Bound to be Re-Released at 99 cents

If you've been following my posts, you know that I've gotten my rights back to several erotic romances that had been released by a couple of my publishers who have since closed their doors. I'm in the process of designing new covers and formatting them for re-release. The first one was A Taste of Honey and you can read about it here if you missed it.

The next re-release, Bound by Design, was my best-selling title. I was thrilled when it was selected to be one of three novellas to be part of Binding Ties, a Samhain print anthology, as well as released on its own as an e-book. If you didn't catch it the first time around and you like sexy and emotional romances with bondage, spanking and power exchange, you might want to get it now at only 99 cents!

Blurb:

Jenn spends her days crafting custom-designed slave jewelry, but she’s vowed to never wear a collar again. When she meets Scott, an architect with a dominant side, she’s forced to confront her submissive needs. They are both healing from past mistakes and must learn how to design a new relationship with the help of ropes and chains and a whole lot of trust.

Excerpt:

“I’m attracted to you, Jenn. You may have guessed I have a great interest in bondage myself. In domination and submission. I’m interested in seeing where this night might take us.” He caught her gaze and she felt drawn into his presence. “So I have to ask you. Do we continue or do we end this now?”

Did she want to see where this night would go? Her body voted yes. After all, her best friend vouched for him. And she liked him already. He had a sense of humor. He was as sexy as the devil. He knew her secret weakness.

Or should she get the hell out before she got in too deep? Because, already, she could imagine getting in deep with this guy.

She could barely breathe. “I don’t know.” Jenn winced at the cry in her voice. “I’m sorry. It’s just, I wasn’t expecting anything like this tonight. I…I’m turned on, yes, but I don’t know if I’m ready…if I want to…”

He covered her hand with his. “Why don’t you tell me about your experience with bondage?” He slid his hand up and shackled her wrist with his fingers again. “Was it so terrible that you resist it even when your body craves the binding?”

She looked away from him, staring into the shadows surrounding them. She did crave it. The security of the bondage. The freedom of letting go of the control she normally held onto with an iron grip. But she didn’t want to lose herself like she did before. Could she bring herself to admit her experiences with Rob?

He cupped her chin and turned her face so he could study her. “Talk to me, Jenn. What are you afraid of?”

“Losing myself,” she blurted.

“No, you should never be afraid of losing yourself. You’ll find yourself, Jenn, if you surrender to your needs.”

She shrugged and looked down at her hands clenched in her lap.

“What happened?” He stroked her hair, soothing her nerves. “Was it recent?” His voice hardened.

“Did someone around here treat you badly?”

“No. It was back in college.”

He cursed. “A boy playing at being a Dom?”

“I guess. But then I guess I was playing at being a sub.” Neither one of them had really known what they were doing. But when it was right, it had been amazing.

“I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience.” He kissed her softly. “So basically your body responded even though he didn’t treat you right?”

“He didn’t always treat me badly,” she said, but she shivered as she remembered being tied up and left for hours while he got drunk with his buddies. “I think the power trip got to him.”

“A Dom’s first consideration always should be his sub,” Scott told her. He grasped her shoulders with his strong hands. “I want to show you the way it should be. Let me show you how good it can be, Jenn. Give me the weekend.”

“The weekend?” Was he crazy? “I honestly don’t know if I want to try bondage again, not even tonight.” Although if her body had any say, they’d definitely be having sex tonight, and she probably wouldn’t complain if there were ropes involved.

“I can smell your arousal, Jenn. I know your body is aching for a taste of bondage again.” He ran his hand up her thigh, dragging the skirt of her dress up with it. “Let me show you the way a Master should treat his slave.”

Jenn licked her lips and couldn’t move, couldn’t speak. Did she want to be his slave, even for one night?

“Let’s try something,” he said softly, seductively. “If you don’t like it, I’ll walk away from you and never bother you again.” He leaned over her and took one wrist in each hand. “Put your hands behind your back and grasp the slats.”

She nodded and leaned forward slightly to let him guide her hands behind her. He curled her fingers around the wood. “Now close your eyes.”

Jenn glanced around them and didn’t see anyone else nearby. Darkness was falling around them. She looked up at Scott, he was already difficult to see except for that white shirt. What would it matter if she closed her eyes?

“Jenn,” he said in a tone that told her he didn’t like to repeat himself. “Close your eyes.”

She closed her eyes and held on tight.

A Cowboy and a Lady

Over the next few weeks, I will be releasing several erotic romance titles that had been previously released through Ellora's Cave and Samhain Publishing, both of which have closed their doors. I've gotten the rights back to all of them and have been designing new covers and formatting them for re-release.

A Taste of Honey had been included in a Caveman anthology, Seasons of Seduction IV, back in 2007. Ten years ago! But this title was never released on its own. So now it's almost like a new release!

Blurb:

The cowboy and the lady

Cowboy Jake Manning is nursing a beer and a heart that’s been stomped into a million pieces when classy Shauna Montgomery asks him to dance. Jake knows better than to get involved with another sweet-smellin’ woman, but what the hell, it’s just a dance.

Shaunna had been planning a little revenge against the boyfriend who dumped her but the steamy dance floor seduction leaves both her and Jake hot and hurting. They end up at Jake’s place for a lesson in power, control and passion.  But they’ll have to get past their differences to learn to trust again.

Excerpt:

Shauna Montgomery wasn’t thinking about the fact that she was in the middle of a crowded dance floor as she sucked face with the sexiest cowboy on the face of the earth. She wasn’t thinking of that bastard Bobby and how she hoped his eyes were popping out of his head right about now.

She couldn’t think at all.

Her body was awash with sensations. The raw, musky scent of his skin. The heat of his body wrapped around her. The hardness of his arousal as it rubbed against the zipper of her jeans. The taste of beer and something else, something primal, as they tangled tongues.

She should have been embarrassed. She should have been horrified that she was rubbing her body up against a perfect stranger. In public yet. Letting his hands roam all over her. Wanting his hands on her.
The sensible switch in her brain must have been turned off. Her body was in control now.  She moaned and pressed even harder against him. Who was she kidding? No part of her was in control, she was simply reacting. Her body throbbed with desire. Her panties were wet. Her nipples prickled with need.

His cream-colored shirt was soft as she gathered the fabric in her fists. She wanted to pull him closer. Wanted to crawl inside him. What was it about this cowboy that made her feel more intensely than she ever had before?

They weren’t even pretending to be dancing anymore. His lips were bruising as they captured her mouth, feeding on her, drinking her in. His hands tangled with her hair and held her head in place. She grasped his muscular upper arms and held on tight.

Gradually, the kissing gentled. She wanted to cry when he slid his tongue out of her mouth, leaving it empty. He lightly brushed his lips over hers and she felt the smile that lifted his lips.

“You think that did the trick?”

“What?” The kiss really had turned her brain to mush.  She struggled to focus on his words. “What trick?”

His dark eyes sparkled with amusement. He probably thought it was funny that he’d kissed her senseless. No, not senseless. Her senses were on overload. Brainless. That’s what she was now.

“Did we teach the jerk a lesson?”

The jerk? Oh. Bobby. She just nodded and stared at that lean, rugged face. Laugh lines were etched into his tan skin. What kind of idiot woman would dump this handsome cowboy?

He turned his head and the soft, brown cowboy hat shaded his face. Damn. “Looks like the band’s taking a break.”

Her brain started working again. The music wasn’t throbbing through the speakers any longer and the other dancers had returned to their seats, but they were still in a clinch in the middle of the dance floor. And somehow she’d ended up straddling one of his thighs. Now she felt a warm blush creep over her face. She slowly peeled herself away from him even as her body whimpered at the loss.
Through the buzz of arousal still running through her, she felt a burst of triumph. She didn’t have to look at Bobby to know he’d watched every stroke, every touch, every pulse of their bodies on the dance floor. She hoped he was hard and hurting and regretting the fact that he’d tossed her aside with complaints like she was too bossy and spoiled and lacking in sex appeal.

Ha. After one dance with the cowboy, she could tell Bobby a few things in which he was lacking.

Things this cowboy definitely wasn’t lacking. The guy had come to her rescue like a knight in faded denim. He’d held her in his arms as if she was something special. And acted as if she had tons of sex appeal.

Acted.

That’s right. Shauna couldn’t forget that this was all an act. Make believe. Put on for Bobby’s benefit. The cowboy was probably anxious to get rid of her now. She’d be sorry to see him walk away from her, but he’d done more than his part.

Shauna took a deep breath and pasted a wide smile on her face. “Thanks for the dance, cowboy.”

A Taste of Honey is only 99 cents and available now!

I'll be posting each title here as it re-releases, so check back here or like my Facebook page to get updates if you enjoy steamy romances.

Another New Cover- Silken Canvas

If you've been following my posts here, you know that two of my publishers have closed their doors and I've received the right back to all my titles. I'm in the process of getting them ready to re-release and part of that process is getting new covers. And part of THAT process, was learning how to design covers myself.

If you like your romances on the steamy but still emotional side, and you didn't read it while it was available from Samhain, I'd like to recommend Silken Canvas.

Brendan Cole burst onto the art scene in a blaze, creating amazing works of art from beautiful women. Recently, though, reviews suggest that his brilliance is burning out. The tortured artist arranges a meeting with his ex-lover and muse, who’d walked out on him years before. He’s certain that they can once again create the breathtaking images that will silence the critics forever.

When Ashley Mancuso runs into Brendan at an art gallery, their attraction is as hot as ever. Though she swore to never again take second place to his art, she finds herself agreeing to an impromptu photo shoot. Once in front of his lens, five long years of suppressing her kinky side melts away—and shakes her resolve to keep it strictly business.

One spellbinding session after another makes it impossible to resist talking of fantasies and long-buried desires. But when pain and pleasure get all mixed up with reality, the fears and insecurities that drove them apart create a rift wide enough for danger to find its way in…

He's Back!!!

Paolo Mancini is back! After Samhain Publishing closed its doors, all my titles with them became unavailable and I will slowly be re-releasing them all myself. The first project was to get new covers for the 5 Paolo's Playhouse stories, then get them formatted and back out into the world. I may have mentioned that I took a big leap and designed my own covers for the first time. After a lot of trial and error, I really like the way they turned out. If you didn't get a chance to read these sexy, emotional stories the first time around, you should give them a try!

Paolo’s Playhouse. A new playground for consenting adults. Playrooms for every interest or desire. Bring your own plaything or we can provide one for you. We’ll help your fantasies come to life.

The first four are short, perfect to read just before bed. I wrote #5, Playing For Real, which is longer, after readers asked for more with Paolo and Julianne. If you haven't read them, I hope you'd like to give them a try. If you have read them, please consider leaving a review at your favorite spot. They mean so much.

While I'm working on a new project, I'll be getting the rest of my backlist ready to upload. I'll keep you informed here, but if you want to get a notification in your inbox, you can sign up for my mailing list here

And here's a teaser from Lucky Me!

Just get it over with.

Diane Varney pulled her old Buick into the long driveway leading to the two-story gray house on the outskirts of Best Bay. It had been called the Harper Homestead for as long as she could remember. The driveway was plowed, the walk shoveled. It looked like Jason was doing a good job helping his father while he was down. Ford had to be going crazy not to be able to do it himself.

The sunlight glittered off the smooth expanse of snow behind the house, and the sky was that brilliant blue that seemed to appear only on crisp winter days like this. The texture of the clouds overhead made her fingers itch with the desire to capture the scene.

There’d been a time when she carried a sketch pad with her all the time, when every moment was an inspiration. It had been so long since she’d indulged her creativity she worried it was too late to recapture. But her appointment this afternoon wasn’t what was causing the nerves zinging through her body at the moment.

Stop dragging your feet.

Diane picked the take-out box off the seat beside her and got out of the car. After the damned fool had his accident, she’d heard that nearly every single woman of a certain age in the area had high-tailed it over here, offering home-cooked meals, baked goods, and who knows what else to the injured widower.

Diane had made sure she wasn’t part of that crowd.

But here she was, stopping by with food after all. Diane pushed the doorbell and heard it echo through the house. Ford had to have expected Jason to come back with his lunch, but he didn’t answer the door. Of course, his son probably would have walked right in.

Couldn’t Ford get around well enough to come to the door? Had all those other women simply walked into the house with their cakes and chicken casseroles? Diane rang the doorbell again. When there was still no answer, she began to worry. What if he’d fallen again? What if he was lying unconscious or bleeding?

She tested the doorknob and it turned in her hand. Her heart began to race as she pushed it open slightly. “Ford?” she called out hesitantly.

“Well, get in here.” His deep, gravelly voice rumbled through her system.

The front door opened into a large foyer. The last time she’d been in this house was after the funeral of her old friend, Irene, who died suddenly of a brain aneurysm. How many years ago was that now? Diane kicked off her boots, hung her coat on a hook by the door and then headed into the hall that ran down the middle of the house. Pictures of members of the Harper family going back several generations covered the walls of the narrow space. “Ford?”

“In here.”

Following the sound of his voice, she turned right into the living room. He sat in an old recliner, wearing a gray T-shirt and black gym shorts. His legs were raised, one encased in a cast from toe to thigh. Her gaze finally made it past his broad shoulders and she caught a glimpse of the face that she’d thought was amazing when he was younger and had simply improved over the years.

She swallowed. Butterflies in the stomach was a cliché for a reason.

His thick hair was now a shiny silver and the wavy strands were tousled as if he’d run his fingers through them. He obviously hadn’t shaved in a few days and if she’d been close enough she might have reached out to brush her fingers along his light scruff before she realized what she was doing. His blue eyes didn’t sparkle this morning as much as they used to. Dark circles gave away his lack of sleep.

His lips lifted in a small smile. “Hey, Di. What are you doing here?”

She was going to ignore the butterflies. “You look like shit.”

He barked out a small laugh. “I could always trust you to cut out the bull.”

She set the take-out box on the arm of the long, upholstered sofa. The small table beside his chair had a stack of dirty plates. Three remotes were lined up on one of the arms of the chair. She didn’t see his crutches.

Diane fought the instinct to pick up and straighten. “Jason asked me to stop by with your burger. He had to leave in a hurry.”

“I heard the rescue call go out, thought it might be something like that.” He shifted in his chair and looked around. For the missing crutches, perhaps?

“Need some help?” She couldn’t resist making the offer. She should turn around and get out of there but she couldn’t leave him like this.

He grimaced, his hands gripping the arms of the chair. “I don’t want any help.”

She folded her arms. “I know you don’t want any help, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need some.”

“I’m sick of needing help.” Ford dropped his head back. “Hell, I’m too old for this shit.”

“Don’t tell me you walked under that ladder before you climbed up it.”

“I would never do that.” He grinned then and her heart did a flip. “Just like I’d never open an umbrella inside a building and I always pick up a penny when I find one. You taught me well, Di.”

He was too damn cute but he wasn’t going to distract her. “What were you doing up on a ladder in the first place?”

“The gutters needed cleaning out.”

“You can hire someone to do that, you know.”

His eyes narrowed. “I’m perfectly capable of cleaning out my own damn gutters. I’ve climbed ladders my whole life.”

Thinking about him crumpled at the foot of that ladder made her heart race again. “You could have broken your stupid neck.”

“Well, I didn’t. I just broke my stupid leg.”

She locked her gaze with his. “And now you need help.”

He shook his head. “All the other women who bring me food are nice to me. They don’t call me stupid.”

“Guess they don’t know you very well.” She used to know him. Back before he married her best friend.

Satellite of Love by Christa Maurice on Sale!

Christa Maurice's contemporary rock star romance is on sale for only 99 cents from Jan 29 thru March 5th. Check out the first book in her Drawn To the Rhythm series at this low, low price!

Blurb:
Reluctantly on her way to a blind date, second grade teacher Maureen detours into her mechanic's garage because her brakes are squeaking. Her regular mechanic isn't there but his very intriguing brother Michael is. Michael tells her that he can't let her drive home with her brakes in that condition and offers to take her out to dinner in his 1972 Plymouth Satellite. Maureen can't believe how instantly and powerfully she's attracted to this grease monkey and neither can any of her friends, but since he's only going to be in town for a week, she doesn't want to waste an instant.

Except that grease monkey, is no grease monkey. He's Bear D'Amato, rock'n'roll drummer and in a week he's headed back to get ready for a world tour with his band, Touchstone. When he first meets Maureen, he just wants to go out with her a few times like a normal guy, but as the relationship deepens, he realizes he wants more than just a couple of dates. He wants a lifetime.
Maureen is shocked by his revelation, but she realizes she wants a lifetime too.

Now all they have to do is convince the rest of the world.

Excerpt:
“Did you have sex with that girl?”
Michael glanced over his shoulder and frowned. “Maybe. I think so.”
Maureen tried to draw a deep breath, but it caught on the steel bands around her lungs. She didn't expect him to have been a saint, but to not remember? Another steel band tightened around her head and the room went a little flat and sideways.
“Listen baby, those girls don't mean anything. When you're out on the road they're everywhere. It's like exercise.” He flushed.
“You weren't jogging with her.”
“No.” Michael slouched.
“And you're going to be out on the road soon.” Maureen folded her arms to keep her body from flying apart. How had she gotten mixed up in this?
“Yeah, but it's different now. Why go out for hamburger when I've got steak at home?” He stroked her cheek.
“What if you get hungry while you're out?”
“Baby, I'm not going to.” He put his hands on her neck and leaned his forehead against hers. Her view shrank to just him. Just his eyes. “I love you, Maureen. Ever since I met you, everything's been different. You're all I need.”
“What if the hamburger is particularly insistent?” Cyndy looked like the type to take no as a challenge. And there were thousands of girls like her. Maureen bet there were a dozen in the building right now. None of them would think twice about having sex with him. They might not even think of it as cheating. He might not think of it as cheating. “If I'm going to marry you, I need to know you're going to be faithful.”
“I promise you I will give new meaning to the word faithful.”
“That's what I'm afraid of.” Maureen bit her lip. If he cheated on her all of these people were going to know. They would be laughing about how naïve she'd been, believing he wouldn't be with another woman when so many willing ones were available.
All she could see was his eyes and eyes never lie.
“You have nothing to fear. I am forever yours. Faithfully.”

Bio:
Christa Maurice spends a lot of time lost in imagination. When not writing, she loves to travel and has spent several years living overseas. She spent four years living in Abu Dhabi where the temperature was always hot, the sunrise and sunset were pretty stable year ‘round and she could go weeks without speaking to a man who wasn’t selling her groceries. You know that happens to a woman living in what amounts to a harem situation? She spends a lot of time talking about shoes and thinking about men. Which brings us right back to being lost in imagination…

And if you've seen me talk about my contemporary royalty romance series, but haven't given it a try...this is a great time to check it out. Take a peek at the excerpt below for a taste.

Excerpt:

Mia rushed over to the waist high railing constructed of rough-hewn stone like the rest of the palace. Darkness had fallen while she’d been inside. Lights from the towns around them sparkled below. Stars in the inky sky twinkled above. Once again she had the feeling of stepping into a fairy tale.

The air was warm, even outside, with barely a breeze to lift the moisture from her skin. She took a few decidedly un-princesslike gulps of air, trying to calm the edgy arousal that burned within her.

“Are you alright?” Vittorio asked. He stepped up to her and the heat from his body didn’t help her at all. “Do you need to sit down? Something cold to drink?”

“I’ll be okay. Just give me a minute. I guess I’m just not used to the climate here.” She was so hot. She began to tug down one of the opera-length gloves. Would it be a serious breach of conduct if she whipped them off and threw them over the railing?

“Allow me,” he said, his voice suddenly a little deeper, a little slower than it had been a moment before. He took her hand in his, stretched out her arm in front of him. He ran his free hand up, starting at the palm of the hand resting in his. Slowly, so slowly, he moved his hand up her arm. There might as well not have been the fabric of the glove between them, she felt his touch so strongly.  When his fingers reached the top of the glove, he didn’t immediately begin to remove it. Instead, he teased the bare skin of her upper arm with his fingers. “So soft,” he whispered, holding her gaze. He swept his hand up to her bare shoulders and cupped her neck, skimming his thumb along her collar bone, just above the diamonds Birgitte had trusted her with. “This beautiful necklace is not half as lovely as you,” he murmured.

She couldn’t speak, could only offer a shaky smile in response. He was holding her hand, her throat. Could he feel her trembling beneath his touch?

“But you are hot. It is our weather, no doubt. I can help you with this problem, I think.” Vittorio began to slowly peel the glove from her arm, dragging his fingers along her skin as he did. He focused all his attention on her arm, as if it were the most important thing to him at the moment.

What would it be like to have that single-minded attention focused on her while making love? Even as Vittorio stripped off her glove, her body heated further with the image of his long, powerful frame moving over her, entering her.

Mia imagined he would take command of her body, ensuring that he pleasured her with all the skill he surely possessed. She couldn’t help but wonder if he would look as amazing out of the expensively tailored clothing as he did at this moment. Of course, he would. Everything about Vittorio was first class. He would fit right in with Birgitte. Mia wasn’t close to being in the same league.

Vittorio began to strip off the second glove, giving it every bit as much attention as he had given to the first one. His fingers strummed along her arm as he tugged at the satin. Her newly bared arm hung at her side, her fingers closed into a fist so she didn’t reach out and tangle them in his thick hair.

“Don’t you have breezes in Mezzano?” she asked, her voice rough with desire. She hoped he would think it was the heat that affected her so. He still held one of her hands in his. She lifted the other hand to wave in front of her face, trying to stir the muggy air.

“Ah, my poor cara. It is still and humid this evening. Be assured we have our share of wind and rain.” The second glove was off now and Vittorio released her hand. How ridiculous it was to feel bereft at the loss of his touch. He folded the gloves and tucked them into the pocket of his jacket.

Mia lifted her heavy hair off her neck to try to cool off for a moment. Maybe she should have worn it up. “I know I should enjoy the warm weather. Right now in Stagatland I would have to be bundled up in a coat and scarf and boots to stand outside.”

Vittorio swept his gaze over her. “And it would truly be a shame to cover the amazing view I have at this moment.”

She let her hair fall down her back. “I suspect you have had a lot of practice with those charming lines,” Mia said, letting the amusement show in her voice. Still, she soaked up the compliment, let the pleasure flow over her like a warm spring rain.

He took her hand, lifted it to his lips. This time the kiss to the back of her bare hand sent fireworks bursting through her system. “It’s only the truth, Birgitte.”

Hearing her cousin’s name fall from Vittorio’s lips was like a handful of snow smacking her in the face. Of course. She had to remember she wasn’t Mia Holmberg tonight. She’d almost forgotten she was playing a part. Still, she lifted a skeptical brow at his words, they were so foreign to those she usually heard.

“You will find that I always speak the truth,” he said. “I despise lies and deception. I have heard and seen too many of them during my years in the palace. Too many people say one thing to my face and another behind my back. I speak only the truth when I say that I am so glad you accepted our invitation to my father’s birthday celebration and that I find you incredibly attractive. I would never lie to you.”

Mia shuddered at his words. She couldn’t let him discover her deception. He would never understand.

Great Review for Choose Me

It's always great when an author knows she's found her readers. Especially when writing to a niche market like mature romances. My Silver Fox Romances are at their core small town romances. The heroes are sexy firefighters and contractors - and over 40. And while I hear from many readers that they are looking for romances with older characters, it's hard to get the message out to those readers. But I have faith that it will happen and part of that is visibility. And reviews.

Reviews are slowly coming in, and this one for Choose Me from Scandalicious Book Review made my day because I knew I'd found the readership I'm writing for. The review says in part:

"...Choose Me is silver fox romance at its best. We have easily relatable couples that are mature enough to see past the distractions and insecurities. They are mature enough to talk and more importantly, listen to each other even when they both fuck up. Experience like that is hard earned and much appreciated. I strongly recommend you try this book/series. Natasha Moore has tapped into something that has sparked an ember in my reading fire and I can’t wait to see what else she gives us next. Rick has a herd of brothers, and friends around town and Eve’s girlfriends are a hoot, so plenty of future story potential can be found in the secondary characters. In fact, Rescue Me is out now…I’ll be reading that one next!"

You can read the review in full here.

If you'd like to read romances with mature characters, give Choose Me a try. And if you like it, recommend it to your friends, because I think word of mouth is the strongest way to reach potential readers. And to find the readers who are looking for the books we write.
