Enjoy Your Day! VLV sketch and more!

Happy Monday! I have a Verve card to share with you today using this week's Viva la Verve sketch (VLVMAY2012)!   Amber is the host this week!  Great sketch, Amber!

For my card today I am using Verve's Big Wish, Joyful Blooms, Love Story (for Marquee frame), and Tag Time  (for Tiny Sweet scallop frame).  I am also using Verve's Cut Above Lovely Marquee, Tiny Sweet Scalloped, and Rounded Scallop Frame dies.  I chose to turn the sketch to make a vertical A2 sized card.

I stamped the Marquee Frame onto the black card stock with Versa Mark to create just a subtle frame edging.  I cut apart and layered with the same frame die cut to create the tab portions from the sketch.  I then layered my elements and stamped the sentiment usingVintage cream pigment ink and embossed.  I heavily inked all the papers and distressed the edges.  I finished with a seam binding bow, flower, and tag sentiment.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

If you got here from Deb's blog you are in the right spot!

For my card I am using ODBD  From Me to You stamp set.    I just recently purchased Spellbinder's Grand Scalloped Circles so I thought I would create a scalloped circle card.  I layered with the Grand Circles using some MME designer papers.   I layered the focal image with Spellbinder's scalloped squares and regular  squares.  For the floral image I inked up the fuchsias in Memento rose bud and stamped off to create a soft floral backdrop for my sentiment.   I  stamped the sentiment with Memento tuxedo black ink using the Stamp a Ma Jig for perfect placement.  I ink distressed all the edges.  I finished with a seam binding bow topped with a coordinating paper flower.

While it is pretty clean and simple, I love the over all finished look.  Just a fun card to show you that you do not have to color flowers for a pretty look!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Congrats Grad- Go Confidently!

Happy Tuesday!  I have a Verve card to share with you today using this week's Mojo238 Sketch!  I had a fun time choosing the background paper for all these squares. I ended using words as there was a bit of a fun challenge in putting the paper back together like a puzzle.  I really thought this paper worked well for a graduation card.

For this card I am using one of the newly released Verve sets Small Celebrations along with Words of Wisdom stamp set.  I am also using Verve's Cut Above Wavy Hearts die set.

I decided to go somewhat simple with the design.   I pretty much just followed the sketch and did not really add much by way of embellishments except for a button and key charm.   I did ink distress the image and papers to create some depth.  I just wanted the paper and sentiments do all the talking literally for this card.   I finished with the Congrats Grad sentiment stamped on the heart with a dangling key charm all attached with a single button.   I love the finish look!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Go Green with GREEN and MORE!

Happy Sunday!  It is a rainy Sunday here in my part of North Carolina.  A little chilly too with temps around 58 degrees.  I must say it is a good day to spend in the craft room, though!  Hee Hee!    I have an ODBD card to share with you today.  I am playing along with this week's Shining the Light Challenge(ODBDSLC105).  This week is to "Go Green."  Literally, we can make a predominantly green card or use something recycled.  Well, I chose to do both.  It is the simple choices that are so difficult...lol!

For my card I am using ODBD God's Love, 2 Step Butterflies, and Quote Collection 1 along with the Grunge Butterfly die.  This card is pretty clean and simple for me.  I have been moving more into that direction lately.

I layered some designer  papers in patterns of green and stamped my image.  I inked distressed the edges.   For my recycle element I pulled the top layer off of some corrugated cardboard and inked distress the edges and layered with the focal image so some of the corrugated distressed texture would show.

I added some May Arts lace.  I added a heart clip to the top that  I colored black with a sharpie.  I finished with some black gems in the center of my layered butterfly.    I love the finished look.  To my surprise I did not even think it need a big honking bow!  Wonders of wonders!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Viva la Verve Sketch! The Best DAD Ever!

Happy Tuesday!  I have a Verve card to share with you today using some newly release Verve and the Viva la Verve  Week 3 Sketch!  Janelle is the VLVsketch host this week.  I love this sketch.  Thanks, Janelle!   I turned it for a vertical card.

For my card I am combining some newly released Verve with some favorites.   I am using Because of You, Protector, the newly released Super Dad and Purely Sentimental.   I  am also using the newly release coordinating Cut Above Ribbon Banner Die.

I chose to use the Because of You set as a Father's Day for the sentiments.  I used the build a sentiment technique that I have used with other cards.  The focal image requires two sentiments from the Because of You set.  Then, I stamped off to make the  navy colored word DAD lighter to give a bit of added dimension and sentiment layering.  I then added the fun ribbon banner die to the top and the bottom using the frame from Super Dad, one of the sentiments, and the star elements that come in the set.   For the other ribbon banner I used the Happy Father's Day sentiment from Purely Sentimental.  I rolled the edges a bit for some added dimension.  I inked and frayed distressed the edges and finished with a layered distress star topped with a gold tone button.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

ODBD For the Love of Tags HOP!

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni Team's bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.  This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop for the For the Love of ODBD Tag sets! Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, go to the ODBD blog for the full link list.  One of the post is a hop hot spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15 ODBD store gift certificate.  So, all you have to do is hop along and see all the creations and leave a little love!  You have until Wednesday, April 25th at 6 pm.  The winner will be announced April 26th!  Enjoy all the amazing creations using For the Love of ODBD Tag sets!

I am first on the hop today.  If you got here from the ODBD Blog you are in the right spot!

For my card I am using ODBD  Baking Tag set, Quote Collection 1, and Randi Song stamp sets.   I stamped the tag frame in Ranger Crushed Corduroy ink.  I then stamped the script image from Randi's Song set into the frame using Memento grape ink.  I stamped off so the color would be softer.  I love that while the script image is longer than the tag it is the perfect width to fit inside.   Once die cut with ODBD Custom Tag die it is a perfect fit.  I then stamped the Robert Frost quote from Quote Collection 1 inside with Memento tuxedo black ink.   I used the Stamp a Ma Jig to perfectly place the quote.  I wanted it slightly tilted within the frame offset a little from the soft script background.  I wanted to show how this tag truly can be the focal image frame for your card.  I also wanted to show how well it works with other ODBD images and stamps.

The set I am showing you is a Baking Tag set, but I am not showing you anything that shows signs of baking.  I figured the baking aspects of the set could speak for themselves      (that and the fact that I did not want to have any baking confection around me since I am trying to diet. I must say some Banana Nut Bread has been calling my name, though.  It would not have been pretty).     Anyway, I wanted to show you other uses for this set.  Take for instance the Homemade just for you stamp.  It works perfectly for the back of cards, too.  See below?  All I need to do now is just sign it.  Love the versatility.

In addition to the versatility of the Tag sets in general, I wanted to show you a few fun options you can create with just the ODBD Custom Tag die.  Once you cut the tag out once just by placing it back into the die other looks can be achieved.  I can make shorter tags, a Trading Card sized frame with rounded corners, bookplates and other fun tags.  Here are just a few different looks.  Lots of options for sure to add other fun tags to your projects.

Happy Thursday!  I am here with a card to share for this month's Diva Inspiration Hop!  I am using this week's VLV April Week 1 sketch!  Amber is the host!  Love this sketch, Amber.  I chose to do a vintage cute Easter card.  I say vintage because of the muted tones and ink distressing.   I am using Verve's Egg-stra Special, Kindred Spirits, and Tag Time,  stamp sets.  I stamped the frame image from the Tag Time set and cut out with Verve's Curvy Label Bookplate die.  Next, I stamped the sentiment and added the fleur de lis image behind in a soft pink.  I stamped the eggs, colored with copics and die cut with the egg die cut that comes in the Charming Oval die set.   I finished with a seam binding bow and a button.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!  Next on the hop is Jen D's Blog!

Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge!

Happy Monday! Welcome to another Bring Back Beautiful Challenge!   For this month’s Bring Back Beautiful challenge, we’d like to honor those in our lives that bless us with their friendship with THE BEAUTY OF FRIENDSHIP. The challenge is just that simple – make a card or creation with a friend in mind!

One of the things I love to do is mix and match Flourishes stamp sets.  For my card I am using Sweet Days of Summer, Seeds of Friendship, Fuchsias In Bloom(tag sentiment),  and Tiny Flowers and Tags (leafy image to stamp tag with).  I started with a new Spellbinder's Embossing Folder for my background. To make the embossed areas really pop I glided my Momento Rhubarb ink pad over the top til I achieved the look I was going for.  Gliding the ink pad over the top allows the color to grab onto just the raised portions.  You need to turn the card stock to make sure all the raised areas are covered.  I ink distressed the edges with Rangers Brushed Corduroy ink.

Next, I die cut the new Spellbinder's Floral Ovals using Metallic Mirrored card stock. Love these dies!   When cut with mirrored card stock the look is even more amazing if that is even possible.    I layered with a softly stenciled Spellbinder's oval die using Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock.  I used Ranger's Scattered Straw ink and using the Ink Blending Tool with Replacement foam  helps to achieve the inner glow.    I did use two copic markers (R24 and R59) from Flourishes Copic Color Collections to color the flowers in the image.   I finished with a seam binding bow, a flower, and sentiment tag.  To keep all of my panels staying put I like to use Scor-tape.   I also used some dimensional foam tape to create some depth and dimension.

As always thanks so much for stopping by! Please give a warm welcome to the newest Bring Back Beautiful designers, Claudia, Linda, and Naomi!  A big Congrats, too, to Kathy for stepping up to take the reigns to be team coordinator!    Looking forward to working with you all!
