Finally Feeling Like Fall

Wednesday JJ & I had a blast being "Explorers" in the backyard. These are a few of the things we found out there. It's been a while since I posted his picture. Can you believe he just celebrated his 2nd birthday?! He's an "Amma's" boy and I love it! He copies everything I do, says everything I say (which may not be a good thing sometimes!) I treasure my Wednesdays with him. We are getting a lot of great big acorns this year. They are everywhere. Maybe that means lots of rain!? I sure am looking forward to the first rainy day.

So Excited!

My first tomatoes! I was so excited to see them today because I was worried I wouldn't get any, and not just because of my big purple thumb! I don't have a picture but we have a few old shoes around the veggie garden because a deer left it's hoof print right by a tomato plant that it nibbled the top right off of. So far it hasn't been back. I love to smell tomato plants almost as much as I like to eat them. A few years ago when I was concocting & designing fragrances, *one day I may sell some*, I bought some tomato essential oil to use as a top note. To my disappointment it turned out to be so nasty! Nothing like the growing plant smells!

My sweet little garden helper!

More orange! hahahaha

What Day Is It?!

Wow! I'm sorry it's been a week since I blogged. My computer is still acting up which makes it difficult to be on the computer for any length of time. We are now at our last option, wiping out the hard drive & if that doesn't work, new computer. I miss dropping on blogs & feel out of the loop with my favorites & Entrecard buddies.
I have been watching my little JJ for the kids while they move, so I haven't finished the Drama Queen painting or anything else on canvas. I promise I will post a pic as soon as I have it finished. Thank you all for your sweet comments. I painted over the creepy crown I had painted & I'm liking it much better. I know my paintings look easy but honestly some take days or weeks, but in this case it's just because I haven't been working on it very hard. I'm watching JJ tomorrow too. I will get to paint on Saturday while Hubby is at a Sharks game in San Jose. Go Sharks! JJ is getting quite the personality and keeps me laughing & running. I'm proud that he has such a sweet little heart. He loves to share everything. Everything is a "dog" or a "duck" too. When he was here the other day he was talking like crazy, all baby talk but truly carrying on a conversation. It was so cute & excruciating trying to hold in a belly laugh.
Saturday my son was in a Battle of the Bands at Club Retro and his band is moving up to the next battle! Hurray Even The Atlantic!
Big Thank You Shout out goes to Abbasgirl for including my Christ painting in her wonderful Etsy Treasury!

Only One Angel ?

Nope they aren't Angels but I think they are almost as sweet.
You know me & color... Well working with oil pastels I'm finding is a little challenging. I can't tell you how much paper I've wasted playing with them. Actually I don't feel it was wasted just the price of practice. I've gone through a bunch of it. I haven't really worked with them much so I've been having fun. If any of you have any tips on using oil pastels I'd love to hear them! I guess I am on a crayon/oil pastel kick for some reason. I listed these on Ebay today with a starting bid of only $0.99. They are soft & pretty. Look so much better in person. I think they would be really pretty framed, especially with a black mat. Click here to put your bid in! I have them listed for only 5 days because I will be out of town next Friday. I'm so excited, but not as excited as my Hubby is. We are going to Las Vegas to see the Circus Soliel LOVE Beatles show. He has wanted to see that since it opened. We are meeting friends there then driving to their house to visit for a day or so.

I went & played with my little JJ (the only Angel in this post) yesterday and had so much fun. His mom gave me a facial too so it was a really nice day. She got her license a few weeks ago. I'm very proud of her. I guess I was so relaxed that I could hardly keep my eyes open driving home. I hate that don't you? I got lots of slobbery kisses and loved every minute of it. He was playing the piano today at a friends house. I don't think there is any doubt that we are gonna have another musician in the house.

What's New!

I started my morning with a big cup of coffee & fingers crossed that my computer would work for longer than a few minutes. I listed a necklace handmade by Teri Martin with my art as a charm. She sells these charm necklaces in 2 galleries in Downtown Disney and is doing quite well. She handpicks all the beads & disks to match the art with great attention to detail. I truly wish a picture could capture the real thing. She also paints unique & colorful jewelery boxes. I think her necklaces & boxes are wonderfully whimsical! I plan to list more necklaces as soon as I can. If you are interested in this one you can purchase it here.

I am watching JJ today and tonight is his 1st sleepover. He was a little angel all day and went to bed without a whimper. He was so funny. He would bark at the dogs & they would bark back. So we had a barking match going on for a while and lots of laughter. The other day we gave him a lemon & waited in anticipation for him to make an awful face. We were belly laughing when he didn't even wince. He loved it! We looked at baby pools the other day. Today I wished we had bought one because I would have been in it with him. It was so hot! ugh. I starting to pine for rain and yarn. I don't know why but this time I year I always want to knit or crochet. Maybe because it's a good excuse to just sit inside where it's cool.

Oh Happy Day!

There are several people that have really made my day today! A big Thank you goes out to Mel Avila Alarilla At Literatii-An Artistic Blog for a wonderful surprise feature & critique on his blog. I am very flattered, honored and humbled. To Suzi at Art With a Touch of Whimsy for The award is for "Great Attitude and Gratitude" blog award. So sweet! I will pass it along soon. Also Thank You Natalie at Bubbles Variety Shoppe for including my Peaceful Beach Angel in her very creative Etsy Treasury! You can check it out here. I had my little Doodle Bug today and he wore me out! I'm exhausted. I could go to bed right now but I have to stay up to watch the Bachelorette. (I know. I'm a hopeless romantic.) He only took 1 short nap and then he turned into the Energizer Bunny. He was into everything and danced danced danced! My son said he crashed out the minute they got in the car. He's been making this scrunchy face that's so cute. I didn't teach him that either. haha I did a few pages in my journal the other night that I wanted to share one with you but honestly I don't have the energy to scan it, upload and post it. Tomorrow...

Angels & Daydreaming

A big Thank you to all those who commented and were concerned for me and my "kitchen nightmare"! That was so sweet.

Today I am babysitting my little Doodle Bug JJ. His mom and dad have a friend in from Chicago and they are taking her to San Francisco. When they were asking me where they should eat my mind wondered into Chinatown, The Wharf, North Beach/Little Italy, The Mission District, and now I am craving a trip to the City. Daydreaming about it. SF is only a 2 hour drive, so I can't believe it's been so long since I've been there. Every time I go I have so much fun. I hate going over the bridges to get there though and there is no getting out of going over one. I hate all bridges but especially the Bay Bridge and in almost 30 years I've only gone over the Golden Gate twice!
JJ is crawling now so I may lose a pound today or throw my back out. haha He's so darn sweet! He has a little cold but is still being an angel. It's hard not to constantly kiss him. I made him a little stuffed baby toy last night. I will not be showing a picture of it. My son and I were belly laughing at it last night and we decided that if I showed a picture of it right after the kitchen incident that you would all really think I've lost my mind. LOL But hey JJ likes it!
Last night I listed this sweet big brown eyed angel on Etsy.

Have a great weekend!

Wordy Wednesday!

Wow I've made 55 post already! Make sure you read them all haha! Time is flying! I completed some more angels that I was working on and will be listing them on Ebay later today. I painted another angel on an old LP record, which I think is becoming my new addiction! I even like the squeak the brush makes when I paint on it! I love melting the vinyl too. I am also listing one that I had already hanging around because she's not one of my favorites, however, I've learned that sometimes the ones I don't particularly care for others really like. So what the heck I'm sending her off to a new home hopefully.

I went to a Career Artist meeting last night which is a subgroup of the Swell Sister Society. I met some really nice women that I haven't met before! I feel so lucky to be a part of such a talented group of women. I posted a picture of my new Indie project collaborative piece on the Swell Sister site and below. I played around with my modeling paste. I can't wait to get started! Last time it was so much fun. I'm getting my final piece back, the one on the large piece of broken wood on Thursday night and can't wait to see it. I will post the transformation when I get it. The next few months are going to be very busy with the projects, meetings, getting ready for the gallery show and staying on top of my work! I saw my grandson yesterday and he is growing fast! He was so good and after his feeding stayed awake and alert for a long time. It was nice spending time with him and his mother for a little while. They asked me to paint some pictures for his room and I've been dragging my heels worrying about what & how to paint it, but after seeing his cute little room yesterday I have got to get busy!

I would just like to take a moment and thank all my buyers if you are reading this. I get the most wonderful emails, so many of you go above and beyond to send them to me and I appreciate and treasure each one. Also a thank you to all the people who comment on my art almost daily. It truly nourishes my spirit and keeps me motivated to keep going and not go back to life in a cubicle!
