I Can't Believe...

... or *be leave* this year is almost over! Coming home from our walk today I noticed how the last of the leaves of 2010 are hanging on, draping the trees like a red frilly skirt, and the mossy path to the front door has a lovely red carpet welcoming me home.

Snapped !

Today I snapped lots of pictures with the macro setting on my digital camera & small paper light box while babysitting. I have a 12 yr old girl "Mo" staying with us until Sunday or Monday morning and I had my little Doodle bug. He is smitten with her. It's so cute. Not even 2 and trying to impress the ladies! I have to say it's nice not being the only girl in the house! So fun! She is an amazing little artist and likes to draw Anime. Here's the mermaid she drew & painted today! Pretty awesome for 12 ! Here's the paper light box I made, which works better than I thought such a simple thing would! 3 pieces of white card stock is what I used. The paper folded in the rear I used to close or open the back of the tent with, what a super simple way to adjust the light!

My yard is full of "Miner's Lettuce". (This plant is the inspiration for my wonky flowers.)

Synapse & Cardia

Last night & today I've been working on some digital collages for my son. He gave me a little idea of what he wanted and I got to work on it. He likes the girl & tree which is why I have done several. You may notice the background photo in one from a few weeks ago that I took at the creek. I thought it was for a inspiration poster for his work but turns out it's for his album cover. Duh. Synapse & Cardia, well he does work in the medical field & it was an email. I'm easily confused, the ol' neurons weren't working. hahaha I've had fun doing them & I've stayed inside where it's nice & cool. I wish I had a better photo program. Mine is super basic. I had to put my little Doodle Bug in one! These are a few of my favorites so far, I didn't want to post them all. Just curious...which one do you like the best?

Creek & Creeky

Yesterday my hubby & I took a walk down by the creek. The creek is about 5 houses down the street from my house. I really should go walking down there more often. It was so pretty & relaxing. Towards the far end where the waterfall & dam is I almost felt like I was in an episode of Lost! hahaha *already missing that show* I don't know what kind of trees these are but I think they are beautiful. They look like bottle brushes. I took my camera with me and managed to get these pictures before twisting my ankle! I have been such a klutz lately! Maybe I'm getting old & creeky! LOL I shook it off & kept on walking, it wasn't until later that it started throbbing. It's definitely a sprain. So last night was very uncomfortable and I had to hobble around, up & down the stairs. I put ice on it & soaked it. It's better today but still sore. I'm going to try to stay off of it but with all the stairs in my house it's kind of hard to do.

While we were down there I checked on those painted rocks (guirella art) I had place around and they were all gone but one! They didn't last long. I hope the person or persons who took them are enjoying them! I may paint some more to take down there but paint them on bigger rocks.

My Little Creek On The Corner

My husband and 2 poodles, Roadie & Reeda took a walk this morning. I brought along my camera to take a picture of the creek we walk over which is just a block from my home. Most of the banks are covered with wild blackberries and in the spring it's really pretty. When my little brother Jimmy the Fisherman came to visit he took a couple of walks to get out of the house. After one of his walks he asked me if I had a round hoop and some netting. We scrounged through my collection of bits and pieces saved over the years to my husband's dismay. We found a wire circular ring which I had saved who knows how long because I figured I could use it for something one day. Then we found some hot pink tulle netting. I have no idea where I got that from but if it's fabric related I have to save it. (ok so it's not just jars I have a problem with!) He found some fishing line in a tackle box from the 70's that is only a garage decoration. I had no idea what he was doing. He said he was "making something". He grabbed a hot dog and left. An hour or so passed and in walks Jimmy with a bucket full of crawdads! We were all in shock & awe of him! We cooked them up and had a little crawdad party on the patio. The kids felt a little creepy about eating them at first but they are just like me and will try anything once. The next day Jimmy walked us all down to the creek and showed us how to catch them with what I thought was a craft project! Every time I walk by the creek I wonder how many crawdads I could catch.

This is a picture of me on the little bridge over the creek this morning.
The photo is not altered just cropped a little.
I guess my aura is red today! Weird.

Happy Independence Day!

Hope you are having a relaxing 4th of July! I am. I haven't really done anything today but talk on the phone! The 4th of July for most is full of great childhood memories. I don't have a lot of childhood memories of the 4th. The best that I have are memories I made as an adult and with my children. My father was in a car accident and died on the 4th of July when I was very little, so it was never a fun day for my mother & because of that, not much fun around our house, we were always reminded, and she didn't like us to go anywhere. You know the saying...If mama ain't happy..... Funny how when you're young you swear you won't be like your parents, then as an adult you find yourself doing some of the same things that they did! My husband's band is playing today and I have been having fleeting moments of worry about him driving around. I know it's silly, and what are the odds of me losing my husband the same way my mother did anyway?!

My sister, my real sister, not a Swell Sister, just opened an Etsy shop yesterday! http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6012892 She is finally going to sell some of her beautiful photography! Contrary to me, she loves to garden and take pictures of nature.

Speaking of Swell Sister's I gave my first little class last night. Another Swell Sister was suppose to teach the knitting part but couldn't come so I taught both. I have taught lots of people to crochet & knit but always one on one. It was at a Swell Sister's house in Sacramento. She does beautiful glass work. My husband would have gone nuts at her house! It was decorated in all kinds of music memorabilia. The bathroom was done in a Beatles theme & Yellow Submarine. I admire her creativeness. With him being a musician and Beatle fan I'd probably have a hard time getting him to leave! Anyway, I was really proud of everyone. They picked it up faster than I thought they would. Crochet & Knitting is kind of difficult to learn but once you find your groove it's really easy & fun.
