Jet Setters

Miles and I are getting ready for a quick trip to DFW tomorrow. We're flying up in the morning and home in the evening, meeting with a realtor, renting our own little car, and eating out for lunch AND dinner. Should Miles wear a business suit? :)

The best part is, we're looking at HOUSES! Because yes, dear friends, who have stayed with me through thick and thin, we are, in fact, MOVING. And we are excited. And sad. But trying not to dwell on the fact that we're leaving so much behind. It's not that far from here, hopefully our local friends will come visit. You know who you are. :)

We're trying to dwell on the fact that Neal is actually finishing his quasi-lifetime of schooling and getting a good job. Dwelling on the fact that he will no longer be performing slave labor at the dental school. That people will pay him to do root canals instead of us paying them. Dwelling on the amazing blessing it is that we sold our house. Dwelling on how wonderful it feels to have made it this far and have been happy the whole time, despite our perpetual student status and our constant refrain of "when we're done with school . . . " or "maybe when Daddy gets a job, you can start karate (or insert other parental promise here)" . . . We feel like life is finally really getting going for us, and we couldn't be more excited.

We'll be moving mid-June, taking a couple of weeks to settle in and visit family, then Neal will get started.

We're off to find a house; wish me and Miles luck!

Congrats to Neal!!! When I came out here to look for a house, everything starts to blur together. Just a suggestion, take VERY detailed notes. (:

Perhaps you could be more specific for us un-Texas-savvy folk. Does this mean you are moving to Dallas? And how far is Dallas from Houston? Just curious.

congrats!
if you are moving to the DFW area, make sure to look at houses in frisco. it's SO nice there!! that's where my SIL is who we just visited & we loved it. we would totally live there! good luck house hunting & good job selling your house.

Congratulations! That is so exciting. I hope you find just the right house on your trip!

laura, we're moving north of Dallas/Fort Worth. I don't want to get too specific, so we'll leave it at that. Texas is quite large, but the distance between the two largest cities (houston & dallas) is only about 4-5 hours.

I am so excited for you. If you are looking at rentals to start, go for a big house, with a big yard, so you will know how much work it is to care for before you buy the equivalent...

This is such a great time in your life!

simply cannot wait to see/hear all about it. and, i must add, it's cheaper to fly D to DFW, so we are improving, yes? :D

Yea! What a fun trip it will be. I totally thought you were moving to Tulsa; I'm SO confused. Must've missed a post in there somewhere. My maternal grandma hails from big D and even though she's been in AZ since she was 18, she still has the most endearing accent! I wonder if you've picked up any accent in all your years in TX? What an exciting time; congratulations!

HAVE FUN! You're funny.

to those confused, i don't blame you. i didn't publish all the gorey details, but basically, we were had by the people in tulsa. the job fell through in february. so much for my intuition about them being great people.

we're excited to stay in texas, though. this opportunity is really great for neal and his future plans.

I don't know what my children will do without you guys across the street! I imagine we will go through many times of "can we go see if Audrey and Parker can come outside" before it actually sinks in. So happy for you though!

We visited Dallas a few months ago and it was fun, we loved the city. It isn't that far, at least from where we live, it's about 3 and a half hours. Good luck with house hunting!
