walnut Stain ink to mimic the rich tones from the expresso card stock background.

I finished the card with some touches of golden glitter on my magolia, a distressed inked wrinkled ribbon bow, gold metallic curly que memory thread, and pearlized button from my stash.  Love how it turned out!

I love seam binding and wrinkle ribbon.   These products are very similar.   I love the weight of it, the texture, and the versatility.  While I love to dye my own seam binding with inks and such, sometimes I really have to work in a pinch.  For those times, I have a quick tip to share.  I use Ranger Ink Blending tool, replacement foam, and Ranger inks to slightly ink distress it to alter it a bit.  It is fast and gives a rich vintage distressed feel to any color in a snap.  Dries fast and I can alter how much or how little with just the swipe of the blending tool.  Thought I'd share.  The picture up top shows a close up of the tag as well as my ink distressed seam binding.

Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful BBB20

Happy Monday, everyone!  We are here to Bring Back Beautiful (BBB20)  for March!  Paper crafting has brought the world closer.   With global reaches, we need to celebrate seasons on a global scale.  This month is all about the Beauty of Autumn or Spring depending on where you live.   Create a card or project that showcases the season of your region!

For my card I am using Flourishes
Lily of Hope stamp set.  I decided to go sort of CAS again today.  I say sort of because when you get right down to it the card looks fairly simple, but there are a few steps to get to simplicity.

I  stamped the lily onto  Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock using a raspberry and artichoke ink.  The flower is designed with such detail that I think it looks absolutely beautiful just outlined in colored.  I stamped the sentiment over top with some Memento Tuxedo black.  I finished with a seam binding bow, pearlize gold button, and three gold metallic pearls.    I am using the sketch from Card Patterns155.

Check out what the rest of the team created with the
Beauty of Autumn or Spring theme!

Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful (BBB18)!

Happy New Year!  Hope you are ready to Bring Back Beauty (BBB18)  with some Bling!  This month's challenge is all about the beauty of bling!    Can I get a WooHoo!?!  LOL!  I love some bling!

For my card I am using Flourishes Irish Blessing stamp set.  I  stamped the bunch of shamrocks with Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock.  I colored with Flourishes Copic Color Collection.  I cut out and added an assortment of hues of green glitters to the little leaves.  I finished off the greens with a few touches of clear for added shine.  And, if that was not enough, I had to add a few black glitter cardstock  Spellbinder die cuts in the corners.  I finished with a few touches of black gems to the corners and to the bouquet of shamrock handle.

Check out what the rest of the team created with the
Beauty of Bling theme!

Bring Back Beautiful Challenge

Hello and happy Monday!  I am back with the girls at Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge!  I am so thrilled to join this group of talented girls!  I just could not give up my beautiful Flourishes stamps entirely.  I love working for Flourishes.  This months challenge is all about the Beauty of a Fold.

For my card I opted to go with my modified tent fold.  It is smaller.  4.5 X 11 inches.   Plus, I always have something dangling from the center in mine.  This time I have a double sentiment diecut stamped front and back.  This fold is fairly easy to do and can be done in stages for quick assembly and mass mailings!  Got to love that!  I am using Flourishes Vintage Postcard and Holiday Greetings.   I stamped my images using Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock.

Tent style

Dual sentiments die cut and adhered together to dangle from center of tent.

 Focal image inside of card.

Folds flat for easy mailing.

Check out the rest of the Bring Back Beautiful team to see which fold they chose and what they created.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC135)!

Happy Tuesday!   Flourishes Timeless Tuesday(FTTC135) Challenge!   Beate is the challenge host this week!  Beate is challenging us to make a shape card or basic square card.  Anything other than the standard A2.   Looking forward to seeing what you create.

For my card,  I decided to actually make a shape card since I make a lot of square cards.  It was a little different for me to work with a shape.  I decided to embrace it and layer it up!  I am using Flourishes Warm Winter Wishes set for the sentiment.   I am also using another sentiment from the With Gratitude stamp set that you can earn for FREE.  I am using Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock.

I started out with a large scalloped hexagon Spellbinder's die cut and  cut it out with one of the peaks at the top with the seam.  I then cut out various patterns from my Authentique Splendid paper pad.  I ink distressed all the panels and stitched them together.   I added three  Spellbinder's embossed hearts layered together for dimension.  I  used a tiny spool to create a spool message sentiment charm.  I cut the strip of designer paper.  I stamped the sentiment repeatedly across. I used some score tape to adhere the paper to the spool and started rolling.  I added it to my card with metallic gold memory thread.  Love this stuff!

I am using the sketch from Moxie Fab World: The Shape Sketch and  the Tuesday Trigger photo for my color inspiration and bold patterns!

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC134)!

Happy Tuesday!   Flourishes Timeless Tuesday(FTTC134) Challenge!   Maki is the challenge host this week!  Use water on your card/project.  You can use images or elements that include water or use any techniques that include water as its supplies.  Looking forward to seeing what you create.

For my card, I am using Flourishes Sweet Days of Summer set.   I am using Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock.   While this set is named the Sweet Days of  Summer, I really think a few of the images in the set can still translate to a fall theme.

My card is also for SCS Color Combination Challenge(CC339)!  Mary is the host this week and she has chosen "Always So Crazed" as the trio of colors with an awesome dessert option.    I decided to start with some neutral papers from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Christmas designer papers.   I know it says Christmas, but several patterns can be used  for anything really.  I just love this neutral color.  To me it coordinates perfectly with soft suede.  I thought this color would be a perfect neutral patterned background for my focal image plus offer a warm fall hue.

I decided to use the tree image from the Sweet Days of Summer set for my card today.  First, I punched out a circle and used the negative space to make my sun for the background and sponged colored the area inside the stencil.  I then
sponged colored the tree in different shades to create a true fall color wave on the leaves using always artichoke and vintage photo.  I  used the huffing technique and huffed on my stamp (heat and moisture from breathing) then stamped the image.  I love how
the tree turned out.

All the panels were ink distressed.  I used a Spellbinder's  for focal image and frame.   I finished with some cream seam binding, bow with button, and gold memory thread.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC132)!

Happy Tuesday!  It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday(FTTC132) Challenge!   Cindy is the challenge host this week.  She is challenging us to have the sentiment as the focal point of our cards/projects this week.   Looking forward to seeing what you cook up with this fabulous recipe!

For my card, I am using Flourishes Hollyhocks set.   I stamped the floral image with a thumping technique which gives subtle areas and darker areas of the image depending where you thump.  I then stamped the sentiment in the center with Memento tuxedo black ink.  I am using Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock.  I am using My Mind's Eye Breeze designer paper. All the panels were ink distressed.  I stitched the base and horizontal panels .   I used some Spellbinder's  for focal image and frame.   I finished with some cream seam binding, bow with button, ivory memory thread, and a few tiny pearls.
