Random Thought Thursday

This photo was taken in 2000, in Rhodes, a Greek island in the Aegean Sea. It's me and Julianne, and as she has been on my mind a lot these past weeks, I thought this photo appropriate.

Random thoughts from today:

  • Julianne has been in my thoughts and prayers not only because she's been sick with the flu, but because she is far, far away in Brazil and not getting any hugs. Her transition to her life and job down there has been difficult, and I wish I could hug her and see her smile. Love you, Jooj!
  • I was supposed to have a stress test/echocardiogram at the cardiologist this week, but when I arrived all prepared, they informed me that their equipment had just broken. So next Tuesday it is. Argh.
  • I'm getting excited for our road trip to Arizona at Thanksgiving. Too bad that's still weeks away! I want to smoosh this baby's cheeks.
  • I bought myself my first iPod today. On a whim, sort of. I figured it was high time, so I got a cute little green nano. I've been having fun getting my tunes all sorted out.
  • We have a lot of yard work to do, but we have yet to get motivated. Perhaps a trip to the nursery is in store this weekend.
  • We are going to the pumpkin patch tomorrow after school. A fun tradition, and the weather should be ideal!
  • The UPS man just delivered a fancy, warm dog kennel to our door. Not for the dog, but for the tortoise, Bruiser.

Random Thought Thursday

I thought I'd adopt my friend, Natalie's practice of posting "Random Thought Thursday." Because why not. Here I will share random thoughts and photos from our life.
  • There's a tradition amongst our friends here in Texas to go ice skating on one of the last days of summer. Just to get us in the mood to think about cooler weather, to see if we have any jeans that fit, and because we're kind of sick of going swimming. So we skated last Thursday with some friends, had hot cocoa to finish up, then went home and put our shorts back on!
  • I'm giving a talk on Sunday, based upon Elder David Bednar's talk here. It's a great talk, concise and direct, so I don't have too much to be worried about. Except that I'm a terribly boring speaker, get all shaky and have a dry throat the whole time. Oh dear, just let it be Monday already!
  • I've started doing some editing/proofreading work for Eliza Magazine, which is making the move to mainly online-only publication (a new trend in magazine publishing). It's been fun, but I had forgotten so many rules about things like hyphens and italics. Great refresher, and though I'm not paid, I do get my name in "print!"
  • I discovered a great new singer the other day via a blog I read. Check out Zee Avi, she's Malaysian and has a really delightful sound.
  • Miles and I met his new preschool teacher today. She is sweet, and he seemed happy to be there. He starts going twice a week next Tuesday. I'm hoping to start (maybe) exercising a little, going to the temple at least twice a month, and am looking forward to the big hugs I'll get every Tuesday and Thursday when I pick him up at 2:15.
  • Primary is kind of taking over my life.
  • I have another new nephew, little David, born to my brother, Lincoln, and his wife, Mimi last night. I am totally cuckoo for all these new little boys in my family, I want to eat them up! Isn't he precious? We're so happy that those two are parents, they've waited so patiently, and they sure got a cute one!
