Medical Update On Youngest Daughter...

At the Friday return visit to doc, they decided to readmit Maria to the hospital.  They were not happy with the way things looked.  We've been unable to see the wound since the first surgeries because they put a cast on each time. She had surgery Saturday and more today. The doctor has left the wound open with a wound vac.  The problem in her chest has been resolved so she is in less pain.

It will soon be a month since the accident.

Thank you for your continued prayers and healing thoughts.

Out of Pocket...Sunday's Update

11/23/2014  Arrived today shortly after Maria's procedure.  Finally talked to the weekend doctor.  It is Maria's talus bone that received the bad break.  You can read about it here.  Not the best one to break if you could choose.  Thank you for your continued prayers for healing. In 48 hours they will clean and hopefully close the sight this time.

11/22/2014  More reconstructive surgery scheduled for tomorrow.   Don't know how many more...I'm in the dark.

****11/21/2014  Screws were added to Maria's wires, The medication has finally been adjusted to fit the pain.  It's gonna be a long haul.

Zander has been doing a lot of role playing with his toys and had difficulty sleeping. He is much improved. He has been with me two nights and three days.  His dad has him now.

Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes.  I may not be able to reply to all but I could feel the prayers around them. Blessings to all.

***11/20/2014  I have Zander here with us.  He's seems to be fairing well.  The bruises are fading amazingly quick.  I can't do a thing without him with me so we kept him home from school today.

Last night's surgery was just to stabilize her ankle, I think. They put in, installed, welded...I don't know the correct term...a plate last night and repaired and stopped bleeding.  She did have trouble with the anesthesia last night. Maria has her second surgery in the morning to remove tissue and see exactly what they need to do.   Just a word from this and that nurse and from Maria who is in severe pain because they're not comfortable with over medication. Hubby has been the trooper, asking the staff, getting Maria what she's needs.  While I wait for news and keep Zander entertained.

I appreciate all your thoughts and prayers and ask you to please continue.  I will try and update here. I will answer comments and thank each of you personally as time allows.

11/19/2014  Youngest daughter was in car wreck with youngest grandson.  Zander is being kept over night.  Maria is going in for ankle surgery tonight, pins and all that stuff.

Say a prayer please.

This N That

This corral is now re enforced with big cedar posts.
Head gate installed in concrete.
Tractor Man ready for surgery today.
Gonna get a kick starter for his heart.
Think of us today.
The 'possums have been released into the wild
far from dogs and chickens.
The mole patrol remains on duty
while a rose pretends to be a pinwheel.

Lappy Appy, TummyTuck, More Flash Floods...

Surgery day was a beautiful sunshiny day.  The drive, long but beautiful.  This is Norfork Dam, yes, I do drive and snap pictures out my dirty window...watch for a Maroon PT Cruiser and get way over!
I arrived at the parts removal shop and could not find hubby.  All that remained in his room were sweat pants and his cell phone...they took him away early!!  I tracked him down in pre-surgery and they let me sit with  him til cutting time.

Hubby was aggravated because they took his underwear.   He was drugged, I was nervous so the sick jokes flew through out the room.  He was complaining about how much they shaved...he wondered if they are working here, why did they shave way down there.  The RN said, when it starts itching, don't blame him, Blame the doctor!

The surgery began.  The desk told me, my friend had come to sit with me but I was not there...and I'm thinking, who knows what is going on, I have told no one.  Well, the postmaster who I had awakened at five am to find replacement help for me was checking in...Thanks, Diana.

It was done the simple way, with tiny slits...letting the tiny surgeons down on a rope to remove the offending organ.  Then they used the tiny fire hoses to flush the space.

He also had a hernia repaired while he was under the knife.  Hubby has never had an innie navel and asked Doc to make him one, so he complied...I guess, you can say, he had a tummy tuck.  Hubby has never experienced the joy of hidden ticks or belly button lint so I guess that was kinda his dream...now he has an innie!

I think I am "punch drunk"...when you get so tired nothing comes out right and every thing seems funny.  Hope this makes sense and no one is gagging from the wonderful picture I have painted.

Hubby sent me home since I had not slept for, I forgot how long.  Came home to my children, their family and my sister cleaning my house...I may schedule more surgery for hubby if my house gets cleaned!!

We had two more storms come through, so two more flash floods in the valley...but we are very fortunate, many people in many places have not been so lucky.(Warning:  many pictures to show!)

Hubby had called earlier and told me to rest but I need to hit the road.  Thanks for all your healing thoughts and prayers.  I hope every one is staying safe from the storms that seem to be hitting many states...and as I type the clouds darken!

S**t And Shinola!!!

The day started wonderfully, warnings of storms and rain.
Took hubby to doctor and, while there,
 the tornado sirens went off.
We ske-daddled to the house,
hit the basement with everyone.
This greeted us after the last downpour.
More details on this later.  Hubby's fever spiked during the night, I rushed him to the hospital.  Appendicitis...have no ideal if I spelled that right or not, still hurts no matter how it's spelled.  No surgeon on staff that was not booked, so hubby rode in ambulance to Baxter County and will have surgery at eleven today.

I had to come home, feed the bottle calf, get Andrew to his track meet (Marcy took him), Bev had stayed with him through the night.  Maybe a dozen phone calls to find someone to cover the office.  Now, off again to attend the surgery...without a drop of sleep.

If you think you are having a bad day, I might trade you!

I Shall Not Post His Picture...

although we did take some, much to his chagrin. One in his nice surgical cap and the lovely gown they place you in to operate, and I do believe his extended his middle finger in a friendly gesture as we snapped the picture. Does he not know I could instantly make him a star?

Hubby was scheduled for surgery and no one had called two days ago so he finally called them. Yesterday he rushed to take tests to prepare for shoulder surgery. The surgery was scheduled for 11:15 and we were there by ten, they wondered where we had been. You say 11:15, we assume that is what it means, not.

Andrew and I sat and walked and read and moved around from chair to chair when one would empty in search of a more comfortable chair. We knew where Den was most of the time, but I would return and he would be gone.

Doctor comes out to report and says surgery went well, he is in recovery and we did have a torn rotor cuff with some bone spurs, all repaired, counted, removed and what other things they do to these items. They did like a spinal block on his shoulder to supposedly block the pain for thirteen hours, not working very well but do not know how badly it would have hurt with out that.

Doc takes us to another part of the hospital and says hubby will be there in few minutes. Again, not! I patiently wait for over an hour and ask where is my husband, this area did not know, then they discovered he had been moved to fourth flour orthopedic unit.

By the time I got there, I was rather upset, it showed because Andrew asked if I was mad, yes, just a little. I do believe my cheeks were sunk in and my eyes were bugged out, which my daughters always took as a sign that major repercussions were on the way. It is sad to be so easily read!

I finally found him on the fourth floor with a room of four nurses. I told them how the cow ate the cabbage and how I did not appreciate the fact that the whereabouts of my husband had been unknown for well over an hour.

Could you please step out of the room, mam, while we get your husband settled in, I started not to leave but I came to my senses and left the room and all the nurses cooed and said oh, she is missing her baby.

He looked quite pale and in pain even with the block. Andrew and I were worried that his color was not right. He wanted KFC so we left and returned with a hot chicken meal. In the mean time, the nurses had brought him a plate. Now, he has not eaten since midnight, had no drink or anything. I came armed with cold Dr Pepper and was announced an angel. After a hearty meal, both of them, his color came back. It also helped that he was able to get his underwear back on and was be able to go to the bathroom. It is amazing how naked we feel with no underwear.

The shoulder block was not helping the operation site so first a pill was given and just now a morphine shot.

Having not completely recovered from my double tooth extraction Monday, my jaw is now swollen from so much talking and my sockets are bleeding again...oh, what a delightful day!

There was no need to stay the night, he was in good hands and thanks to my outrage very eager to please hands.

I could not help having feelings of abandonment as he shooed us out. Hopefully, he will rest better without me there.

Off top of all this, I cannot get off work tomorrow to pick him up if they release him. I just went blank, who to call, my sisters both had appointments so they could not be there til after two pm and I could only pick him up after my work at 4;30. My helper was working at another office.
Ah, his sister and brother-in-law, brilliant, they have agreed to be there at eight am in case he is released. Thank God!

And my swollen jaw has taken two ibupropen and am heading to bed.
